Hi there! I've recently become very interested in these witchcraft cult/religions and I want to know so much more about them! Maybe even join?... But, I need a mentor or something... If someone would be kind enough to maybe help me learn more, I'd be so grateful! Please help me on my path of knowledge and self-exploration!

You're probably going to have to narrow it down a bit, to something more specific - like which paths interest you the most? and then go from there.

I am extremely new to this, so I have to question that. Natualy. lol
Okay, what do you mean by "paths"? What I want to/seek of in my learnings? If that is what you mean, I don't know. What can Pangism unlock to me?

Well Paganism is a broad term. It can mean many different paths, some are nature focused, fertility focused, some are reconstruction paths that focus more on a certain culture, there are some that focus on feminine energies over male energies the list goes on.

So I guess a question to ask yourself is what interests you? What is sacred to you?

Mmm... I could list my interest here. Maybe you could suggest things for me baced on my interest? Well, some of my past times that interest me would be reading and wrighting. I write poetry and short stories. I also enjoy arts. Theatrical, and otherwise. I love music, especially with meaningful lyrics that aspire to me. Uh, lets see... I love animals. I'm interested in Astology. Somethings that are special to me would be my boyfriend, and my family and friends. Of courses. Education is very important to me. I love learning all religions, because I believe that no one religion is compleatly right. I feel that I need to learn more about my life and the life all around me. I don't know a whole lot about this, but Im interesting in spells and potions that Wiccan Pagans use. I don't know if that's anything spicific, or if that's still very vage, but I just thought I'd put it out there... ... ... Um, I guess that's about it. Does that tell you anything about me? Anything in particular I should "study"? (I don't really know that correct temanology to use here. sweatdrop )

As Mercy mentioned Paganism is more or less an umbrella term, one that encompasses a wide variety of religions/paths. At it's most basic it simply means one who follows a non-Abrahamic religion (meaning they are not Christian, Jewish or Islamic). This post gives a breakdown of what some of the more common Pagan religions/paths that are out there. If you see something that looks interesting, let us know and we can point you to some relevant reference material.

You sound so much like me! =D like, the things your interested in.. Personally, I don't like following religion bc there's too much controversy behind it. but i consider myself Pagan, given my beliefs and thoughts. Message me if you want info on how to start in the craft. i can probably help you with what path you want to follow or whatever wink

Okay... Well, I read through that very helpful link (Thank you!) and I think that both Hellenism and Reclaiming appel to me. But, what are the pros and cons of these two choices? That might help me narrow it down to one. Also, as for religious views. I deeply feel that Henotheism is what I believe in the world. Does this help? Also, another small question. I was reading through information online and I was wonder what a Shadow book is, and if I'll need one?... I want to thank you all for helping me! Eventhough I have to question everything.... Lol

Henotheism rules out Hellenism for you. Hellenism involves ritual form that requires you to worship more than one god. Essentially.

Thanks for that answer, Azhren!
Okay, then Reclaiming. What does that teach about? What is it all about? Who do they worship?

Reclaiming - links to more info about Reclaiming, in particular this article is a good summary.

Okay, that's very useful and interesting information. But, is there any info you could give me on Hellenism? I find that interesting as well. I know a lot about Greek culture and their ancient religion, and I wanted to learn more about that. If there a good website or post that I could have the link to that I may have, I would be grateful!

Hellenic or Greek Reconstructionists (Hellenists, Hellenes, Hellenism) are generally polytheists who worship and revere the ancient Greek Olympian gods. It is primarily a 'votive' religion where 'offerings' or gifts to the Gods are an important element of ritual practice. Hellenismos has a highly developed ethical system based upon moderation, hospitality and reciprocity, place great value on scholarship and specifically on the use of classical texts.
