Quellar Arab l'valDaughters of the Silken Weaver Fifth {5th} House of Ulorbbath There is one motto, one saying that remain with us, in us, and bound to us. The weak are born to be devoured by the spiders.Beneath the layers of rocks, among the winding maze of stalagmites, hangs an Order bound in black and draped in daggers.
Selective of those who walk among them. They are few in numbers, out numbered even by their own schemes. Vibrant in designs and crafts, they draw you further in.
Should you hesitate, join the weak.
And be devoured.
They are the Daughters of the Silken Weaver.

The Tale of our Founding
Let us go back. Let us open our books and tell the our story.
Far from here, lays a city of broken towers, rat filled Houses, and streets filled with dried blood. Here our story began, here our great mothers set up they're thrones and graves. Our great mothers, were built as we are, upon the bones of those before. Their names is unknown to us, but they held up a small house. History has it that they were beloved, blessed by the Goddess. Our knowledge has that is was a trap.
Our Goddess is not blinded by falsehoods and fakers. She knew they did not truly have the right be called a house. For all they're scheming they were weak and undeserving, yet they raised in power. They gained strength and number, only to have it all taken. The Goddess had given them a second house position, great and so close to the top. Proud and foolish they forgot to give thanks and that was all the goddess need. Soon the houses fell upon them and her might and sway stole all their power except for one.
When the battle had ended, the weak lay dead. The Youngest of the heir daughter appeared. Clever and cunning, she changed her names and her intentions. Lillam'l'auro, gathered those whom the Goddess had told her too. Solitary and unknown, our ancestors built what they thought was perfect, but the Goddess knew otherwise. No sooner had they created our foundation, then the weak had come in. They like those of past, grew proud and foolish. The Elders and the Ilharess cowered like weakling in their high chairs of power, let those below fight among themselves for scrapes. Most were blind to the needs of the Goddess, but one. The 9th daughter of Lillam'l'auro saw the need. She planned and plotted, planting the seeds for our creation. She waited, watched, and worked. A true web weaver in all she did. No one had the full picture, but her. She knew all and still does, a true gift of the Great Silken Weaver.
Then she acted, tying the baiting and waiting for the maggots to come. The House began to crumble, as those at the top clamored for more, the young fought for the start, but the wise and chosen waited. They watched as the House fell to piece the rival came calling. Then the work began, a sacrifice that can not be repeated. All the maggots were killed, their blood laid out upon an alter prepared by our great creator. With the sacrifice made, the 9th daughter decided the rest of the city would smell wonderful if it was also burning. Wise in her decision, she had our caravan ready and place planned. We set forth, on what is now called the Great Weavers Path. However that is a different story. ~Story Told by Sinonia Venorik Arab l'val (age 300) An Excerpt from the guide A Proper Daughter to the Great Silken Weaver Written by Diira Xuruth Arab l'val, 1st daughter of Felynrea Xuruth Arab l'val As a blessed daughter of our great family and Goddess, it is your duty as a starting daughter to find and bring the strongest to our humble House. Those who are brought will be tested and examined to see if they are worthy of our intentions. Remember, from section 5, that impression of your intentions are best left hidden.
To begin the tour, you should greet the fellow female in front of our house at the main gate. A map towards the end of section 8, should help you find your way there from anywhere in the house. Once there, have your guest leave behind any male who might be accompany them. They are not worthy of stepping through our front gates and will be lead around to an appropriate gate for the unworthy. In section 2, we covered those males that are considered worthy, if you have forgotten simply go back.
In the back will be a quick covered the reasons for our unassuming front gates, behind those rows of stalactites, that surround our gates, is House garden. Our wonderfully deadly maze, in the back of the booklet there will be a good size map of ground. Remember that the maze changes daily, so there is no way to tell if the false stalagmite that was there yesterday will be there today. However, your brother guard or lizard mount you use to help bring you guest forward will know the proper route...hopefully.
Once at the front doors, wait for the two meat shields to open the doors. If you like, you can explain that the front door design is an elaborate design of the main family's emblem. All family emblems carry the markings our of beloved Goddess's favorite animal. Past those door, will be the main hall, tell them that the exterior of the house isn't an illusion, but that we build with in the caverns walls. Do not, I repeat, do not show them where all the doors on that floor lead. One or two might be traps, so unless you want to hang your guest's bloody body from the caverns ceiling please don't show them any of the rooms or stairwells leading off the great hall or any of the ones beyond that unless they are the 7th, 8th or 9th floors.
If you guest ask why, simply explain that the members of the house have build a maze of staircases, rooms, branching hallways, and tunnels and some of them are booby trapped. Others are harmless and will lead you to the different areas controlled by the different families of the Arab l'val House, but don't tell them that. Remember that in section 1 we covered where the family floors are, so you might want to point them out along with all the art work that we have decorated our halls and floors with.
When you've reached the 9th floor, tell them that 9 is considered a wonderful number in our house, therefore thing will often come in sets of nine. Thus, there are 9 floors on the great stairway of the house. The 9 holding the throne room and the door to the temple walkway, then you may open the door, so long as there isn't fresh blood on it or you can hear screams of the Ilharess's latest playmate. If so, then turn your guest towards the walkway.
Once you enter the throne room, remember it not mention the three Xuruth family doorways. Only those who are accepted can have knowledge of the doorway. Otherwise, inform them that the entrance to the Xuruth portion of the house is on a walkway that branches off from the temple walkway. Draw the guest attention to the large airy feel of the room, the glow of the purple Faerie Fire from behind the misty veils on the sides of the rooms, as well as the slightly circular dais in the center, where the heads of each family sit or when people are formal presented or judged before the two chair on the much higher dais and the balcony throne of our great leader, mother and Ilharess.
From there, you can take to the final and most important section of the house. Our temple. Take them carefully along the Great Spider's Way, unless you want to toss them over the side into the Wisp Lichen. Though that would negate the your purpose. Once you get the temple gate, you should be greeted by two golem, when the temple is not in use. When it is, there will be screaming and there will be two Advanced Guard females there.
Either set of guards will open the doors for you and your guest, while the set of the other side of the door will greet you with a bow. The temple is our pride, a three level wonder dedicated to the glorious Silken Weaver. The Faerie Fire braziers, that stand along the stairways and on the balcony. The large sacrifice alter, the wonderfully sculpted statue of our goddess and her spider. One special days, there will be cloth drench in the blood of the unworthy and disgusting laid upon the statue, while the large fire before it burns they're bodies. A wonderful scent and a great time to bring over guest.
If you want you can describe the sitting arrangements, how all the daughter sit in the middle section, while the Matron and the family leaders sit at the highest level, with all the unworthy underneath. Along with how the Xuruth family has private walkways to and from the Temple.
Once you're done, you can escort them to the main feasting hall or lounge on the 8th floor. Remember that this guest, while useful must never suspect your purpose for them. If it so happens that they might start to wonder why you brought, simply take them to 7th floor and get them a drink in the Venorik family lounge or take them to the library and leave them there. The Belgareth family will welcome a new tester.
In the next part of our section, will go over the different families and they're job in sustaining the House.

The House of Arab l’val:General Information:The Qu’ellar of Arab l’val is different from most other Qu’ellars. The Matron decided to placed her “sisters” as leaders for each “family” of the clan. These “families” would then handle one section of the Qu’ellar needs. Many believe that the Matron did this, in an attempt to keep her power hungry "sisters" busy or complacent while under her rule. Though others argue that is really because she created a system that was so complex that each "family" would be stuck in a web of dependency. Its many folds making it hard for outsiders to find a weak point, while forcing those inside to become dependent on the Qu’ellar. The only family that can break away without too much damage is the Ruling family.
Each of the family’s operates rather like a smaller house; the leaders will usually be a cousin or distant member of the Xuruth family giving them, noble status. From there, each leader chooses those who will be handed control from either their own bloodline or those adopted into their family. Those from the bloodline are given three names, they’re first name is the one given by birth. The second depend on birth can either be the family name or the Qu’ellar’s names. If they are nobles (aka from the bloodline), they add on the Qu’ellar name at the end acting as a third name. Those adopted or brought into the family who don't perform a great service for the family usually aren’t given the family names, though in rare occasions it can happen. Those that aren't accepted into a family, through adoption or being added as a helper of the "family", upon joining are often forced to be one of the many "servants" of the Qu'ellar. These "servants" are usually at the beck and call of the Xuruth and Skikudus family, though other families might call on them as well. A "servant" must show skill and loyalty before a family can even consider adopting them. Most "servants" are sent to monitor the farmlands, which the clans has far from the fortress in an undisclosed location. There they watch over the farmlands, oversee the slaves work, and guard and carry the goods back to the Fortress.
Those adopted often spark outrage from lower nobles. Though most noble born are treated better. Adopted daughters often kill rival sisters in hopes that the leaders will grant them the family name. Just as noble daughters of one family kill another in order to gain a different higher family name. However gaining the second name depends on the mood of higher ups. The leaders of the family must believe that the killer is worthy of gaining the second name. If she doesn’t then the killer is simply given the dead daughters position or she is killed. If she is worthy then she is added to the ranks of the nobles.
Each family is run by a female, no male is allowed to hold a position higher than a female. Unless the female has done something that in the eyes of the entire Qu’ellar or simply one family that justifies a position lower than a male. If this occurs the clan gives the female a choose, they can either work to regain they're position (unlikely) or kill themselves publicly in a manner of they're choose. It is rumored the blood of those females who choose to die are used as dyes for the wall hangings.
These events play out within the corridors and tunnels of the House; turning high ranking daughters into bottom feeders. While other raise or fall depending on the whims of those higher in rank. Despite all the constant upheavals and dangers, noble daughters are instructed in all the fields of the House. If the daughter is alive at the end then she is given a place higher up in the family or is given a chance to display her skills. This display usually means killing off one of her sisters.

Xuruth ╚Core╝ Family

The Xuruth or Ruling family manages, checks, and controls the outside interactions of the House. They are also Priestesses of the clan. They’re family holds all the secrets of the old ways, along with all the teachers of the Priestess-hood. They control the sales, the income, and materials of the clan. They are then head family. Males in this family are not completely thrown away. The adopted males and Matron's sons are trained to act as masked guards to the Matron’s daughters. This training is overseen by the Caretakers, a selection of the Matron's daughters or adopted members, who have shown great skill while training under the Skikudus and Belgareth Families. These guards are then paired with another daughter, priestess, or even caretaker acting as they’re guards against the schemes and attempts of the other families. Sometimes they are loyal, other times they’re not. If a daughter is killed by one, she is considered a failure, and the son isn’t "harmed" for killing her. The son is merely tortured for nine months and then turned over to the Skikudus family to become a Meat Shield. If he fails to kill her, then he is sacrificed in the Temple as being disrespectful to females.

 Skikudus ][Steel][ Family
The Skikudus family was given control of the army and the general guards. This section of the house is divided into ranks, with movement only happening it is believed that you have shown yourself worthy or if you come from the right blood line. Because of this is it slightly large then other families, though it is dependent upon the goods and tools available in other families. They train the house members, guards, and archers. Since the house isn't known for their strongly built members, the family device a method of training that would emphasize speed and agility, rather than brute strength.

Qwe }{Needle}{ Family
The Qwe is the family that handles most of the clan’s poison, medicines, and clothing. The second smallest family in the clan, they are strict and very selective of who is adopted or even allowed into they’re section of the Fortress. They are insidious weavers, who train from birth to create amazing and complicated clothes, which the clan either sells or uses. These clothes vary and depending on purpose can be made of different material or are dipped in certain mixtures. Most wear hooded robes, since they believe that since the Goddess is an unseen force of chaos that they must do the same. This is an old way of thinking that even some people outside the family still hold. Spindles are those who come from outside families to train under them.

Belgareth )(Maze)( Family
The Belgareth is a family that is considered even the clan to be slightly unstable. They are the smallest of the all the families and even seem proud of that. They oversee most of the magical studies and hold some of the hidden history of the clan. They’re wing of the fortress strangely enough happens to be the second busiest, due to the need for magical understand. They’re area also holds direct routes to the libraries. There are other ways to them, which are used more often since the halls and stairways of the Belgareth part of the fortress is rather dangerous. While professors handle different subjects that the family focuses on, such as the Professor of Magical Execution oversees and manages all those who with preform magic for the rest of the Qu'ellar and during war times, Teachers are those who teach and keep the history of the clan, along with magical studies. Pupils are usually those who have achieve a certain amount of understand and are used by other parts of the clan for magical needs. Venorik ~Silent~ Family
The Venorik Family handles all under cover aspects of the clan. As such not much is known about the family. Rumors and murmurs say that the family doesn’t exist, while others say that they are simply hidden among families get killing, spying, and terrorizing others at the whim of the Xuruth Family. Considered the shadow of the Xuruth Family, the hid in plan site and are often hired by the nobles of the clans to do away with ambitious members or scheming sisters. The Shadows, from what most understand, oversee and dictate the orders of the leader to everyone else. Each of them lead a certain section of the family. Amazingly enough, sons in this part of the clan are not thrown out at all. They even hold the family name, which no other house does. This is because given males place in the house, they can obtain information easier then females, since no one will truly note they're presence.

A deep gnome runs up to the front entrance of Qu'ellar Arab l'val. Across his chest was the branding of Qu'ellar Tor'afin. Exhausted, the gnome hands a letter to one of the guards. The letter reads:

The message make a quick passage through the house, from the hands of the meat shield, to those of a dark armored female of an advanced guards, and finally to those of a Xuruth newly adopted daughter. "Great Matron, the message alarms are going off. I have it here waiting for you, great matron." Shrinidia glanced over her shoulder to see a black robed female. Her face was hidden under the hood, but her unease at how she had found her Matron was like a smell that layered over the stench of blood and filth.
"From whom?," she asked gesturing from her twin guards to come over and help her clean and dress.
"From the Tor'afin, great matron," Shrindria jerked into her wrap, she snatched the message. A quick glance around she, she signaled for her scribe. Quickly she dictated a message, when she finished the scribe hand the robbed form the message while Shrindia said, "Call for an advanced guard to escort the thing back."
The female nodded taking the message before running off. Stepping out of her torture room, Shrindia smiled before turning to one of her son guards. "I have an order I want you send around..."

"Well, well, well, look at who has just arrived. I thought that the Matron would be sending you off on another special assignment," murmured xae'Eclavnolu Belgareth Arab l'val pointing down into the common room below. Zarinil turned her attention away from her scroll to peer down as well noticing that one of her older sister had just stepped in. This wasn't odd, seeing as their common and study areas lead to they're private rooms. What was odd was the response to her appearance.
"So Inniss, is it true. You were ordered to guard trash back to it den? Did you sleep with it, too?" Driz's voice caused of laughter from the other daughters to break out from below. Zarinil leaned over rail, to witness the slaughter as she muttered back to her friend, "I ponder whose trash she had the privilege of leading?"
xae'Eclavnolu muttered over the snickers and yelling, "Well, I heard that it was some very important dirt...From Tor'afin. Of course, can't be certain of that. Words are words, but some words hold barbs and others hold truths."
Zarinil looked over at her just as Inniss shouted, "I'll have you know, Brizeyl'thrae, that I was sent to inspect. That is right. Our crafty matron is wise such ways. As she is with others...Now then, I'll be off.
With that Inniss walked up towards the floor where Zarinil and xae'Eclavnolu sat, as a murmured filled silence settled below. The two gave each other a quick glance before tailing after Inniss down the hall. Zarinil could hear the soft patter of two brother guards behind them, but felt no danger. She reminded herself to punish Xunder later for his lack of silence; nearing the retreating form of her sister she said, "Oh wise sister Inniss, would you care to partake information. I have heard that you have inspect a future ally upon request of our Grand mother, servant of the Great Weaver."
The older drowess turned to look down at her before saying, "There is no need for formal speeches, sister Zarinil. Though you have made me curious as to the why of question. What ally?"
So it is true...how interesting, she thought as she turned her gaze down as she spoke again, "Oh steel covered sister Inniss, forgive my foolish words. They were made upon foolish whispers I and daughter of Belgareth, xae'Eclavnolu, have heard through the halls."
For a moment there was silence, then Inniss said, "I would go inquire with our oldest sister upon these rumors you have heard. That and..."
Zarinil felt a snapping sound near her ear, she could hear a strangled giggle from xae'Eclavnolu as the snake whip head grazed the top of her pointed ear. She gave a slight whimper as her finger clenched in they're position in front of her. "Take care sister. I would hate to see such a beauty, granted by the Great Weaver, to be destroyed because you couldn't speak informally upon request. Good day."
Zarinil stood still for a moment as her older sister and the brother guard walked further down the hall and finally through the door at the end. Straightening she glared at xae'Eclavnolu before she calmed herself and turned back towards the common room. "So to your sister?"
"No," Zarinil said as she pulled her Qwe like robe from her Xunder arm. "We're going to my mother...I need to beg her to let me sit in or better go visit our new friends."
