Never Stop Dreaming...Just recently (last Friday to Yesterday) I was visiting relatives in Michigan. My grandfather has been fighting cancer for at least a year now, and they don't expect him to live to Feburary. For personl reasons, this was good news for me, but I didn't have a choice whether to go or not. For me, the ten hour drive was the best part, and I expected the visit to completely suck. But then something I didn't expect happened. My uncle showed up, the crazy one. Because of this My grandfather broke down crying because he was so happy to finally see his son. And at that point I found myself feeling sad. I was supposed to be basking in the glory that the b*****d was finally dieing and I found myself tearing up because I was sad. Why? Why do I cry when the person I hate most is finally leaving my life? Of That Beautiful Place..

Never Stop Dreaming...So the point in this thread. Do you have relatives that you hate? I mean really hate? What's you're favorite part of trips to visit relatives? And finally, should I feel sad? Of That Beautiful Place..

Tea Panda O_0 So the point in this thread. Do you have relatives that you hate? I mean really hate? What's you're favorite part of trips to visit relatives? And finally, should I feel sad? You may want to adjust the name of the thread to better reflect this.

However all I see is hate toward a dieing family member.

Lady Kira X My grandfather. It's a.. I could care less if something happens to you kinda hate. Ah, I know what that feels like. It's not towards a family member, but towards someone I know. Isn't it curious? It's not so much hate, at least not normal hate, but a great dispassion. It's not like normal apathy, either. The person becomes like a stranger to them, except there's no obligation to be mannerly and you don't think anything will ever change with how much you like them... Just in case you live by the old "A stranger is just a friend that you haven't met, yet" outlook (not that I do). Is hate really the right word? The history that I have with that person doesn't keep me from hating them; if anything, it caused this outlook, but at the same time it's so apathetic. It's not normal apathy, either though. It's really... Passionate dispassion. Or am I off the mark?

I have someone who I happen to hold a great amount of indifference to that could border towards hate at times myself so perhaps that's the feeling your referring to Matasoga?I do sometimes feel bitter towards hem but I don't think I can feel true hate

I have felt depths of hate, sometimes directionless, misdirected, or rampant hate. It's more a conclusion than an alternative.

Isn't it wrong to speak ill of the dead (or in this case, dying)?

Krissi-Chaos Isn't it wrong to speak ill of the dead (or in this case, dying)? In theory, yes, but I've never heard that said as a reply to someone badmouthing Hitler, so I don't think that it's necessarily arbitrary.
