If I were a saint I would adopt them and get them treatment
But I don't know if their standard of living would be very good
Considering they're almost feral and hate their cage and hate when I take them out
Not that I can take them out when I'm infectious (and them too now =s)
Plus I don't want my roomate's cat infected
I don't think I'm being careful enough as it is. =s

These rats bite me, give me ringworm (It's not as gross as it sounds I promise) and then I get something that looks like poison ivy all over my hand and it itches so bad WTFFFFFFFFF

And I got a call today from the shelter saying that the rats probably have ringworm too and if I don't adopt them they will be put down. They're mean rats and I can't touch them because of the contagion which means I can't tell whether or not they would get better with handling and I can't afford to adopt them anyway (4 of them D=) but the more I think about it the harder it is to conceive of dropping them off to be killed.

Plus one of them is developing a red patch on her butt and is losing fur, which means they are probably infected too.

Ughhh what do I do

I would take them back. They are trying to guilt you into keeping nearly feral animals. It's not a good idea.

They are definitely not trying to guilt me to do anything. They didn't really know the state of the rats when they got them, and the girl who had to give me the call sounded more upset than I felt. She also emphasized that they understood completely if my decision was to bring them back. There's no pressure either way from them, it's just my own feelings that I have to work through.

Anyway, I've decided to bring them back. The process is humane, and there's not much I can do for them beyond keeping them in a cage =s.

i wouldn't feel too guilty about having them put down. even though they're cute and all they're after all just rats. they have such a short life expectancy (2, max. 3 years) that treating them isn't worth the effort and most of them get cancer in the end too, which can't be too pleasant either. so you might aswell just put them out of their misery and grant them the fortune of participating in ratnarok in rat-valhalla or something like that.
