[begin]
I have always had a problem with the way I look, but never more than the next guy in line. I am 16, 5'5", have an average body weight of 117, and a BMI of 19.5.
I do wish I was smaller, but just in my highs and stomach. (I want a flat tummy and to have a small space between my thighs.) Judging from my body info, is it unhealthy for me to wish I could reach 100 pounds?
(I have had people tell me I am small or skinny, but if there are other girls who are healthly smaller than me, or I am too big to fit into my frends clothes, I am sad and disappointed.)

You and my sister are exactly the same. she is 4'7" and wieght wise she is 106 lbs. She is skinny as hell. But if you want my opinion, fo this one in particular, don't go by what anyone says on this thread because in the end it is your choice to make. I know your just looking for others view on things but in truth your far healthier then most. if the world population was based on a scale of 1/1000... I'd estimate about 67% are unhealthy 33% is healthy, and all of them wish they were something other then what they were right now.
I'll tell you your fine the way you are, but if you wish to lose more pounds and reach 100lbs, however admirable it is, goodluck to you.

You are the apple...
I dont see a point in you losing weight just for the sake of it. If, say, you wanted to lose a bit fat and gain a bit of muscle, that i can see, but losing weight in general i see no point in.
and I am your core.

As long as you are healthyit shouldn't matter what people think. If you are happy with your weight and you are healthy, then do what makes you happy! 4laugh

Your weight is fine for your height. In fact, it sounds like it is on the low end. I am one inch shorter than you are, and I weigh about two pounds less right now. And when I went to the doctor about a month ago, she told me it wouldn't hurt for me to put on a little weight. That's because I'm riding the low end of the BMI. And being underweight can be just as unhealthy as being overweight. If you're underweight you might stop getting your period (which might sound convenient, but if your body can't keep your period going because you're so unhealthy, that's obviously not so good), and your body might even start eating away at internal organs to get the nourishment it needs. So yes, it probably would be unhealthy for me and for you to be 100 pounds. And who cares if other people are smaller anyway? No matter what you look like, someone will always be bigger and someone will always be smaller. Who cares if you can't fit into everyone's clothes either? Maybe those people aren't healthy. Or maybe they are squeezing into their clothes. Or maybe they're just built really small. Either way it has nothing to do with you. Wear your own clothes, stay healthy, and be thankful for your health. If you need help feeling better about your body and learning what a healthy body is, there is a wonderful guild called The Teen Sex, Pregnancy and Puberty Guild that has a Positive Body Image Subforum. I'd recommend checking it out.

You're only anorexic if you stop eating.
If you want to get toned, you should take a more active work out that is focused on body sculpting. There's whole videos and books about that stuff you can check uot.

Wanting to better yourself in a healthy way does not make you anorexic. Not eating and abusing weight loss pills and diuretics make you anorexic. Instead of loosing fat, you should do weight training to tone the areas not loose weight. Tone your mussels to get that lean look. But talk to your doctor before you start, just to be safe.

I'm around you're hight and weight, and my doctor says if I lose much more weight I'll actually be underweight, which makes me think the same principle applies to you. Just guessing. So I'd say gaining more muscle is a better goal than losing weight, just cuz I don't think anyone wants to be underweight. Again, just guessing.

I agree that you're "problem" is not being toned and muscular, not that you have too much fat or anything like that. And no, the only thing that defines anorexia is not eating...it doesn't necessarily have to do with losing weight.
100 lbs would put you at a BMI of 16.6. I think anything under 18 point something is underweight.
Try working out with exercises that focus on toning your tummy and thighs then. :] It'll be good for your body too, not just your self esteem.

...i don't think you understand what anorexia is, and i think you should. anorexia is not just wanting to lose weight. anorexia is being consumed by starvation. anorexia is being terrified of food, of eating, of fat, ugliness, impurity. it's eating a fourteenth of what your body needs just to support itself, every day for months and months at a time, until you weigh 70 pounds and your feet and hands are blue because your body has no energy to heat itself, and your heart begins to fail and you find yourself in the emergency room with an IV in your arm and ten blankets on you. and yet, even then, when you're only skin and bones, all you hear is "fat, fat, fat," whispering in your ear, all day, every day. so no, you're not anorexic. definitely not. i don't think you're even prone to developing an eating disorder, because, like you said, your issues with your appearance are the same as any other person's. they're there, but they don't consume you. it's only if your self-esteem shrinks to nothing or you become obsessed with your appearance that i'd really worry. oh, or if you have any sort of stressful problems in your life and you feel out of control. if you ever feel out of control in your life, or powerless, don't diet at that time. eating disorders are all about control. you get a high from that power and it feels great... until you're in the emergency room, or an inpatient rehab.
wanting to lose weight is fine. and honestly, BMI is ******** bullshit. you're naturally thin already, bordering on "underweight", so according to BMI, if you made your lifestyle healthier you'd be more unhealthy! don't worry about BMI as long as you're HEALTHY. what your natural healthy weight is can be completely different from another person's natural healthy weight. as a teenager, my mom was 5'10" and 105 pounds. she ate A LOT, and also exercised. that's just how her body was. so, what's your current lifestyle like? what you eat & how much of it, and what exercise you do & how much of it, i mean. if you're already eating & exercising right, i wouldn't try to lose any more weight because it'll only put strain on your body. but if you're snacking a lot and not doing much exercise, yeah, go for a healthy lifestyle change--not a "diet", since those tend to be more extreme and cause people to gain all the weight back after they quit it.
sorry, blabbing a lot, but i hope that was helpful.
tl;dr: you're perfectly normal and it's perfectly normal for you to want to lose weight. oh, and don't worry about numbers--just see how you like your body as you go along. you might find that you feel wonderful at 110. : )

Well, I think if you're losing weight by eating healthy, balanced meals and working out, then it's good for you.
Starve yourself, and it isn't. That's kind of where the line is.

I've been locked inside that house, all the while You hold key And I've been dying to get out, though that might be the death of meI gotta warn you, if you build muscle you'll weigh more because muscle actually weighs more than fat. If you do decide to get toned, be aware of that. And all I'm asking is for You to do what You can with me But I can't ask You to give what You already gave
