Stoloth streatched out his enormous bulk across a large, flat stone near the shore of Weyr Lake. The lake and the meadow that surrounded it had become his favorite sunning spot and when he and His were out in the Bowl they were almost always found there, wandering lazily through the meadow or lying on the shore. Today Stoloth was alone again. While he slowly, very slowly grew accustomed to being on his own while T'go went about his little human business inside the Weyr, his mind was still troubled.
While his siblings tried their growing wings Stoloth snuck off to sulk by himself. His green sisters were already gliding, but when Stoloth was in the air - if he managed to get up at all - he felt like a boulder with wings. He spread his wings and rumbled disgruntledly to himself. How was he supposed to fly?

Tatath was looking for trouble. Something she enjoyed doing greatly. With Canoake off doing some rider work, the green was left to her own devices. She was a dark shadow, she was a luscious creature, she was... Heading right for Stoloth.
Interesting.
Now. Canoake had told her several times that she was clever for a dragon and even cleverer for a green. And very beautiful. Just like her. Stoloth was a brown. Perhaps useful. Maybe if she prodded him a little. Hello there! Why are you hiding from me?

Stoloth craned his neck around to look at her. Tatath. As he lamented his great size Stoloth's eyes swirled orange. When Tatath appeared, his eyes did not change much in color. He knew Tatath was smart. If she was talking to him she probably wanted something. He rose and turned around, claws clacking and scratching against the stone.
"Good morning, Tatath. I am... not feeling well today. You seem in a happy mood," he stated inquiringly.

gloomy. Stoloth stayed to himself in class. He seemed focused. Tatath let Yanath and Canoake do all the focusing and studying for her. She would remember what she needed to when she needed it. Walking in a semi-circle around him, she kept her happy mood and replied.
[Why should I not be? We are growing strong. The skies are clear. And I am here with you. Unless you do not wish to enjoy my company today The dark green sat in front of him and tried to look a little hurt that he might entertain such an idea.

"Of course not, Tatath. You bring a ray of sunshine into my cloudy day." A touch of sarcasm there. If she could play games so could he.
Stoloth was not the type to open up to anyone. The only beings he spoke to freely were green Danath and His. None of his clutch mates knew how he felt about learning to fly, unless they worked it out for themselves. In this case, His was the only one he told. He thought that His, having no wings of his own, would understand his apprehension about being in the air, but T'go was not like that. He actually wanted to research flight. Stoloth wasn't sure that would make him feel better.

Of course I do Stoloth. What else would I bring? Tatath replied smartly. She was clever for a green and understood that. Still, she knew how the play the part of a green. And why are you not feeling well? Eat a bad wherry?
Tatath wondered what the brown was thinking but didn't want to rush him.

Perhaps he should give her something. "No, sometimes I simply feel like being alone. I do not want anyone to worry about me. If anyone should worry, it should be Mine, but I never see him worry about anything except talking to girls," he joked feebly.
He was normally more sociable than this, but today he had a lot on his mind. He decided to try and change the subject. "I saw you with Arciuleth recently. He seems to be gaining a lot of influence.”

The green thought this over. Riders were so different from dragons. She had seen Hers go through all sorts of rituals just to go to the dining hall when it was time to feed. Not that she blamed Canoake. A girl should always look her best. Maybe if Ours were more like Us, much more would get done. It is so easy to just be sometimes.
Hmmm. Did Stoloth care that she was with the bronze? They were all clutchmates after all. The green had to hedge this carefully. Both dragons and riders would be good allies. I was. And whether he has or not, I haven't noticed. I like occassionally just to talk and not worry about what Mine wants.
There. She had noticed. Canoake drilled it in her mind everyday to make friends in high places.

Her curt reply left Stoloth slightly wary and ever more curious. She seemed to be hiding something. Whether or not that was the truth he felt convinced of his interpretation. Perhaps they were conspiring together and she did not want him to know. Well, he would see.
"Mine is making friends with Arciuleth's rider. They seem to get along well. It's nice to see him happy with another human. Has your's made friends with any other riders?"

My rider seems to make friends with those she speaks too. I like to speak to browns and bronzes. They are not so air headed as my sisters in color. But you are here alone, that is not good. Tatath replied. She did not like other greens with the exception of her bigger sister.
