ENFJ-THE GIVERADVOCATING VISIONARY

Dorian's vain nature stems from his hedonistic youth. As a boy, he devoted most of his days to whims and lampoons, but as the fully-fledged Lord Arelgren, he's learned to be more purposeful with his talents and good looks. While Dorian's achievements largely attribute to his noble title and heavenly physiognomy, his birthright, however, also accounts for his narcissism and perspective. Dorian emphasizes the value of function and aesthetics in everything; his eye for masterful intention comes from being surrounded by treasures and theater on a day-to-day basis. Throughout his lifetime, Dorian’s been conscious that beauty without intention produces meaningless results, be it in the arts or in personal presentation. When it comes to art and music, Dorian can easily discern a master's craftsmanship from a novice's handiwork. Harmony between aesthetics and function keeps things from becoming worthless and ordinary--which is, consequently, Dorian’s greatest fear. He associates being mundane with being unnecessary, and if there's anything Dorian fears more than being ordinary, it's being alone. Therefore, Dorian's extremely wary towards how others receive him; he lives to impress.

Yet, Dorian knows better than to believe that birthright alone defines a man's worth. Because of his upbringing, Dorian has to compensate for much of the political inexperience that he lacked as a youth. It isn’t so much that Dorian’s a new man, but that he’s learned to adapt. Over time, Dorian has evolved his mercurial nature from a lampooning device to a political one; he masterfully shows others the sides of him that they most prefer to see. As a dramatist, Dorian takes all his countenances seriously, and heavily invests in making ends meet. Unlike his Plague, however, Dorian takes mannerisms lightly outside of diplomatic encounters. Mannerisms, to the Arelgren scion, are a form of conversational hilarity. Even in the darkest situations, he'll make an effort to be sardonic. While it’s true that Dorian’s a jester at heart, he also requires an active balance between comedy and despair, since he’s terrible at dealing with pressure or anxiety. When it comes to preference, however, Dorian would much rather be fondly referred to as a complicated gentleman than a comical pierrot.

Dorian takes great pride in being a gentleman. He never fails to exaggerate and reiterate that praise that he’s given, and if doused with admiration, he’ll only try for more. In addition to being arrogant, Dorian's also renowned for his brutal honesty. If there’s any flaw Dorian’s brave enough to admit to, it is his inability to lie. Generally speaking, his frankness comes from good intentions, but his tone doesn't always make this immediately clear. Because he's a candid critic, his words can either be the sweetest honey or the most aboveboard poison; he becomes moody and irascible if people respond negatively to his criticisms. Naturally, he can give off a stingy or presumptuous impression, which he doesn’t actually mind being associated with. First impressions make lasting impressions on Dorian; he generally won't be invested in someone unless their first impressions give him a good enough reason to.

Despite himself, Dorian ultimately judges others according their personal values. Years spent in the House has hardened Dorian into a manticore with the same messiah complex as his Plague. While his behavior varies between the extremes of being serious or not serious at all, Dorian Arelgren has never been malignant. He keeps tabs on his favorite people, and will best all odds at keeping them safe. He always means well towards those he fancies, and tries his best in keeping them alive. When it comes to acting on instinct, Dorian relies on a decent balance between his heart and mind, and will always think in others’ interests in addition to his own. Even as the political deviant, The Manticore, Dorian isn’t afraid of letting his emotions guide him.

As “The Manticore”, Dorian strongly opposes the invisible, dividing lines within society. Dorian's pride in himself actually originates from his pride for what he stands for; he believes that everyone should be represented by what they personally believe in, and not what their social classes limit them to be. His quest as an Overseer consists of advocating interfactional activity. Because the factions’ collaborative effort is what fixed him, he genuinely believes that it could also potentially fix the Panymium’s political situation. He aspires to represent the House virtuously and respectfully, but still upholds his Arelgren pride. Being supercilious, however, has not dulled the Arelgren's mind. While Dorian while he’s confident in his own values, he's generally open-minded towards others’. Yet, it takes great conviction to implement anything lasting into Dorian's head, so if he doesn't readily agree with an idea, he'll generally disregard it unless it impacts him in some handicapping way.

ISFJ-THE PROTECTORFAITHFUL CREATOR

Soft spoken and kind, Lettie's voice has been described as cheerful, seasonal bells, and her gestures, theatrical and animated. Physically, there's nothing about Lettie that's "rough" or "crude", but unlike her Grimm, she's capable of malignance. Lettie is surprisingly less passive than Dorian, but her reasons for being forceful are the same as his reasons for being a manticore. Because of her messiah complex, Lettie tends to feel morally encouraged to help others, even if it's not her place to. She's drawn to emotionally and physically sick people, and while others could potentially turn them away, Lettie could never do so. Her noble heart stems from her time spent with Dorian. He'd bred her on fairy tales and stories of noble knighthood when she was an Excito, and emulating the heroic figures' chivalry makes Lettie feel necessary and important. Solitude mortifies Lettie, and being put aside causes her massive anxiety. She's easily smitten with people and often exaggerates their virtues, but only because she doesn't want to think poorly of them, since the Black Death is quick to give and take.

Lettie revels in advising others; it gives her a sense of self-satisfaction. Slowly but surely, she's learning to empathize with her role as a warm cup of hot cocoa. During her life as an Excito, she enjoyed accompanying Dorian on his lampoons. It was during this time that she learned conduct and politeness from observing nobles, whom Lettie admired for their elegance and grace. However, she acknowledges the imperfections of aristocracy, and realizes that even Arelgrens err. Regardless, Lettie's militantly civil in how she speaks and acts towards others. Her abstraction of "kindness" used to be platonic in the sense that she had difficulty understanding that helping others meant to see from their point of view, but even then, she had good intentions. She aspires to educate others on seeking their own happiness without defining it for them. Happiness is a fragile entity to Lettie, so if someone shares with her what their happiness is, she'll do whatever is in her power to help preserve and protect it.

Yet, Lettie is anything but a hot chocolate faerie. Her gestures and mannerisms may appear docile, but Lettie's the type of individual that would seriously research how to harm someone in the most effective way were the situation to call upon it. She's knowledgeable in morbid things that most wouldn't associate her with. From understanding how repeaters work to how corpses deteriorate, Lettie has learned it all, from firsthand experience. Lettie reveals her aggressive side in dire scenarios, but it's mostly kept as a passive side of her.

Additionally, Lettie's also grown out of the habit of referring to herself in the third person because she believes that she's developed into someone that only she can represent. Unlike many Plagues, Lettie does not believe that she is her Grimm's responsibility, and instead, tries her best to defend his ideals while allowing him to defend his own character. To Lettie, self-representation is equivalent to confidence and self-respect, but there are times when she's uncertain if her own decisions are the right ones.

All snow falls from the sky, and the Arelgrens, too, are of northern, Shyregoedian spirit. The Arelgrens are an old Panymian family specializing in inter-regional barter. "Wealth" is interchangeable with "Arelgren" and no Arelgren has ever known any different. True to their sigil, the Arelgrens groom their caterpillars to grow into socially lustrous butterflies. All Arelgrens know that beauty supports power and ugliness acts as deception. Their title rings loud within Shyregoed's frosty fortress, but their trade has always been kept strictly private between a handful of powerful families, a select few from each region. Accusations of dishonest business made towards the Arelgrens make them unpopular among the Shyregoedian commonfolk. Yet, these accusations are not completely faulty, for underneath their butterfly garments, the Arelgrens are economic shapeshifters. The Arelgrens are treasure hunters. Items of value commonly reappear within Arelgren Manor, and are carefully "lost" through trade. Trapping an Arelgren has never been heard of, for an Arelgren has more nests than one. But all Shyregoedians acknowledge that much of the Arelgren merit is organic; their wit isn't entirely of guile. Raphael Arelgren, the first Arelgren, had a strong affinity with trade winds and mathematics. In addition to being a rhetorician and playwright, Raphael was mostly known for his whimsical nature instead of his talent. As the Arelgrens proceeded into the future, Raphael's colorful descendants inherited his talents. Lucien's kinsmen have always gained a dark profit, regardless of their landlord status. The house motto does not, in fact, hold sentiment in the family's social class, but their economic method. All Arelgrens are dramatists, and all Arelgrens can become whatever they wish. Panymium is their theater, and every transaction is a monetary cocoon. Being mercurial is conceptual for an Arelgren; as trade winds change, so does an Arelgren's flight and fancy. This has been the truth for every Lord Arelgren, and has helped their properties expand. The Arelgrens are monarchs of a "human" empire outside of trade. People are invaluable assets, and the Arelgrens have always paid well. Their allegiance to the House has only made them more resourceful, and their friends, more instrumental. Everyone could smuggle and everyone could participate so long as the price is right.

This was every Arelgren's way of life; it was Raphael and his wife, Plutonia's, as it was Lucien and his wife, Agatha's. Yet, Dorian Arelgren's life is not quite the same.

The differences became apparent a few years after his birth.

Lucien Arelgren had disappeared from his home, leaving Dorian with his wife, the gaunt Agatha, and his maid, the youthful Nancy Burdrew. A few weeks later, Agatha, too, had left Shyregoed. There were rumors that the disappearance was a result of Agatha Gesthene's marriage to Lucien Arelgren--that he'd left her after "finally accepting the gravity" of her humble background. This conclusion was logical to Shyregoedians--Agatha's cultist allegiance couldn't be enough to cause infatuation, she was simply the daughter of a widowed, Obscuvian poet. Some said that Lucien married her out of pity, she, so ghostly fair, and he, so vigorously princely. Lucien must have shown some form of sympathy. Arelgrens are whimsical creatures, and such a gesture wouldn't be shocking in that respect. Agatha wasn't particularly wealthy in shillings, but she was rich in ink--and Lucien, being a lover of language, genuinely loved his wife's morbid prose and black humor. He also learned to love her virtue, and her aspiration to be an effective cultist and mother. Extremism was strong in the cult, and the Arelgrens' economic sins weighed heavily against her moral constitution. Thus, the Butterfly Crows began beating their wings, and a new organization was born. Lucien and Agatha became a divergent force, warning other factions of violent, Obscuvian presence before the events would occur. The Arelgren theater was therefore used as a positive device. The Butterfly Crows began fluttering, and the Arelgrens' treasure-hunting ceased.

The Arelgren family, as a result, was reduced to a boy and his maid.

Dorian Arelgren had never truly known his mother and father, and as a result, hadn't been "properly" raised as the Arelgren heir. The Arelgren tutors struggled in making the narcissistic Dorian imbibe their books. Dorian didn't care much to learn, and when he did learn, he'd learn by reading on his own volition. In many ways, Dorian earned his debatable popularity. Many of his skills were self-acquired, such as literacy, cooking, dancing, swordplay, and (clandestine) seams work. Ultimately, the Arelgren scion matured with a boastful ego and a dandy wardrobe. He lived a religiously, hedonistic youth, for he idolized himself. Lordship was not a focus to him, for life was simply too fun. Naturally, any devotion Dorian had to becoming the next Lord Arelgren disappeared around puberty. Anything Dorian knew about lordship was encapsulated in literature and the current Shyregoedian nobles. To Nancy's relief, House Arelgrens' allies still accepted Lord Arelgren's son for assorted reasons. Dorian had inherited many Arelgren traits, such as being a stentorian gadfly and being persuasive with his looks alone. Yet, his physical features failed to compensate for his ignorance and inexperience. Yet, like all the Arelgrens before him, Dorian could become whatever the situation required him to be. He was a nuisance to some, and a jester to others--but above all, he was an addition to many Shyregoedian parties, simply because he provided laughter within chilly castles. Nancy had always chided him for his borderline hedonism, but nothing could stop Dorian's wants and lampoons just like nothing could stop Lucien's still steady income and Butterfly Crow progress. If Dorian wanted to sleep in someone else's home, he'd sleep in the master's room. If Dorian wanted to dance with a pretty girl, he'd dance with a soon-to-be-wed. If Dorian wanted to buy himself a pie, he'd buy himself the biggest. Dorian saw no reason to lower standards. For this reason, he despised peasantry for twenty-three years.

When Dorian turned 20, he decided that he didn't care about Lucien nor Agatha, and that he liked his life the way it was. Food was put on his table when he was hungry and girls would dance with him if he asked politely. He had a handful of friends, but Nancy was his maternal guide and closest companion. Lucien and Agatha had chosen not to contact their son in their time apart, and Dorian was content with this because Nancy made up for their silence with her wisdom literature and good conversation. Nancy's death, however, deprived Dorian twice of what he'd been lacking, and at the age of twenty-two, Dorian found himself alone again, and Nancy, snatched by the plague. She left the boy a gift of hot cocoa, but in wholeness, she left him a large gap in his heart. Many Shyregoedians blamed Dorian for Nancy's death, for she was unanimously well-received. He must have been a heavy burden for her, or she must have acted as a barrier between him and a plagued victim. That must have been how Nancy contracted the plague--because of Dorian--because every Arelgren's tragedy is the dust of his own wings. Dorian finally felt the depression that he denied himself for twenty years, though he coped with it through small acts of charity and a growing interest in his family's main religion. Family was what he pined for, and family was what Obscuvos represented. He was an Arelgren butterfly, but he also had the wingspan of a crow.

Arelgren Manor's deceptive exterior matches its inhabitants well. The Arelgrens have never taken much effort into making their home look presentable since doing so isn't important to them, for they don't habitually host parties. An attractive house is a lootworthy house, and Dorian has done his time (ironically, by doing nothing), and hasn't tried to do much upkeep. Inside, however, Arelgren Manor is filled with treasures that Lucien and his kinsmen have collected throughout their lifetimes, and the manor's furnishing starkly contrast the manor's exterior. The manor itself is located on top of a cliff-hill in Stillcrest that the nearby residents have dubbed, "The Damned Hill" for its impractical location and terrible occupants.

i. butterfly crows' theme - OBSCUVIAN DREAMS - and we get older ➤

O’er the lantern
Hunches a black rook
He ruffles his butterfly feathers
That turn to splendid ash
Butterfly ash coats his secretive wings
For he is the Butterfly Crow
He is an invisible thing

I.ABOUT
The Butterfly Crows are a sub-organization hidden within the House of Obscuvos. While the members of the Butterfly Crows are still theoretically in the Obscuvian alliance, their purpose deviates them from the cult. They still follow the orders of their fowl god, but they have no intent on harming anyone in the process. Additionally, they tip off information about the House to the other factions in secret. To maintain their operations, Butterfly Crows keep their numbers small and their importance to Obscuvos low and therefore call themselves "imaginary creatures". While they aren't prominent in the House, they are usually Panymium's social butterflies. In this sense, they can accumulate more networking outside of the House to further their goals. They only refer to themselves as "Butterfly Crows" towards other Butterfly Crows to maintain their secrecy. If a Butterfly Crow is discovered and is killed, the others are bound by contract to commit suicide to follow suit. They have no intention of dying by the hand of another Obscuvian, or Obscuvos himself. Some Butterfly Crows (such as Lucien Arelgren and Agatha Arelgren) never return to their original homes once they become Butterfly Crows, or associate with anyone they had previous connections with to secure both parties' lives.

II.ORIGIN
The term "Butterfly Crow" was originally established by Lucien Arelgren as an impromptu title for one of his own whimsical roleplays he frequented with his wife. Lucien and Agatha Arelgren were considered senior members of the House by then, and had collected blood on theArelgren name for the sake of the crow deity. The couple began to grow weary of the House's requirements, especially those slathered with murder. Both never intended to leave the House, however, as they had already accumulated many friends and relationships from within. Being senior members, the two had also witnessed what would occur to those that dared to leave the faction and ally with another. Stressed, Lucien and Agatha Arelgren adopted the moniker "Butterfly Crow" for each other instead of "Obscuvian" as a psychological device to soothe their conscience. It allowed them to identify themselves as "separate" from the rest, still members of the House, but not among the black, ugly crows.Agatha, however, felt that the title itself was not enough. Without a society, the idea could not be enforced by measured number. The two Arelgrens were not the only members within the House that felt uncomfortable with the "necessary sacrifices" it demanded. They managed to find two other members (who were trusted with utmost confidence) to recruit to the Butterfly Crows which became a secret sub-society within the House. Whenever the House commanded carnage, murder, or sacrifice, the Butterfly Crows would tip off other factions about such occurrences, hoping that the others may obstruct the missions' success. There are happenings from the House that the Butterfly Crows do not inform. The Butterfly Crows do not tip off other factions about planned revolts or congregations--merely anything that is affiliated with intentional murder. They do not leave any source of identification behind when they leave the tip-off. For all Panymium knows, the Butterfly Crows do not exist. They are, after all, imaginary creatures.

III.INITIATION
The "traditional" method of recruiting a Butterfly Crow was too, created by Agatha and Lucien. It has only been used four times, as Agatha is no longer alive to continue it. Normally, the initiation would be disguised as a dinner party in which the Arelgrens would invite an amalgam of Panymians (mostly chosen at random) to participate. Sometime into the party, Lucien would contact the potential recruit (who is still clueless at this point in time) that Agatha would "require assistance in the kitchen." The kitchen is where the test begins and the decision of whether the potential member should be recruited or not depends partially upon it.

Agatha leaves clues in the kitchen before the potential recruit arrives. When they do, she gives them instructions on gathering recipes from around the kitchen. It is purely a test of attentiveness to detail because it is important for a Butterfly Crow to be wary of detail when leaving messages behind for other factions. If they cannot find all the lines (or if they find none at all), then the ruse continues. If they can find all seven lines of the Butterfly Crow poem, the first test is completed and the second test begins.

In the second test, Agatha "confesses" to the recruit that asking he or she to aid her in the kitchen was truly only a ruse. She admits that she simply "cannot do it alone", "it" pertaining to the House's supposed secret mission for her to perform a mass-murder of everyone attending the party and that Lucien himself was not allowed to know of it and was also a victim of it. She will the ask if the potential recruit would aid her in the act. She will then threaten them and try to push them into succumbing. If they refuse to under all circumstances, she will admit the "true" ruse and ask if they'd partake in joining the Butterfly Crows. If they accept, Agatha Arelgren will end them, disguising said person's disappearance as an early departure from the party (in both a literal and metaphorical sense).

So far, all the potential candidates have either been unable to pass the first test or refused to commit the "mass murder" (and became members afterwards).

Because the traditional initiation largely depended on the clever Agatha Arelgren to function, it can no longer be used. Dorian was initiated by his father because he is the immediate Arelgren heir. Additionally, the Butterfly Crows were already one Arelgren less, so Dorian's membership was very much appreciated in the number sense.

i. nightingales' theme - NIGHTINGALE DREAMS - sleepsong ➤

I.ABOUT
The Order of the Nightingale is a charity group within the House of Obscuvos. The organization aspires to personally consult and aid Panymians that are victims of the Plague. Their services extend to people of all political alignments and not just Obscuvians alone. While they try to help anyone that suffers the plague, their main focus is to help Grimms cultivate their Plagues and adjust to Grimmhood. A Nightingale's wing is highly extensive. Their charity varies from nursing a victim, consulting Grimms, to helping carry out funerary services. However, not all Panymians view the Order of the NIghtingale as a force of good. What makes the Order controversial is quite frankly its inception. While the intentions of its creator, Lettie, are virtuous, its formal acceptance is rather political. All of the Nightingales' charity work is accomplished in the name of Obscuvos, and because of this, many Panymians perceive it as an Obscuvian conversion tool. This accusation is not entirely incorrect, for it's because of its political perk that it was accepted into the faction at all. The Order's growth only reinforces this sentiment, since most of its members are people that converted into Obscuvianism after being shared a taste of its kindness.

II.OBSCUVIANISM
The Nightingales, while being Obscuvian heralds, understand that their faction may not necessarily be well-received by all of Panymium. In this sense, their work becomes slightly tricky. They do not preach Obscuvos's ideologies, but they use his name. Whenever the Nightingales pray for a victim, they do it Obscuvian-style, but respectfully so. To clarify, the Order of the Nightingale does not intentionally convert people into Obscuvianism, but many end up following the faith because of the help and kindness that the Order showed them. Humanely speaking, they identify the Nightingales as inspiration for hope and therefore correlate that image to Obscuvos. Generally speaking, the Nightingales do not bring up Obscuvos's name outside of prayer (or actual cultist meetings) when it comes to Order business. Connotation also matters; Nightingales interpret Obscuvos slightly differently than the main cult. Whenever someone they help dies, they perceive their actions as blessing the person with worldly care. After the person dies, the Nightingales believe that the said person is now in Obscuvos's divine care in paradise. Additionally, plagues are viewed differently from most Obscuvians also. Instead of being vessels of chaos, they're seen as vessels of opportunity and hope. This is a direct result from Lettie's personal experience (and therefore bias), since the bond between a Grimm and Plague can often be positively rewarding.

III.MEMBERSHIP & HIEARCHY
There isn't an actual hazing process for Order membership. There's no minimum or maximum age requirement; being physically competent to help others in need is all that's needed. Anyone can join Lettie in her efforts to heal Panymium's sick, and she doesn't mind if they aren't Obscuvian (though it helps to be). Being Obscuvian simply gives a member more access to the Order's facilities, since it uses much of the House's own services such the flockery for its communication needs. While there isn't an "official hierarchy" in the order's construction, its members regard Lettie as their main figure of guidance with the organization's senior members as secondary authority. All members receive red ribbons from Lettie for their efforts (though it can also be perceived, in a sense, as a type of identification). Every person or family that the Organization touches is also given red ribbons as tokens of goodwill. (( Yes, it's canon, Lettie invented awareness ribbons in Panymium!! ))

IV.WORK ETHIC
The Nightingales are a lenient bunch, and Lettie is very understanding towards members who feel as if they can only help part-time. The truth is that most of its inactive members still help plagued souls when they see them, it's just that they aren't doing it within the Nightingale group. Most of the time, the Nightingales travel in groups of twos or threes. They keep their numbers small so that they don't come off as an alarming and also because it makes it easier to get more personal with victims. The flockery is used to communicate and organize the Nightingales, and the Order itself deploys nightingale stunteds to aid them in field missions.

V.NIGHTINGALE BRIGADE
The Nightingale Brigade are Lettie's personal response group.
