Um...um...I'm still working a few little things out but this is what I have so far. =^_^=

Thuk Child Concept:

Magethread girl: she looks partly like the creatures she’s ‘spun’ from.

Name: Name: Museaea (Muse – ay – ah) Fortune

Third eye placement: On her back directly between her shoulder blades, side-on and always closed. Not sure what colour it is yet because I am curious to know what different colours mean first. whee

Type: Sleeper, yay!

Origin: She’s part of an experiment which was trying to combine magic and science to create children for unknown purposes, using components such as magethread as the ingredients, which combined to form her eventual physical make-up.

EDIT: Museaea was supposed to be a commission for a group of some powerful wizards who took over by force and now own the castle in the city of Irakhan. They have gathered a rather strong following of other wizards as of late. Between them, these wizards run the city and also run quite a large magical academy which they recently set up. They paid a lot of money for this 'project' they requested and expect high quality results of their ordered experiment.

The magethread girl was meant to be a source of thread for them all to use however they wished and would provide the key for them to expand their territory, allowing them to conquer the magical beasts in the wilds surrounding the area then keep them as pets, control them, sell or profit from this in various ways. She would have made them all very rich and been rather useful. Yet just as she was about to be born into her new life, she was taken away.

The wizards are not happy at all. And the Noihsucnip are in danger without their protector.

Appearance: She’s a rather tall girl with long, flowing hair that looks like magethread ribbons of different colours, having the proper magical symbols on the ribbons.

She possesses a pair of green and pink, octagonal, faceted, compound eyes on her upper forehead and a pair of light green, slotted ‘other eyes’ under those, which are the ones people would primarily look at, as it’s not apparent the compound eyes are eyes unless you know it, though she can ‘blink’ them in a way, the films shifting over them. She has a sugar pink diamond shaped jewel high up above the compound eyes in the centre of her forehead. Museaea has light, creamy skin with a slight greenish tinge to it and long, sharp looking, very thin, dark purple ears either side of her head (think very thin eucalyptus leaves), one pair longer than the other and higher up, placed a little back from the lower pair, which is shorter and nearer her ‘other eyes’. She has retractable, pin like, fine silver claws and the tail of the Noihsucnip creatures, which is long with a segmented appearance, has a creamy underside and forest green top, has a storage bauble near the end and then the pincers with podules curving neatly into the five centre pincers. In her mouth are two tiny pointed silver fangs. She wears a meek smile and looks calm most of the time. Her palms have sticky pads on them.

Clothing: She likes light, flowing and silky things that are easy to wear, such as dresses and robes made from cotton or silk and incorporates ribbons into just about everything she wears, whether it be as a sash, scarf, wristband, leg warmers or simply decorative. She also has a fetish for shiny items and jewellery.

Hobbies: sewing, animals, collecting shiny things, climbing trees and all other climbable objects

Other: She’s an excellent climber, loves the outdoors and nature and is somewhat quiet natured. She has trouble communicating when growing up because she naturally uses the jewel on her forehead to ‘talk’ like the creatures but she will learn to get past this. If there are any people or creatures that are telepathic/empathic and such, she can converse with them easily enough. She can also converse with Noihsucnip effortlessly. When she opens her mouth to talk, no sound comes out, the jewel on her head simply glows. She likes comfy blankets and cushions and makes her bed into a carefully arranged ‘nest’ using them.

Bio: She’s a quiet sort who will follow you around and just seemingly pop out of nowhere and want to join in. She wants to talk and to have fun with other kids but somehow she always manages to cause some kind of trouble, be it with her weird body that she’s still trying to figure out and get used to, (she’s a wee bit clumsy trying to control that tail and those ears and claws and eyes…it can all be so overwhelming for a new spirit to get used to!) or her odd mannerisms and little things she likes to do. She’s obsessed with shiny things and reason flies out the window when she sees something she just HAS to have! She’ll even tackle people for them. It’s for her ‘nest’ which is her room back home. She has no idea why she does it but it’s a really strong instinct. Trying to talk to people with her telepathic/empathic abilities is also not so successful. She ends up opening her mouth, gaping like a fish, making funny squeaks and squawks and waving her arms around like mad trying to gesture in a crazy on the spot game of charades. She doesn't let this stop her making friends though.

If she’s stolen something you want back, play her some music. It has an odd effect on her like it confuses her senses and she’ll sit and sway to the music while the world goes on around her with nary a blink at her things being stolen back…until she realises they are missing, then it’s wailing and unhappiness.

Then again, she has a super sweet tooth so you can always bribe her with sweets or even swap one shiny for another, say a piece of tin foil or a sewing needle for your necklace back. As long as it’s shiny, it’s hers!

Since these guys have dreams/flashes of insight of the destiny they could have had (when they’re approaching the gap between their current growth stage and the next) (and a lot of them have mixed feelings over these dreams/flashes of insight) hers would be of a woman treated like royalty and living amongst the group of Noihsucnip happily, surrounded by a huge, friendly family who think of her as their queen and whom she loves and protects from hunting mages, powerful magical creatures who like eating them and collectors of weird beasts. She often will have dreams/visions/feelings that she ought to be elsewhere doing certain things. These may be confused as ‘past life’ things.

Guardians:

Her guardians are a human couple who can’t have any children of their own. Mother works in a patchwork shop, father works as a primary school teacher. Both are grateful for their...nice, if exceedingly strange, daughter.

Mother: Merelith (Merry) Fortune
Age: 27
Occupation: Retail saleswoman at patchwork shop, sometimes teaches sewing classes on the side
Appearance: A rather tall lady with long, straight, ashy blonde hair, peachy skin and an oval face with a slightly pointed chin and high cheekbones. She wears gold, oval rimmed glasses which frame her light blue eyes and prefers casual, simple clothing such as skirts and cotton button up shirts or simple light dresses, t-shirts and three quarter pants. She likes light colours and floral prints. She also enjoys making her own aprons and most other articles of clothing. Her build is slightly plump and she is rather well endowed (motherly). She likes to wear a little lipstick and eye pencils as well as her favourite pair of silver dove earrings and matching necklace.

Quick bio: A warm, patient woman who has a kind and motherly nature. She is most often cheerful and loves her job to the extent she enjoys bringing home projects with her to work on in her sewing room. She wants a child so much that she has tried multiple methods and even has a room set aside for the day when their wish might come true. She masks her sadness over slowly growing older and losing hope (she wants to be a young mother with lots of energy) by pouring herself into her work, looking after her home and husband and adopting things to shower with love. All of her potted plants have names as do the multiple fish in her aquarium.

Father: Solomon (Sol) Fortune
Age: 28
Occupation: Primary school teacher

Appearance: Short, messy chestnut hair and dark, matching eyes with a long nose and somewhat square chin. Also wears glasses, which he finds most amusing as he is long sighted and his wife is short sighted and between the two of them, they joke about it. His glasses are black and rectangular framed. Slightly tan skin tone and light stubble round his lower jaw. He’s about a head taller than his wife. His preferred clothes are light cotton shirts and striped ties with black or dark blue slacks when he’s teaching and t-shirts with amusing prints or logos or just plain tees and the like with an unbuttoned shirt over the top, paired with jeans or shorts when he’s at home in free time. He has long, deft fingers and is good with his hands, at fixing things and at building some simple D.I.Y. projects. He likes to keep himself fit and make sure he has enough energy to deal with his schoolkids so he goes jogging every day and has a very slight muscle tone.

Quick bio: Loves his wife (of course!) and their pets and despite their troubles as a couple, he considers her to be his princess and best friend. Solomon is a hard working man who enjoys cooking, the pursuit of knowledge, D.I.Y. projects, visiting the library to devour books and playing console games when he isn’t at school being a teacher. He loves his students and enjoys guiding them on the paths which will help them to reach their full potential. He is polite and thoughtful and though he likes discipline and manners, he is very kind. Occasionally, he loses his temper but Sol has always been the kind who is quick to forgive. As a teacher, he tries to be understanding of every student in his class and makes sure to help those he notices lagging behind or having difficulty.

Extra Notes:

Magethread:

Is a type of special textile which is made by (or comes from) some strange creatures known as Noihsucnip who live in hard to reach places (high on forested mountainsides, in deep forests and on tropical islands far out to sea). It can be used once it is woven from its most basic form into silken ribbons. These can be used in spells, can be used to trail through worlds and portals to prevent mages from getting lost – usually as a single strand of thread to be less noticeable, can be imbued, can be used as the binding on sword hilts and other weapons, raw thread can be woven and treated in certain ways to become bandages, as well as be woven into garments or other materials to imbue them with magical, elemental or other properties) Garments such as robes or other large articles made of pure magethread would be ridiculously expensive and you may as well walk around with a sign on your forehead, otherwise a very good bodyguard or way of protecting yourself.

However, magethread is primarily used for, once tied around or onto them, bringing any powerful magical beast or creature to a calmed state and suppressing their powers, thereby bringing them under control of the mage who captured them until either the magethread ribbon is cut, broken or removed.

As the creatures it comes from are quite rare, so is the magethread and because demand is high amongst magical society, it’s also very expensive unless you go out and obtain it yourself which is usually dangerous and difficult. Magethread is delicate, beautiful and starts out in liquid form. From that, strands are carefully picked out with the tip of a fine thin rod and drawn onto spools as they ‘set’. It’s very much like making fairy floss. Unfortunately, the liquid thread is most vulnerable at this stage and if not stored at the correct temperature, humidity and light conditions will quickly go bad and become a weak, watery, useless sludge.

Magethread can only be cut by mages or other magical artists or beings. Most mages use a secret word to ‘lock’ the thread for some protection against cutting. The word has to be said to ‘unlock’ it again before the thread can be cut. Naturally, this protects from some of the more strong willed creatures and beasts getting free and turning upon their new masters. While attached to a creature it channels all/most of their magical energies into itself, not draining them per se but ‘storing’ them in a way. This effect is negated the moment the creature is freed.

Magethread itself is not magical; it’s just so highly receptive to having magic woven into it and binding with it that it’s one of the best materials for doing so. The thread comes in different colours. Striking, soft and vibrant, each colour has slightly different properties.

Properly woven magethread ribbon will have the correct magical symbols on it to imbue strongly with the required properties. Poorly made ribbon is known to lose potency and the ability to control beasts over a period of time and can eventually reach the point where its so weakened it can snap at an unexpected time. Telltale signs are that the ribbon’s symbols will start to disappear, it will begin fraying and its colour and gloss will fade. The same for garments, in which ripping, stretching and tearing can also occur.

Some threads are glittery, some are good for elemental garments or bindings and some can be charmed to be invisible. Magethread is intricately woven and requires a skilled mage to create the best, even with high quality materials. Liquid magethread is faintly tinted of the eventual colour it will be, yet this is difficult to tell since it is almost clear. Thread is sometimes used as plaited or woven tassels or charm holders on staffs, bags, on hair or other belongings. It can also be lightly woven as a spider web into nets, though these are only temporary things when originally capturing a beast or creature.

Pincushion Creatures: Noihsucnip.

The creatures who make the liquid thread use it to build their web-nests high in trees and across rocky areas etc, They guard this closely and would die without their nests or struggle to survive so the nests are left intact and not raided. The healthier a creature is, the higher the quality of the liquid it makes and the thread it spins. They spin the coloured threads into beautiful web-nests and cocoons – when they’re ready to evolve. Only the juvenile ones make thread. Once they have their wings, they are adults and no longer rely on web-nests and cocoons to survive.

The Noihsucnip have segmented bodies with shiny spines all over them like a pincushion and pale, soft bellies with darker upper halves. They are excellent climbers, being lithe and flexible and have strong limbs which are almost insect-like which have sticky pads on the undersides of the paws. The paws have long, thin, lizard like fingers which are deft at climbing and weaving thread and have pin like, metallic, retractable claws on each finger. The creatures have four eyes. Two sets comprised of one pair of faceted compound eyes in an octagonal shape on the top of the head and a pair of more thin, almond shaped eyes near the lower muzzle with slits in the centres. They have slits for the nose, (similar to a rabbit nose) and a spot between the two lower eyes. They have two sets of long, thin ears, one lower down, further forward and shorter than the higher up, longer pair which is slightly further back on the very top sides of the head. (Think thin eucalyptus leaves which are quite long) On their foreheads, higher up from the compound eyes, is a large diamond shaped jewel or gem, which lights up when they communicate telepathically with others of their kind. The mouths are made up of multiple pincers and mandibles and have a long tongue with frondy bits on the end and a few teeth concealed within them, shaped for eating fruit, flowers and plants. They have long agile tails with a ‘liquid bauble’ near the end, which is where liquid is made and stored (it looks like a stripy lantern or Christmas bauble), then further down two sets of outer pincer like devices with ‘podules’ on them which hold separated liquids, and these outer pincers curve in neatly and precisely to an inner pair which helps draw the liquid thread and move it out as it becomes string then manipulate it when making web-nests. They have two metallic shiny fangs inside their mouths as well, which are mainly for hooking into tougher fruits that are pulled off of trees to get the juice. Adults have a set of spiny wings with longer metallic spines and butterfly like, delicate wings fanning in between these. Each set of wings has its own unique pattern and colours.

Noihsucnip enjoy decorating their nests with shiny things, such as hat pins, pins and needles. They like to make thick, cushiony spots all over their web-nests to rest or curl up and sleep on. They are sensitive creatures who prefer mild cool or tropical climates. They weave their nests diligently, patiently, carefully and prettily, making them intricate. They keep to a group and the adults sometimes fly out to hunt for food. They are patient and prefer not to fight, having a fine defence from their spines. Fights are mostly quick and mostly for show. They’re almost impossible to breed in captivity as they need their habitat and lifestyle to survive and flourish. They’re good at mending broken thread and web-nests, as well as their own wings if the butterfly like parts gets damaged. They scratch trees with their claws to mark territories and send messages to others. They are talented, intelligent, cute and friendly, except if you try to damage their nests or steal their young. Web nests are also decorative. The creatures smell nice; a rainy, forest like, almost magical scent. They are protective of their nests and the group which is all considered as a big family. Small ones have no wings until after they make a cocoon and evolve. The creatures don’t like being poked, prodded and touched in annoying manners or being disturbed, usually by ignorant people or researchers. They make little to no sound, except for the soft, rapid sounds of their wings, snipping of threads with their mouthparts and quiet sounds of body movements as they work and play. The jewel on their foreheads glows when communicating with others. They lay eggs in soft spots of the nest and the eggs look like giant pearls. They have detailed, complex mouth and tail designs to create and spin web. The web-nests are made in much the same way spiders do, gluing strands into place. The web-nests are not sticky, however. If something gets caught in it, the creatures gently remove it. The creatures clean themselves like a cat or praying mantis, using their tongue and mandibles to lick their paw then draw it over their faces and scrub their faces in little circles. They are good for the environment, protecting other creatures in their domain and have even been known to help them by bringing food, fighting off enemies or adopting young ones to take care of. They eat leaves, certain fruits and flowers, helping spread seeds around. Noihsucnip are coloured thus: their bellies are normally a light creamy or white colour; their upper halves are forest green hues which vary through a range of greens as each Noihsucnip is a slightly different set of basic colours than the others. The little ears are dark purple and the claws, spine-pins and fangs are always metallic, shiny and silver. Sticky pads are lime/light greens. The gem, podules on their tail pincers, spot between their eyes, butterfly bits of wings, both sets of eyes and the bauble can all be pretty and different colours and it varies from Noihsucnip to Noihsucnip.

And some art so you can get an idea what they look like:
