The sun was setting as it did every day in nature. Never interrupted. Never questioned. Never doubted. Pavitra had just landed from flying to watch the rest of the violet and red and orange beams disappear with their creator. It always felt good to have a relaxing, peaceful moment such as this one.

Wow. I'm over the top mushy tonight. Grinning to himself, Pavitra felt how odd it was to feel happy over something as a sunset. Turning his back once the sun was completely hidden, he turned to find the moon beamed down at him. He even swore he say a face in it.

The mare stood in a patch of moonlight, her head swaying to and fro to the beat of her own soul. She hummed softly, golden eyes closed to the world around her. She was a shadow in the light, her white mane and tail a slim stream of silver. Shadena loved nights like this, when it was chill and the air crisp, and when the light that fell from the heavens was vibrant and pure.

But a noise gave her pause. It sounded like someone else was out and about this night.

Turning her head toward the noise, she let out a soft nickering. "Who's there?" She spoke, her voice a meager sound in the still night.

He was so intensely staring into the moon, he forgot you should never loose yourself when you're alone in the dark. Especially since day or night, his pelt shines like the moon itself. "Hello?" He spoke uneasily, craning to see who was in his company. Not that he minded. Social butterfly, that was Pavitra. But not knowing wasn't a good thing.

"My names Pavitra, friend..." He waited in the dark, eyes darting from shadow to shadow, imagining them moving.

A male? The voice she heard in answer wasn't threatening, yet it would take more then a sweet voice to stir her away from being nervous. A softly glowing object caught her eye, and she turned her attention toward it. My oh my... She stepped from the shaded area she stood in, and tilted her head to one side, golden eyes taking in the sight before her. The stallion was like an ethereal object, or a ghost come to haunt her.

"My name is Shadena, and I am no less meaning to startle you as you must be to me." She said with a small laugh. She continued trotting forward, until she stood a bare few feet away. "You glow..." She was transfixed, never having come into contact with one as brilliant.

A blush glowed. He was startled for nothing. Or darn it. He inwardly scolded himself for being so oblivious and jumpy. It was just a polite mare enjoying the moon light, like him. Thought he couldn't see her clearly, her mane was beautiful. And her eyes were like a felines with out pupils. Glowing gold.

He hadn't know how to respond until she commented on his color. "Oh no, well not literally." he stammered along, grinning foolishly. "I'm just bright is all." The blush deepened. "The moon makes my fur stand out more. In the sun though, it kind of hurts your eyes, or can. Like staring at snow wrong sometimes would?" Shifting hoof to hoof, Pavitra twitched his wings nervously. Why was he being nervous?

Shadena watched him, her ears twitching to and fro, and she felt a small laugh escape her lips. What a strange stallion he was. Though, she lacked in the experience to spread among other Soquili. She wondered for a brief second why she was avoided. Was she scary? She didn't think so....

"I am on the darker side, am I not? I am a shadow, I don't really stand out much unless you look..." She swished her tail, dancing on the tips of her hooves for a moment. She trotted a little closer to lip at his wing curiously. Having none, and no friends to look at closer, she was but sweetly curious about his appendages. "Is flying a grand thing? To fly among the cloud like a dove.... Dove! You remind me of a dove." She giggled at her own realization. "So brilliantly white. A glowing apparition."

She backed off a few step, her head tilted to the side. She wondered why he seemed nervous, and why she felt so comforted by his presence.

"A dove? That... has to be one of the most original comparisons of me, that I've ever heard." Giggling ever so girlishly, Pavitra smiled brilliantly at the mare. What wonderful company he'd stumbled upon! "Usually I get 'ghost' or something like that." He was easing into a more comfortable state, eying the mare as she examed his wings. Personal space wasn't a big thing to Pavitra at all. He outstretched them for her, as wide as they would go. Which about was the length of his chest to hindquaters. As she looked closer, Pavitra studied her more.

"You remind me feline, I think. Easily concealed. Stealthy. Your eyes, beautiful. Highly observational. Something I never mastered." He giggled again. A giggle box tonight.

"Like I haven't heard that before." she scoffed with a roll of her eyes. Actually, she hadn't, but who was he to know. But the word that startled her most was: beautiful. Never had anyone said that her to describer her. "I'm not very stealthy, though. I tend to trip, or step on something loud. I'm definitely not like a Skinwalker... though to be so felinesque and feral would certainly be an experience." She smiled at him, examining the feathers of the delicate wing, and out of the corner of her eye, his face.

He was truly enigmatic, a figure against the darkness that seemed so foreign and otherworldy. Yet here he was. Talking to her, of all mares.

"You could have fooled me." Grinning again, you wouldn't know of the fear that pelted his insides like a cold rain that turned his stomach into knots. At the mention of skinwalkers, terror shot through his body at the speed faster than lightening. Skinwalkers were monsters of the worse kind that Pavitra had never encountered. And was he thankful for it. He'd heard tales as a foul and evidence of their existence, and that was enough for him. Knowing he was safely with another of his own made the fear edge out of his mind, but left his under fur moist with a quick sweat from panic. Oh, brave aren't you? Hmph.

Shadena watched the stallion with an ambiguous expression upon her face. He seemed nervous about the talk of Skinwalkers, which made her smile slightly, though not at the fact he was afraid, but the fact that he showed such emotions when most others would have been, "I'm not afraid of any Skinwalkers..." Riiiight. She snorted, and turned her gaze upward to look at the star-filled sky. "I wonder... What would it be like to be a star? Do you ever wonder? To look down upon everyone from afar, and yet to shine so brightly as to have everyone look up at you with serenity." She snickered, her gaze falling to look at the pale horse.

"I know what you're thinking. I'm odd, yes? I guess it's because I've never had someone who didn't ignore me and it feels rather... nice."

"To be a ball of fire in the sky? It would be... lonely I think. You have others like you surrounding you. But you don't communicate. You don't socialize. You don't feel. You watch.. longingly.. at the ground where all these creatures are meeting, greeting, loving, hating, procreating... And you have to sit and watch jealously."

Jeez Louise. Did I eat some kind of Shakespearen leaves, or something? It was rare that Pavitra would form all this philosophical emotions into words. Normally he just felt the thoughts, not really forming them into something to show for them.

He turned back towards the mare after staring at the stars of his speal. "I don't think you're odd at all!" Had he done something to make her think that? He thought of her as great company. "Why would anyone ignore you? You're very insightful."

Shadena laughed softly. What a wonder it was to have someone else to speak her mind to, and get opinions. She turned her gaze to the ethereally white stallion and smiled. "Perhaps you have a point." She said as she mulled over his words. Would she be lonely to be a star, without the company of others? Tch. She lacked much of that already.

When Pavitra wondered why someone would ignore her, she couldn't help but scoff quietly. "It would be like saying why someone ignores the ant on the ground. It's because you don't notice the things that aren't necessary to be noticed." She rolled her shoulders, and walked forward into the moonlight with a small sigh. "It's been like this. I am a little dot to some. But... You took notice when others didn't." She smiled, turning her gold gaze upon him once more. "Thanks for that."

Pavitra moved with her, with out noticing. Maybe he wasn't ready for their conversation to end, or he was seeking company more than he realized. But when he saw her face again, he saw how her hair had been tossed back more, and her eye appeared like a star above them, surrounded by the black of her coat.

"I don't see how you could go unnoticed." He smiled, honest by his words
.

A chuckle escaped her, looking at him with a serene smile. "I don't mind it. It has it perks, and it's drawbacks. But it isn't that bad." She said. "Just imagine it as if it were a rose bush. Oh how beautiful it is, standing there, noticed yet avoided for it's thorns. You could risk trying to get a rose, but you would likely get hurt in the process." Even as she said it, she knew she must have sounded rather melodramatic. but it was a good metaphor to how people treated her.

"You, on the other hand, must be a star in someone's eyes. You are outgoing, and have a spark that attracts others. That's a gift, don't you think?"

Pavitra laughed. Out right laughed. "Me? Outgoing? Oh, no. Not at all." His broad smile slipped, and continued to shrink. "I'm actually deathly shy. And spineless. Cowardly."
He looked away, eying the shadows, wondering what was inside. Almost like he was staring into the darkness of Shadena's fur. So much mystery hides in darkness. Not all of it bad. In fact, often times, good. But so well hidden.
