Name: Maris Elizabeth Trent Nickname: None. Age: 18 19 Birthday: April 8th Sign: Aries Gemstone: Diamond Blood Type: O Favorite Food: Anything that's creative and/or unusual; Maris is a bit of a foodie snob. She especially likes Italian food, particularly risotto. Hated Food: 95% of 'instant' and frozen food, especially really shitty chicken that squeaks when you bite into it. How unnatural! She tries not to buy such things unless it's that or starve. (However, she does have a secret weakness for a particular brand of cheap microwave pizza. Shh.) School: Sovereign Heights (studying Literature) Hobbies:Crochet - Maris enjoys crochet, which she learned at summer crafts camp as a child. She particularly enjoys making clothing articles, and can be a bit of a yarn snob, spurning acrylics in favor of natural fibers. She's been known to save up meticulously for a precious ball of merino, which she then hoards for months until she finally deems a project special enough to use it. After finishing her coursework for the day, Maris can often be found in front of the TV, crocheting away on her latest project while watching that morning's taped episode of Destiny Nights. Reading & Research - Maris' chosen subject of literature is not just her schoolwork, it's also her passion. Maris loves reading and historical research, loving nothing more to unearth symbolism, connect the dots of literary analyses, and burrow into deliberately obscure topics. Especially if she gets to show off her knowledge later on! Learning gives her a thrill. Other people oohing and aahing at her knowledge does the same. Soap Operas - Maris' dirty little secret. She absolutely loves terrible daytime soaps, though she would never admit it to anyone. Even though - maybe because - the plots are completely ridiculous, she keeps watching them on a regular basis, and may even post on a few online forums for her very favorite, Destiny Nights. She also has a highly secret crush on DN's major heart-throb star, Cameron Wilford.

Senshi Alias: Sailor AdhaferaSenshi Element: Knots ("The Knot") Challenge: By the flame of Adhafera, I'll tie you up in knots! Attacks:Sailor Scout Attack: Adhafera Bind!Sailor Adhafera claps her hands together and draws out a single piece of cord between her palms (about the size of thicker-gauge yarn, a foot long at maximum). To execute the attack, she selects a single target and ties a knot in the cord. The target is momentarily disabled, their hands/arms clapping to their sides and their legs snapping together. The 'binding' effect lasts five seconds, if that; its purpose is not to immobilize but to temporarily disorient/trip the target. The binding effect is not visible, and it does no physical damage by itself - any damage would come from the target tripping and falling (if they do so) or from other attacks that take advantage of the target's momentary distraction. Super Sailor Scout Attack: Adhafera Bondage! (yes, we know, don't make fun of it to her face or she'll be cross!) Sailor Adhafera claps her hands together and draws out a cat's-cradle of cord stretched between her fingers. To execute the attack, she selects a target (or group of targets, up to 3 people in a 4 foot radius of each other) and snaps the cats'-cradle into a new, tangled and knotted formation.
The targets are bound in-place as in Adhafera Bind, except the binding knots/cords are now visible as cords of light. The binding effect lasts fifteen seconds, and may do slight damage on its own (i.e. light rope burns on exposed skin), but as above, its primary use is to trip/distract. Eternal Sailor Attack: Adhafera Binding Judgement! Sailor Adhafera claps her hands together and draws out a cat's-cradle of cord stretched between her fingers. To execute the attack, she selects an area of effect 10 feet in diameter and snaps the cat's-cradle into a new, tangled and knotted formation.
Cords of light appear in the AoE, binding up to five living targets within and yanking them off-balance. The attack pulls the targets 1.5 feet backwards, with as much force as if Adhafera herself had come up to them all and given them a good, hard shove. Because the targets are bound as in Adhafera's weaker attacks, they cannot mitigate fall damage by using their hands, arms, or legs. This attack is a quick strike - after the targets have been flash-bound and dragged, the binding ropes disappear and the targets are free to move.
Damage comes from two potential sources: 1.) Rope burns. This attack causes moderate rope burns on exposed flesh. It does not burn through clothing, so if a target is well covered they will not be injured in this way.
2.) Environmental hazards. The damage potential of this factor varies hugely based on the battlefield! For example, let's look at two different possible battlegrounds: ----> A parking lot. Targets may take friction burn damage from being pushed down over asphalt. Some targets may take impact damage: if a target is standing right in front of a car that is between themselves and the AoE's center, the target will be yanked into the car as if someone shoved them. ----> An open field. Targets take very little damage from the ground, as the turf is springy and grass does not inflict friction burns. There are no objects to impact, so all that really happens is that people fall over.

Virtues:It's All Under Control - Maris is a very organized, controlled person. She manages her life, finances, and her schedule at peak efficiency. She gets a thrill out of keeping all the plates spinning at once, and will often take on hefty tasks just to prove she can. This organization and control spreads into other areas as well - it is rare for Maris to forget anything due to her faithful daily planner, for example, and when she promises something you can be sure it will get done. Yo! I'll Solve It - Maris is a clever, creative problem-solver: if one way won't work, she won't be easily discouraged! Instead, she'll come up with an unusual (but hopefully decent!) alternate solution. She often picks up on details and resources in her surroundings that others might miss, and will keep trying with single-minded focus until she either succeeds, the situation becomes untenable, or she is prevented from continuing to work on the problem. Iron Determination - Maris is extremely determined, possessing a near-indomitable inner drive. She has very high standards for herself, and takes pride in being a dedicated, decisive worker. Maris will not permit herself to give up if there is any chance at success, and half-assing things is a foreign concept to her. This can flip on her and turn obsessive if she isn't careful, but thus far her drive for things like top marks in school, etc. have served her well. Cold, Hard Logic - Maris prides herself on being guided by logical thinking. She isn't easily influenced by emotions, whether her own or others', and she keeps a cool, level head even in stressful situations. Standard emotional or moral blackmail doesn't work well on her, and she's quite capable of putting aside personal concerns to do what needs to be done. She'll break down later - right now, there's more important things to do. Flaws:Control Freak - Maris has a strong need to be in control of everything. If given a choice, she'd rather work alone, as she trusts herself more than she trusts others. If forced to work in tandem with others, she tends to try and do all the work herself anyway (whether said others like it or not) just to ensure it will Get Done Properly. It's difficult for her to cede control to someone else, and she doesn't give trust or loyalty easily. Smarter Than You - Maris is highly arrogant about her own mental capabilities and judgement. It's true that she's clever and a good strategist, but this is where her much-vaunted logic breaks down - she can easily be blinded to flaws in her own reasoning because she thinks she's always right. If she's convinced that she's right, she can be incredibly stubborn and impossible to reason with. She does not react well to correction in this area, either, and will withdraw and get snippy if her judgement and logic are challenged. First Impressions - Maris has a pretty firm internal list of qualities that make other people stupid, foolish, and not worth her time. If you display a trait she doesn't approve of, she will write you off at the drop of a hat. This can very easily lead to her alienating people, rejecting potential allies, and shutting herself away from resources because she can't get over her own snap judgements. It also results in her second big blind spot: she'll be much more inclined to believe (or even extrapolate for herself) unproven information as long as it dovetails with her prejudices. Cold, Hard Cynicism - Maris has one hell of a cynical attitude. Her default reaction to everyone and everything is suspicion, and she will overanalyze the s**t out of things to try and prove herself correct. She point-blank refuses to take anything on faith, and tends to shuffle those who do into her 'stupid' category. By the way, did you know 'sarcastic' is another definition of cynical? Because she hits that one too, and hard.

Look at Maris' family, and you'll understand why she is the way she is. Born to a domineering father and an overwhelmed and bitter mother, Maris would be the golden child... if she could only get someone to notice how wonderful she was. Now that Maris is out of the house, she doesn't maintain much contact with her family, even though they live about half an hour from her apartment. Her contact is limited to reports on good grades and accomplishments of note - things that might earn her praise or favor. Maris does have more relations than those listed below; however, her father has successfully estranged his family from pretty much everyone else. Joy. Brandon "Bran" Anthony Trent (father): Bran is a serious workaholic and demands absolute perfection from everyone in his life. A wealthy businessman who clawed his way up from a lower-middle-class background, he surrounds himself with the trappings of the nouveau riche, often acquiring items and acquaintances solely to be handy props for his cultivated image. He has a splendid house, several excellent cars, a beautiful wife, a membership at the country club, etc. Despite all of this, he spends a great deal of time at work and on business trips to far-flung locales. Hrm. He also wanted his first and only child to be a boy. Maris is acutely aware of this fact. Chelsea Joy Bastion-Trent (mother): Born into an old-money family, Chelsea wasn't aware she was going to become a trophy wife when she married Bran Trent... but it happened just the same. Her gentle personality was utterly bulldozed by her husband's powerful ego, and she has become very meek and doormat-like after years of garden-variety emotional abuse. She strikes out at Bran in the only ways she feels she can - through very subtle tricks and minor irritations. She may or may not be cultivating an affair on the side, trying to get the emotional closeness her husband so completely denies her. Elizabeth Grace Bastion (maternal grandmother): Maris' grandmother completely detests her son-in-law - with good reason - yet has managed to find room in her heart for Maris herself. Their relationship is stilted, largely consisting of Christmas and birthday cards, but it's more of a relationship than Maris has with any other members of her extended family. Melrose (irritating family pet): A small, yappy purebred Maltese with the most annoying, shrill bark in the world. Chelsea's pet; he may or may not have been selected solely for that annoying bark, as a way of getting back at Bran.

Eternal Sailor Alunite: The first 'special' I've met that actually seemed like he had a brain. He had some interesting things to say, at any rate. I guess if he showed up again, I wouldn't cut and run... right away, at least.

Maris lives by herself in a small, aging apartment complex not too far away from Sovereign Heights; this complex is almost entirely inhabited by fellow 'Shlippies'. Her apartment is on the third floor, accessible only via staircase. The apartment only has three rooms - the front door opens into the living room/kitchen/dining space. From there, a very short hallway leads to Maris' bedroom and a tiny bathroom with a shower/tub. Still, despite the small size of the apartment and the age of its fixtures, Maris keeps her apartment scrupulously clean, with a airy, minimalist slant to the decor. If only she could do something about the dents in the floorboards and the occasional weird splatter on the wallpaper...

ItNotM! is not mine, nor is Sailor Moon. Maris/Sailor Adhafera is, however, so plz do not touch. Graphics were made by me. All other art belongs to its respective artists, all of whom should be credited above. Sailor Adhafera's first-stage character design is by LadyNozomi! Thank you to Zero Dream, for dragging me into this madness in the first place. <3
