Is there some difference between animals and reptiles? Are reptiles not animals themselves?

Yes, I wonder the same thing. They are all in the Animal kingdom, but not in the same Phylum, making them separate..(?) I don't know the exact reason. I'm not strong in any type of science.

Reptiles are as much of an animal as a bird or a fish. Their a different TYPE of animal, like a bird is different from a fish, but they're an animal all the same. Just like the human race.

OH I am so glad I am not the only one who is annoyed by that. I just posted it as a correction in the Correction thread in the home forum!!! See? Kipluck Okay, here goes my scientific pickiness, particularly when it comes to critters. "Animals & Reptiles" Reptiles ARE animals. They are not MAMMALS, but both mammals and reptiles are animals. Need proof? Check out a taxonomy chart! For instance, my Leopard Gecko, Jack! Quote: Scientific classification Kingdom: AnimaliaPhylum: Chordata Class: ReptiliaOrder: Squamata Suborder: Lacertilia Family: Gekkonidae Subfamily: Eublepharinae Genus: Eublepharis Species: 'macularius

I'm not strong in any type of science. Well, reptiles are in the same phylum as any animal with a spinal chord. They're a different class than other animals. Also in their own class are birds, fish, mammals and such.

I put it as a correction in the correction thread but they deleted it with OUT fixing it. Seriously, I said it nicely and would not have put it there if they hadn't ASKED for corrections. It's not like I can't abide incorrectness, but why ask if they don't want to change things? sweatdrop
