grrr
I'm just all angry now... I should sleep but I just spent two hours debating religion with someone who was... about as thoughtful as a rock.
Basically, the entirety of her argument was 'well, God says that all other gods are false idols, so your god can't exist'. Islam has the same rule, does that mean your god doesn't exist?
Because I'm open to all religion and the idea that just because someone believes in one thing and another person believes something else, both of those things can be real and possible.... she seemed to think that my arguments meant nothing.
Because I said 'you believe this and you're welcome to. You believe it, therefore it's real.' and she said 'well, your god isn't real because my god said so'.... rrrrr. Arguing like that just irks me.
I'm not ranting about religion or wanting to get into more of those debates, just growling about the argument itself.

I hate it when people do that. I'm not religious at all and almost all the kids at my school are ( including my friends). A lot of people don't like me for it, but I just don't believe in that kind of stuff. It's like the Tooth Fairy for me. confused
I'm not looking for an argument, either, but I thought I'd share.

i dont mind debating religion as long as people are respectful towards my beliefs.
my grandmother isounds liek the person you were talking to, she says that christianity is the only religion, she doesnt even think about any other beliefs because they are all evil. she is a wonderful person, just very opinionated when it comes to religion.

Sounds like the typical close minded zealot. The kind of people that make us Christians look bad, and the kind who make Muslims all look like batshit insane radicals.
There's no arguing with those people. The most that can be done is to say "Whatever you say, cupcake," and go on about your way.
We get these kinds all the time in Supernatural, the poor turned around things. 'Cept they're all of the neopagan sort, notsomuch Abrahamic, and insist that they are true Wiccans when they know nothing about the cult at all. I know more than they do about Wicca and I'm Christian. o.o
But yah, those sorts of people get on my nerves. In Christianity, it is not our place to judge others, especially on their ultimate destination based on their set of religious beliefs or lack thereof. Respect my beliefs and I'll respect yours. For all we know, every single religion in the world is wrong.

Aye indeed. Wicca is ceremonial magic. None of this fireball and lightning bolt high-fantasy D&D-esque business. If one had to liken it to D&D, it would be under Pact magic or Truename. The stuff that takes time, dedication, and concentration to cast. Wicca is simply a fertility witchcult started in the mid-'50s by Gerald Gardner. They're not Druids, they're not ancient, and they most certainly aren't the witches other people think they are. Witches, yes, but not like that. 3nodding

I had a good friend when I was like..15ish that was huge into "Wiccan". Once we were in the car and she goes quite in the back seat for about a minute then kinda jerks..I ask if she's okay and her response? "Yeah, I was having an out of body experience" and without missing a beat my then boyfriend, now husband, goes "Oh I have those alllll the time" and cracked up. I felt kinda bad. D: Anyways, she was like that all of the time and it grated on peoples nerves...She was such a downer and always depressive and zoning out... From what I know thats not true Wiccan. xD

LOL, don't take this personally guys, but you don't see the irony in complaining about people who don't respect others beliefs and judge others and then turning around and claiming '-----' is not a GOOD Wiccan because she/he believes 'ABC' instead of 'XYZ' ? sweatdrop
