Team MistMelody's Room

Team MistMelody are the owners of their own small section of the West Wing, courtesy of the Guild of the Sun. They had their quarters enlarged after placing a request on account of their growing Team, and now they have a three room space all to themselves. It is the perfect size for the Team, cozy, but not crowded. Of course it is decorated with basic furnishings, nothing too excessive, but a few ornaments here and there, bringing the idea of simple, yet elegant.

The front of the main room contains a decent-sized pool which has a small waterfall that provides a method of replenishing the pool with clean water constantly, by recycling the old water via a series of pipes and filters. The pool is there both for the benefit of the Water Pokemon of the Team, and for decoration, which is surrounded by rocks of varying shapes and sizes. Nearby the pool is a beautiful garden lovingly maintained by the Team's resident Shaymin. Flowers and plants of all types grow there, some which wouldn't even normally be able to grow in the conditions there, and all are lush and blossoming from the perfect amount of care. Near the side a patch of Gracidea grow at all times, both for their beauty and they're usage. A few large jugs are to the right of the entrance, filled with fruits for the Team and guests to eat when the need arises, and on the wall next to them is the Team stock. This is held in a cabinet which contains everything that is in the Team's stores, aside from those things in the bag.

The back of the main room is highlighted by a large window which looks out at the city and lands below. There are curtains hang on either side in case the Team wants privacy, but most often they hang open so that the picturesque view can be appreciated.

In the corner of the room not taken up by the window, lies a large grass nest which contains Pokemon eggs that the Team has collected. That corner of the room is constantly warm and the members of the Team keep constant watch for any sign of life there.

The Team also, mostly because of Ethfael, has compiled a few bookshelves filled with books, both for informational, and entertainment purposes. These are nearby the egg nest and are always kept properly arranged by author. Several large comfy pillows are to its left in order for any Team member or guest who wants to read to have a comfortable place to do so.

To the left is where the sleeping areas lie. They are made according to each individual's liking, and there is a peg between Era and Ethfael's beds which hold the Team's bag, conveniently hung there when the team is asleep or just relaxing so it can be grabbed quickly by either Leader whenever it is needed.

To the right is a sort of dining room that has a table and several chairs where the Team shares its daily meals. A small kitchen is in there as well, where Era will bake on the rare occasion that she has the chance. A cupboard is filled neatly with dishes and silverware to be used on special occasions and various foodstuffs are kept about as well.

How Team MistMelody Got Its Name

Era & Ethfael

Era led the way, a skip in her step as she hurried down the hall. "Here we are!" she said to her new partner pointing to a door. "They told us this room was all ours!" The Pichu was bubbling with excitement. Today was her first day in the guild and they had assigned her Team this room in the Palace! She hadn't realized that the Guild lived in a palace, and for a Pichu who didn't know much of city life, let alone royalty, it was very overwhelming. "Come on!" she said, pulling the Dratini with her. "Let's look inside!"

Ethfael sighed allowing himself to be dragged along, when he had come to the Guild he hadn't expected the partner system to be as random as it was. They'd had him draw a number and then had bunched him up with this Pichu. Did the Guild really have so many potential recruits that they could do that? The Pichu seemed to be a bit... over energetic for his taste, but he'd better get used to it, seeing as they'd be stuck together for a long time.

Era opened the door and walked in, immediately halting at what she saw. A look of astonishment came over her face, quickly to be replaced by a look of delight. "Look at this!" she squeaked, "It's...It's...!" She was amazed beyond words. The room was lovely and spacious, and had all the furnishings that a good home could possibly need. "It's remarkable..."

Ethfael walked in closing the door behind them, and took in the surroundings with a good deal of surprise, although it wasn't as much as his partner's. She was right, the place was quite elegant, and suited his liking quite nicely. Ethfael went over to the large picture window, looking outside with contentment. This would do very nicely. "It's quite nice..." he said quietly, more to himself than to the Pichu.

Era nodded, hurrying to join him by the window. "It is, isn't it?" She smiled brightly at him, and then extended her small paw, "By the way, we haven't really had a proper introduction yet, have we? My name's Era,"

Ethfael touched her paw with his tail, "Mine would be Ethfael," he told her, "I take it we'll be working together for a while Miss Era."

Era blinked, startled by the formality of his tone, "No, no," she said, "Just Era please. And yes, we're leaders of a Rescue Team!" Just saying it sent a surge of joy through her. She finally was a member of a Rescue Team! And Leader nonetheless! She thought she'd never been so excited in all her life.

"If you insist Era," Ethfael said, finding his attempt at keeping a bit of distance from her foiled. Ah well, better to just bear it, and hopefully get used to it. Something caught his eye outside and he turned to look at the window, trying to get a better look. This was very difficult due to a sudden mist that had rolled in. Ethfael peered outside curiously; it was odd, mist didn't suddenly appear without warning, and yet it had been clear outside when they had come into the room.

Era's eyes lit up, oblivious to her partner's pondering. "That's right!" she said, "We have to come up with a Team name! Any ideas?" Ethfael was silent, looking out the window intently, so Era tried again. "What do you think our Team name should be?"

"Hush," Ethfael replied, looking at her briefly, "Do you hear that?" Era cocked her head and fell silent, listening. As they both listened, a sort of music became audible to them. An eerie haunting song that could only be heard in the silence. Era opened her mouth to speak, but Ethfael silenced her with a look. Then he pointed outside, where shadows were able to be seen in the mist, although what they were was uncertain.

The two waited, watching closely, and they at last were able to spot what was flying outside in the mist. There, slicing through the mist with the speed of their flight were a Latios and Latias, seeming to be playing in the sky. They were what was causing the music, their cries blending to sound almost like a tune. Era stifled a gasp of surprise, and Ethfael's eyes widened. What were two legendaries doing out there? They both watched the scene before them, enraptured at the sight.

The Latios disappeared after a few minutes, flying off, but the Latias stayed, moving as if to follow, but then turning and looking back. It spotted Era and Ethfael who both froze, hearts in their throats as it casually made its way over to them, pausing just outside the window. The Latias's eyes had a friendly glint, and it crooned a bit of it's song. Era smiled and Ethfael looked on in awe that a legendary was even just looking at them. Suddenly, the Latios reappeared beside the Latias, causing both Era and Ethfael to jump in surprise. It looked at the Latias and gestured back, and the Latias nodded, giving them one last look before turning and disappearing into the mist. The Latios looked at them slightly haughtily, but after a moment of looking them over nodded its head to them before following the Latias and vanishing. Then, just like that, the mist began to fade away and sunlight cut through again.

Era and Ethfael exchanged a long look, and Era broke the silence, "That was just-"

Ethfael nodded, cutting her off, "It was." With one last look out the window, Ethfael said, "MistMelody." Era looked confused, so he continued, "I think Team MistMelody sounds like a good name."

Era smiled once she caught on, and followed Ethfael's example of looking out the window. "That sounds nice," she said, "We'll be Team MistMelody!"

Ethfael nodded, "The Team that hunts down secrets and legends, even through the hardest troubles."

"And the Team that will never give up." Era said. They looked at each other and nodded once in agreement. And so the adventures of Team MistMelody began.

Era & Ethfael

Era and Ethfael made it back to their room without further incident except for the memories. Of course, those were more than enough to ensure that things were going to be terrible. Both of them still held the gristly images of the events from the afterlife in their minds, something which they would rather forget. Once inside, Era numbly placed their new egg next to the one from their mission in the nest. Ethfael hung the bag over the peg by his bed and took his usual spot at the window, unspeaking. Era went over to him once she had accomplished her task, needing some sort of comfort from him, as well as hoping to provide a bit herself. "Would you tell me now?" she asked him. "What happened back there that you didn't want to talk about?"

Ethfael sighed bowing his head. He had known that he'd have to tell her, but had dreaded speaking of it anyway. "Wrath..." he said, thinking of the now living Raichu with contempt, "He turned your mind." The Dratini whispered grimly, "You attacked me, and some of our Guildmates, but luckily you didn't manage to harm anyone too much." He didn't mention that she had managed to land a few blows on him, or how frightened he had been that her mind was gone for good like Zero's.

Era's eyes widened in horror that she could have done something like that, which quickly led to shame and guilt that crept over her making her wish she could just disappear. How could she have attacked Ethfael? He was her best friend and only companion, and...she blushed slightly hoping that Ethfael didn't notice. No, how could she have done something to hurt him... "I'm sorry," she murmured, "I never would have done something like that in my right mind... I can't believe Wrath could do something like that."

Ethfael looked at her warmly, "It's alright, I know you wouldn't have," he told her, "I was just afraid... he didn't complete the thought, instead he wrapped himself around the Pichu in a hug.

Era was startled, but then hugged him back, tears forming in her eyes. "Thank you..." she said, "Thank you for having faith in me. I won't let you down, I promise."

Ethfael released her from the hug and nodded, meeting her eyes, "I know."

Era & Ethfael & Erinn

"Where have you been!" Erinn shouted as Ethfael helped Era in through the door. "You've been gone for such a long time that... The Paras stopped talking as he looked Era and Ethfael over, taking in how worn the pair looked. Ethfael silently looked at Era, who gestured toward the window, and he gently led her there only turning to face a speechless Erinn when he was certain Era was alright. "What happened?" Erinn asked quietly, looking at Era with concern.

"Darkrai," Ethfael answered, a look of pure and unadulterated hatred on his face. Erinn paled visibly at the name, looking at Era again with even more concern and a touch of fear. Not even bothering to wait for Erinn to ask, Ethfael explained what had happened,"We traveled to the Tribe of Everlasting Balance, and ended up meeting Darkrai." His scowl deepened as he continued, "He put her in a nightmare that she couldn't escape, and we were all only saved thanks to Alfred." Era shuddered as the nightmare was mentioned, and Ethfael looked at her with concern again, even as Erinn gaped in disbelief at his tale.

"You fought Darkrai?!" Erinn said in dismay, "How did you survive?! What are the Guildmasters thinking sending you to do something like that?!"

The Paras had worked himself into a fit and went on babbling as Ethfael went over to check on Era. "Are you alright?" he asked her softly.

Era looked up at him with dark eyes and then hugged him once more, squeezing her eyes shut and clinging to him like he was the only thing securing her to the world. "I'm afraid," she whispered. "I thought...I thought that I had reached the end. That Darkrai was going to suck the very life out of me through that nightmare." She didn't specify about the terrible dream, unwilling to relive it. Those horrors were something that she would bear alone.

Ethfael returned the hug, not knowing what else he could do. The Pichu was still in shock from Darkrai probing her mind, that was clear, but what could be done for her in that case. Erinn silenced himself and went over to his Team leader. "Are you alright Era?" the Paras asked, feeling very insignificant and unhelpful in this situation.

Era released Ethfael and forced herself to smile. "I'll be fine," she assured him, Erinn looked uncertain and Ethfael skeptical, but neither argued. "Really, it will be fine," she said, trying to put the strength she didn't have behind her words. "Don't worry about me."

"I worry when you say that," Ethfael said darkly, "It seems like whenever you say that something disasterous befalls you. Both with Wrath and with Darkrai the same thing happened!" The Dratini was beside himself with concern, and Erinn backed up a pace, away from his leaders, watching them nervously. "Please Era!" Ethfael said, "Just rely on us for a change. Don't force yourself to be strong for us because that only makes us worry! Darkrai sent you into a nightmare that you might never have woken up from, so it's alright for you to be afraid! I was terrified..." he admitted, quieting his tone, "Terrified that you wouldn't come back."

Era's gaze softened and she put her paw on the Dratini's back gently. "Alright," she said, causing him to look up, "I've said it before and I'll say it again: I trust you. I only try to be strong for the Team, so if you want me to stop then I will. I would never want to upset you," she said, adressing both of them, "You're my friends, and I don't know what I'd do without you." Era sighed, feeling drained to the core all of a sudden, and leaned against the window for support.

Ethfael leaned down under her arm and led her to her bed, laying her down gently. "Rest well," he whispered as Era's eyes closed and the Pichu fell asleep. Turning to Erinn he noticed the Spores that had settled on top of Era. Brushing them off, he covered the Pichu with a blanket, watching her peaceful expression as she slept.

Erinn came over beside him, "It will help her sleep," was all he said, "And no nightmares will haunt her there, just a peaceful rest."

Ethfael nodded gratefully to their younger Teammate. The boy had a good heart. "Leave her be for now," he whispered, looking down at her with a hint of tenderness in his eyes, "May the nightmares leave before she wakes."

Era & Ethfael & Erinn & Phione & Sereni & Rivia

Ethfael hurried into the Team Room, Phione following with a slightly dejected look on his face. Once inside, the Dratini looked around with a desperate look on his face, afraid of what he might find. Once his eyes fell on Era he let out a sigh of relief, quickly to be replaced by concern at the notice of burn marks which covered her body. The Pichu was looking down into the pool with a clearly nervous expression, and Erinn, who was occupying Rivia, was shooting nervous glances in that direction.

As Ethfael took everything in, Phione had frozen the instant it came into the room, sensing from the mood that something was terribly wrong. It hurried over to the pool, his young eyes widening with terror at what he saw. "Seri?" he managed to squeak out, all thoughts of missing his friend replaced with fear for the Lanturn. He looked at Era and back to the pool with frightened eyes, and then dove into the pool without further delay.

Era sighed, swallowing hard to clear the lump in her throat. Sereni had collapsed the moment that they had gotten back, and she had gotten Erinn's help to push the Lanturn into the water in hopes that it would help her. It had seemed to help at first, her breathing steadied as she floated in the water, but it still was far more shallow than it should have been. The burn marks still showed angrily on her skin, whereas Era's had faded a bit after she had doused herself in water. Ethfael came over and gasped at the sight of their wounded Teammate. "What happened..." he said in disbelief.

Era looked at Ethfael wearily, "Mercutio led us into battle against Heatran," she informed him, "Everyone was hurt but Sereni apparently was hurt more than she let on. She attacked it face to face, so perhaps it was a full on attack that made those burns. She didn't talk about it when we came back, and then she just collapsed..." Era's voice quavered as she looked down at Phione and Sereni. It had been the Lanturn's first mission, so why had something like this happened? It wasn't fair. "I would give her some voltage to heal herself with..." she said, "But unless her burns are dealt with it won't do any good."

Ethfael looked at Sereni sadly, "Did you try a Rawst Berry?" he asked.

Era shook her head, "She hasn't woken up since we got here, and she seems to be okay for now. If worst comes to worst we can force feed her I suppose..." Ethfael nodded, and they both exchanged a worried glance before looking back down at Phione and Sereni.

Phione circled around Sereni, looking over her with a worried expression. The young Pokemon saw Sereni as a guardian just like it saw Era and Ethfael, and now that she was hurt, he didn't know what to do. "Seri..." he said to her, "Seri!"

The Lanturn stirred slightly from her sleep, looking at Phione and smiled slightly. "Phione," she said, "I missed you."

Phione bobbed up and down with anxiety, "Seri hurt..." he said, pointing at her burns, "No hurt..."

Sereni looked over her burns, wincing as she was wracked with pain from the motion. "I was burned by some fire," she told the young Pokemon, "I need these to go away." With a sigh she closed her eyes again, willing the pain to leave.

Phione watched with concern, then his eyes lit up with pleasure. "Better!" the young Water Type said, "Make Seri better!" He bounced up and down, spinning around the Lanturn. "Make it better!" As Phione spun, his antenna glowed and as it bounced the antenna emitted a loud and pure chiming sound, the little Pokemon using Heal Bell to aid it's ailing Teammates.

Sereni gasped as the burns on her skin began to fade, being covered by normal skin as if the never had been, and the pain receding with the burns. "Phione," she said quietly in a voice overflowing with gratitude, "Thank you."

Phione giggled with pleasure, "Seri better!" it said with delight. Looking up through the water he spotted the burns on Era and giggled again. "Era too!" he said, "Make Era better!" Spiraling up out of the water, Phione splashed Era and Ethfael who had been watching the events with astonishment. Once again, Phione's antenna glowed and the peal of a bell rang out in Heal Bell, causing Era's burns to heal. "Era too! Era too!" he cried, bouncing up and down through the air.

Sereni came up to watch the spectacle, and even Rivia who was being closely watched by Erinn on the other side of the room paused her playing to look at the Phione. A stunned silence fell over them as Phione's Heal Bell faded, leaving a smiling Phione looking at them expectantly. Era looked at Phione and then smiled, relieved and amazed. "Phione, what would we have done without you?"

The little Pokemon giggled again and hugged her. "All better!" he said with a smile.

The three watched him bounce over to Erinn and Rivia and begin chatting contentedly as if nothing had happened. They exchanged glances of surprise and slight bemusement at what had just happened. "I think we owe a personal thank you to Manaphy when we see him next," Ethfael said at last.

"Agreed," Era said, "He saved your life Sereni." Sereni just nodded, unable to speak from gratitude as they all looked one last time at the smiling Phione. "Thank you Phione," Era said softly, "Thank you."

Katara

"Y-you're not coming?"

"This is your gift Katara. Don't worry, it'll be fine."

A certain Ditto-turned-Skarmory gulped as she paused in front of the room, took a deep breath, and then leaned forward to knock gently with her beak. Her wings were tucked and folded against the side of her body, a small package hanging from the tip of a razor-sharp feather.

It was a small giftbox, covered (rather haphazardly) in what appeared to be random marker marks, glitter, and stickers. It hung from the feather with a small gold ribbon. If one looked closely enough, across one side of was box, in black marker, was very clumsily written "To Sereni".

A Skarmory was not the best form for decorating anything. Neither was really any of her other known Transformations. Not to mention Katara grew up in the wild; she had barely any idea what half the stuff was when Lilium brought in the craft supplies.

Sereni & Phione

Sereni looked up from the book she had been reading at the knock at the door. Erinn had left with Rivia just a few minutes ago, so surely it was them, and Era and Ethfael were delivering Secret Santa gifts, which meant... Phione bounced out of the water to the door, eager to see who it was. "Wait Phione! That's probably-!" Sereni began, but the little Water Pokemon had already opened up the door, staring up at their visitor in surprise.

"Hi hi!" he said cheerfully backing up to let the Skarmory in, "Merry Christmas!" Phione was very proud of itself for picking up the holiday greeting so quickly and dashed over to where Sereni waited. "Visitor!" he announced.

Sereni was already halfway to the door, before Phione spoke, smiling brightly at the Skarmory. "Hello," she said in her usual quiet tones. Politely, the Lanturn introduced herself. "I'm Sereni and you've met Phione," she said, "The others are out right now." Noting the present that the Skarmory carried, she realized why their visitor had come, "Are you here for the Secret Santa?" According to the note that she had recieved, the Skarmory must be there for her, but she couldn't see the gift tag, so it didn't hurt to double check.

Katara

Katara blinked when a small blue...blob...answered the door, trying desperately to remember the image of a Lanturn that Lilium had showed her from a book. This little one doesn't look exactly like the picture, but maybe it...?

It was then that the Skarmory spotted Sereni and sighed in relief. She was it; she looked just like the one from the book. Well, at least she had those little...glowy things on her head.

"Ah yes, I am, um, Katara. You are...Serena- no, Sereni?" Katara cringed at her own slip up.

Sereni & Phione

Sereni smiled, trying to seem friendly as she sensed the Skarmory's discomfort. Her antenna shone brightly, a biproduct of her current contentment. Christmas was such an enjoyable time, it was no wonder that Era was so thrilled at the prospect of it. "That's right," she said in response to Katara's question, "I'm Sereni. It's alright," she added, "It's not a very common name, so lot's of people mispronounce it."

Phione was intrigued by their visitor hovering about her incessantly and examining her from all levels. He'd never seen a Pokemon as...sharp as this one was, or with wings for that matter. She seemed to glint like the metal things that Era and Ethfael would take out every now and then. As Sereni talked to the strange new Pokemon, Phione spotted a parcel attached to her wing. "Pretty!" he said with a smile, pointing at it. He'd heard the Skarmory introduce herself, and prodded her gently at the leg. "Why 'Tara have pretty?" Sereni blinked with surprise, unaware that Phione had been paying that much attention. Oh well, she thought, "Kids will be kids."

Katara

Katara shied backwards when the small Water-type reached for her leg, reluctant to make any sort of contact. The small one looked so delicate, so fragile, and Katara was well aware of the deadly edges of her armoured body. She has had more than once accidentally cut a friend.

She hesitated at the question before responding.

"This is...this is a present for Sereni."
She explained, and then realized she was addressing the Phione instead of the Laturn, which she probably should be since she is the recipient of the gift. She looked away as if trying to hide her face, carefully stretching out her wing and allowing the golden ribbon to slip off the feather. The box landed in front of Sereni.

Inside, wrapped in padding was a small blue pendant- a Mystic Water. That wasn't it though- a soothing magical aura seems to emanate from it. The necklace had been enchanted to double as a Calm Mind TM.

Sereni & Phione

Sereni smiled at the welcome news. She had figured that Katara was her Secret Santa from the beginning, but it was reassuring to hear it from her own mouth. The Skarmory let the present drop in front of her, and Sereni looked up at her for approval that she should open it. Katara however was looking away intently. She seemed slightly more timid than Sereni would have expected a Skarmory to be, but everyone had their own quirks, and she wasn't one to judge others. Phione bounced about watching Sereni and the gift intently. "Open, open!" it urged her with a bright smile.

Sereni took the package in her fins and admired it's decoration. She could tell that someone, presumably Katara, had spent a long time taking care to make the box look nice. It wasn't wrapped, so she gently took off the lid and gasped when she saw what was inside. She set the box down, removing the pendant carefully from its padding. "It's beautiful," she whispered, taking care as she lifted it over her brightly shining lights to hang it around her neck. As she did, she felt the magical pulse from it as it rested on her neck. "Thank you so much," she said to Katara, beaming with pleasure.

Katara

Katara let out a little sigh of relief at Sereni's words. She liked it! Lilium had spent days reassuring Katara that the necklace would be just fine, but the Ditto-Skarmory couldn't help but worry.

"Happy Holidays." She murmured with an inclined head, carefully folding her wing back up against her body until her more delicate purple feathers were all hidden from sight. She waited for a moment longer, trying to remember if there was anything else to be done, before quietly dismissing herself and turning down the hallway back towards her Team Room.

Sereni & Phione

"Happy Holidays to you too," Sereni said with a warm smile going to the door to wave goodbye to the Skarmory. She really was a sweet girl, but clearly she hadn't wanted to stick around for any longer than was necessary. She was sad to see her go so soon, but perhaps they would have time to chat some other time. After all, they all lived here as Guild members, so there was bound to be some other time when their paths would cross.

"Happy Happy Holidays!" Phione called out to the Skarmory as she headed back to her own Team Room. "Happy Holidays 'Tara!" The small Pokemon waved until the Skarmory had vanished from view, all too pleased to have made a new friend. "Friends, friends, friendly friends," Phione sang cheerfully as it floated back into the room, and Sereni turned back as well, leaving the door open, and touching a fin to her present with yet another smile.

Sereni floated over to the cabinet where the Team's stock was kept, and pulled out a festively wrapped package from within. She looked it over carefully, and then turned to Phione, "Alright Phione," she told him, "It's time for me to deliver my Secret Santa gift."

"Secret secret!" Phione chimed in brightly.

"Yes, that's right," Sereni said. "Era and Ethfael should be back soon, the same with Erinn and Rivia, so you get to be in charge until then, alright?"

"'Kay 'kay!" Phione said with a smile, "Bye-bye Seri!"

Sereni smiled, patting Phione gently on the head, "See you later Phione!" and with that she headed out, present in hand, to deliver her own gift.

Era & Ethfael & Erinn & Phione & Sereni & Rivia & Riley & Faran

Era and Ethfael led their two new Team members into the main area of the Team Room. Riley and Faran were both eagerly drinking in the sights of their new home as quickly as they could, the former with a silent sort of rapture, and the latter bouncing up and down eagerly on his paws. It's so big! Faran cried excitedly, "How did you get such a huge room?"

Era laughed, slightly embarrassed, "It's not that big really, it's actually one of the smaller suites when it comes to Team Rooms." She made a mental note to speak to someone about getting a larger room. They were going to have a hard time fitting in with eight Team members; even with six it had been a little cozy at times. The other four members of the Team hadn't been there since last night for some reason, maybe they'd gone out?

Suddenly, and without any warning, Era found herself tackled to the ground by Phione who had just come in behind them. "Era~!" he said happily, nuzzling against her, "Era back now!"

The Pichu laughed, patting Phione on the head as both Riley and Faran watched curiously. As she managed to stand up again, Phione still clinging to her, Sereni and Erinn walked in, Rivia padded benignly on all fours behind. "Welcome back," Sereni said cheerily, scooping up Rivia in her fins, much to the child's delight. Eying Riley and Faran she added, "I take it the mission was a success?"

"Yes," Era said, "These two are Riley and Faran, they're the two newest members of Team MistMelody! Riley, Faran, these are Erinn, Sereni, Phione, and Rivia"-she gestured to each as she spoke their name-"And they're the rest of our Team."

Riley bowed with an elegant flourish, "Greetings," he said, "I'm Riley..." With a wink at Era and Ethfael, who both could anticipate what he was about to do, Riley pulled a shimmering gold coin from thin air and showed it to his audience. Then he grasped it in his paw, only to have it vanish. With a grin, he walked up to Erinn to shake his claw, and produced the coin from the Paras's claw after they shook. He continued with each in turn: on top of her lights for Sereni, at the tip of her tail for Rivia, and on the end of Phione's long antenna. "...And I am a magician." he concluded as he finished his trick by swallowing the coin and then pulling it once more from behind Faran's ear before having it vanish, leaving only the vaguest shimmering lights behind.

All of the others applauded, wearing various expressions of delight at Riley's trick and he grinned. "Again, again!" Phione cried, bouncing up and down around Riley.

The Eevee laughed pleasantly. "Maybe later, alright?"

Phione nodded, clearly eager to see more, but Faran looked most disappointed. "Awww... But that was so cool!" The Vulpix blushed a bit when everyone looked at him and he ducked his head sheepishly. "Ummm... I'm Faran, and...yeah...I can't do all that cool stuff he just did."

The entire room burst out laughing, not unkindly, and Ethfael smiled, giving the timid Vulpix a pat on the back, "Don't worry, none of us can do that," he assured him.

"Nope!" Riley said proudly, "I'm one of a kind so they say."

Faran smiled a bit, cheering up, and Era smiled as well, pleased. "Well then, I think that's every-"

"Not quite!" Sereni cut in, a smile on her face. "We have something for you. Phione?"

The little Water-Type spun around in delight, "Yay! Present! Present!" He bolted out of the room, only to return, carrying a letter with him. Phione thrust it toward Era eagerly, clearly wanting her to read it. "Look! Look!"

Era opened it carefully and gasped with surprise at what she found. Small cards were laid neatly inside, each with different writing. There was one each from Ethfael, Erinn, Sereni, Phione, and Rivia; and there were also some from people whom she had met long before such as Derrick, Trillion, the Corsola they'd met in Mana Reef, the Ratatta from her first mission, one from Riley, Faran, Faran's sister, Lydia, Ielena, the kids from their orphanage, and even one from Manaphy himself. Pulling them out of the package, each individually, Era looked around the room in surprise, "What's all this for?" she asked, bewildered.

"Did you forget Era?" Ethfael asked her, "Today's your birthday."

Both Riley and Faran grinned with delight. "Last night Ethfael filled us in, and we tracked down Lydia and Ielena for him. He hadn't even known we were going to join the Team then, but it was, what he called, "the Team's surprise" for you."

"While you were gone, we found everyone and asked them to write you a note to wish you a happy birthday!" Erinn said excitedly. "They all seemed pretty happy to do it."

Era's smile could have lit up the darkest cavern as she looked around at her Team. "Thank you so much!" she said, awestruck. "You have no idea how much this means to me."

"Happy birthday Era," Ethfael said with a smile.

Phione smiled, bouncing around the group once more in his joy. "Happy happy birthday! Happy happy birthday!"

Era smiled once more, heart full to bursting at her gift and the dedication of all of her Teammates. Really, she thought warmly, looking around at all of their happy faces, Thank you so much.

Era & Ethfael & Erinn & Phione & Sereni & Rivia & Riley & Faran & Celus & Avaria

For the most part, the day was like was like any other. Everyone was relaxing, on break for a while from the constant stream of Missions that they had been taking recently. It was Easter and spirits were high, Era had made up a small Easter Egg hunt for the kids around the Team Room, and now the three youngest were munching on sweets that had been hidden in cleverly concealed toy Eggs. Riley and Erinn were taking turns playing with the children as Sereni watched over them all, and Ethfael and Celus discussed some matter or another quietly in the corner. Era was sitting on a cushion, blissfully content to watch her Team enjoying themselves, so much so that she almost failed to hear a very soft knock on the door. Her ears both pricked up as she caught the faint noise and she headed over to the door with a pleasant smile on her face, wondering who it might be. She opened the door with a cheerful expression, "Happy Easter!" she said, before looking to see who their guest was. When she did see, the Pikachu did a double-take, scarcely believing her eyes. There before her stood a Shaymin; a Legendary Pokemon, at her Team's door!

As Era struggled to find her voice, the small Legendary smiled, "A very happy Easter to you as well," came a voice, which Era found strikingly familiar. She wasn't the only one; at the sound of the voice, Ethfael, Riley, Faran, Phione, and Celus all turned to look at the visitor, each one but Phione responding with shock and amazement at the sight of the Shaymin. Phione merely smiled at the memory of the voice; he was the son of a Legendary himself so perhaps the sight of another didn't enthrall him as much as it did the others, either that or he was simply too young to understand. Soon the three who hadn't turned right away joined the others in gawking, even little Rivia looked mildly surprised, as if she could tell something was different about this Pokemon. The Shaymin didn't seem to mind the amount of attention she was getting, merely looking up at Era, "Would you mind if I came in?"

Era practically tripped over herself to get out of the Shaymin's way, still staring although she knew it was rude, "Y-Yes, of course, go right ahead," she said, ushering the Shaymin inside. It was impossible for her to get over the fact that, seemingly out of nowhere, this, this Legend was standing before them, was sitting down on a cushion in their own humble Team Room. It was like a dream, but this...this was real. "May I get you anything?" she asked politely, trying to be hospitable even though she still hadn't quite recovered her senses yet.

"Mineral water would be very nice if you have any, only if it's pure though," the Shaymin replied, "If it's not too much trouble that is."

"No, it's no trouble at all," Era said, hurrying off to the kitchen. Luckily pure mineral water was something that they always had on hand, Phione wouldn't drink anything else either. Maybe it was a trait among those who were or were descended from Legends? She returned in a moment with a small glass, perfectly sized for the Shaymin to drink from, and placed it down in front of her.

"Thank you," the Shaymin said, taking a sip of the drink, "You are very kind."

Faran was on his paws, looking at her strangely, and finally spoke up as the Shaymin drank. "Hey Miss, you're different than last time!" he piped up, causing all of the adults to look at him with dismay, "Weren't you a Bellossom back in that maze?"

The Shaymin laughed and once again the six who had been there felt the nostagia of hearing that laugh again. "We're one and the same," she replied, "I had borrowed a friend's help to disguise me. A Pokemon like me can't walk around without notice very easily, but I had to attend to my Labyrinth, and the poor flowers."

"Wait...You made the Labyrinth?!" Erinn said in astonishment, unable to keep quiet any longer.

"That's a difficult question," she replied, "For the sake of keeping things simple, I will only say that I am it's caretaker when I can be." The Shaymin turned to look at Era, "However, that's not why I'm here." The Shaymin smiled and continued, "I am known by many names, but you may call me Avaria, or Ava if you'd like. I wish, if you would allow it, to stay with you a while in your Team."

By this point, Era was completely speechless. As if the very presence of a Legendary who was close enough to touch wasn't enough of a marvel in itself, now the same Legend was asking to join her Team. If she had been even slightly less prepared for a shock, she would probably have fainted right there; as it was, she had to take several deep breaths before she could respond. "You...You want to join our Team?" she asked, saying the words as though they were in a foreign language.

Avaria nodded, taking another sip of the water, "I would be here as often as I could," she said, "Of course, I'll have to head out every few weeks to attend to some things, and whenever I'm summoned elsewhere naturally, but I want to offer you what assistance I can. I'm drawn to your Team by your hard work and gratitude, and I feel that within the Guilds I could be of more help that outside of them." She looked at Era solemnly, and the rest of the Team's eyes rested on the two, "So I ask you, will you allow me to join you in your Team?"

Era swallowed, her thoughts racing almost faster than she could process them; even as she fell silent with all eyes on her she knew what she had to say, what she would say. There was no other answer she could, or would rather give. Meeting Avaria's eyes she nodded once, a firmness in her gaze as if sealing a pact. "Alright," she replied, the decision seeming to resound in the air, the sudden seriousness of the moment washing over the room, "If that is what you wish, then I have no objection. Welcome to Team MistMelody."
