White shoulders trundled through the forest, away from the hubub of home. Home. Zuki had to stop herself from snorting at the word--whatever she had been picturing as home, this certainly wasn't it.
Her father was dead. Kazuki was dead, before she'd even really gotten to know him. And then there was Aysu, her only apparently living sister--something that disturbed her and made her want to burst into tears all day every day--who seemed to hate her, for reasons she could only begin to guess at. Then there was Kavi, who...well, she didn't know about Kavi as she'd never met the fox.
And then...Daddy. She loved him, so much, but there just seemed to be so much going on...she wasn't sure what he wanted her to be; crutch or daughter? Daughter or link to his other children? Link to his other children or the key to bringing himself out of his depression.
Azuki's head was spinning. This wasn't the home she'd been searching for since she could remember. She didn't even know if that could home could even exist.
With a tired half-whimper, the young vixen flopped down against the hard, somehow comforting, side of a tree and curled up there, staring resolutely at her paws. There had to be a way to fix this so everyone was happy, didn't there?
...Even if there was, what were the odds she could do it alone?
((What's that they say? Truth in art or something? xp -points to the last two lines- xp))

Aysu sighed as she raked her claws through the dirst, creating some sort of abstract pattern. It didn't much matter what it was, it just kept the time occupied. There was nothing to do right now anyway; Daddy was being his usual angsty self, the others were remaking their lives..Aysy sighed and looked down, where Kavi was asleep with his head on her back.
And then there was them. Kavi had stuck to the borders of Lunarie ever since the Moon Fox had come and announced their father's death. Because how could that ever be okay? And Daddy had had his own problems to deal with, and either by actual shunning on his part, or by misinterpretation on both sides, Aysu and Kavi had both felt like they shouldn't be around. She'd tried to stay with Daddy, but she couldn't handle his hurt while trying to work through hers alone. So, inevitably, she'd left to try and fix herself with her brother.
Except he barely even talked anymore. He barely did anything anymore. He still hunted regularly, and went on walks to get some physical activity, but that was it. And still whenever she was with Daddy, it was like he didn't notice that she was trying to tell him she needed him. Instead he always just let her go like it didn't matter.
Just as she was about to completely decimate the stupid picture, Aysu heard a thump from nearby. Frowning at who it could possibly be, she carefully wormed her way out from under her brother and went to find who could be this close to them.
It was Azuki. Aysu hesitated for a full minute before rolling her eyes at herself. Daddy clinging to Azuki like she was the only kid he had wasn't her sister's fault. And she was obviously upset...and she was her sister, dammit. It was her job to be there for her. Aysu padded over to her.
"Hey, Zuki," she greeted quietly, laying next to her.((I'll add Kavi in a post or two~))

Azuki had just been about to say 'screw it' and go to sleep, who cared about being nocturnal or diurnal anyway? It seemed like she was up all day and and all night anyway.
Her ears twitched when she heard paws on the ground, but only when she recognized the voice saying her name did she actually turn her head to look at who it was. Aysu? Blinking once in surprise, Zuki hesitated before offering a hesitant smile.
Well. She was speaking to her, right? That had to be a good sign, right? And she had even spoken first, which Zuki didn't think she'd done before. Cautiously optimistic (hope seemed dangerous these days), Zuki tilted her head at her sister.
"What's up?" she asked, halfway wondering if she was about to be Talked To for hanging around her--their--remaining Daddy so much. Honestly, Zuki wouldn't be surprised if Aysu did want to talk about that; if Zuki was her, she'd be annoyed too. She'd probably tell this vixen that wandered into her life to bugger off her family too.
So, still cautiously optimistic but expecting the worst, Azuki waited for an answer.

Aysu shrugged and set her head on her paws. "Kavi's asleep and I heard something moving, so I came to see who it was. And you seemed upset, so I figured you could use some company." Despite the fact that she hadn't even known her sister until a week ago, it felt good to at least be talking to somebody that wasn't Kavi. She talked to the other tribe members sometimes, but certainly strayed away from any conversation about her family. The tribe had been through enough drama, they didn't need to handle hers anyway.
Aysu sighed through her nose and squinted into the daylight. It felt weird being up right now, but she hadn't been able to sleep. For that, she envied Kavi; he could drop off any time of the day with little to no trouble. She missed the days where he was full of energy and smiling, but the vixen didn't think those would be coming back any time soon. He was bitter about too much.

Kavi was around? Zuki's ears perked up and she scanned the treeline in spite of herself, but all she saw was shadows on more shadows; it'd be pointless to try to spot her mysterious brother from that vantage point.
So she focused on her sister, who was shockingly, actually speaking to her.
"Isn't everybody upset these days?" Azuki asked softly, tail twitching behind her. Even if they weren't really, it sure seemed like it to the young vixen. "But I guess you're right. Company wouldn't be so terrible," she added, offering a hesitant smile up at Aysu. In truth, she would like nothing better than just to sit and get to know some of her family that wasn't her remaining father; maybe, just maybe, they could have a conversation that consisted of more than discussing all the drama that had taken place while she had been gone.

"Yes, I suppose they are," Aysu sighed quietly. "There's been so much miscommunication since Daddy Kazuki died, no one knows how to untangle this giant mess we're in." Maybe that's why she was so mad at Daddy. He was her father, he was supposed to be able to fix things, not just sit there helplessly while they got worse.
"At least you're here now. That is one less thing for everyone to worry about. You being missing, I mean."

Zuki resisted the urge to sigh; she knew exactly nothing about this 'miscommunication' that her sister spoke about; she only knew that her other daddy had died before she even got to really meet him, and now her one Daddy that was left was drowning her in attention.
That was what it felt like. Drowning. Drowning in all the feelings of the tribe, of her father, of her siblings and how they felt about all the other feelings that were going on.
Zuki shook her head at herself and focused back on what Aysu was actually saying, not what Zuki might think she meant or what she wasn't saying. Aysu was saying that she was glad she was back, which Zuki was too surprised and pleased about to worry about parsing.
"At least I'm here now," Zuki agreed, offering another hesitant smile. There was silence for a few minutes while Azuki tried to thin of something--anything--to talk about. They were sisters, wasn't there supposed to be some sort of...innate bond or something? If they were sisters, shouldn't they be able to carry on a conversation lasting longer than ten seconds?
"Um, so, is Kavi...alright?" Zuki kind of blurted, ears pulling back slightly. She'd seen her brother even less than she'd seen her sister; maybe that was what was contributing to the fact that she didn't feel like she belonged here: the feeling that most of her family didn't even want to be with her. It wasn't her fault Daddy Ari was acting so...so, was it?
While she waited for an answer, Zuki pulled her tail more around herself and rested her head on her paws, purple eyes looking inquisitively up at purple eyes that were very nearly identical. Zuki wasn't sure if she was comforted or weirded out by that, but she knew that she should be comforted by that because it meant that there was some sort of similarity between them--it certainly wasn't evident in their coats or mannerisms.

"I'm fine," came a deep voice from the trees. Kavi stepped out of the cover the forest provided; he'd only been there for a matter of seconds, having followed Aysu's scent when he woke up.
Although Kavi looked remarkably like his father Kazuki, even the way he carried himself said the male was something altogether different. He was quietly confident, not prone to tantrums or snapping. A stranger might mistake him as arrogant, but while that was probably partially true, Kavi was mostly like this because it was easier. There'd been enough drama in his life that he'd taught himself two things; that he wasn't going to contribute, and that he was going to keep enough confidence not to let spats hurt him.
Unfortunately, he'd been contributing to the drama lately. As he looked down at his two sisters, Kavi inwardly sighed. He knew that he and Aysu needed to go back home, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Because it simply wasn't home to him, not anymore. Father Kazuki was dead, and they only knew because she had deigned to come down and mention it. Pah. She could have been talking about the ******** weather for all she cared. How could Father Ari keep preaching about following that...Kavi glanced up at the sky. That b***h. And now his other three siblings were still missing, but she couldn't be bothered to say if they were alive, or what the hell they were doing.
Kavi sighed and shook his head. He'd spend enough time ruminating about Selene. His other sister was with them again, and he'd been the world's shittiest brother alive to her. She wasn't Father Ari; he didn't need to avoid her.
The male looked back down at his sisters and smiled faintly. "Hello, Zuki. Nice to see you out here."

Zuki willed herself not to jump when she heard a voice; she only relaxed when the voice was accompanied by a shape--Kavi. Her brother. Actually speaking. Absently, Zuki wondered if she was dreaming.
She knew she wasn't, though, so she sat up some and offered a smile, tail still around her legs. Her siblings--both of the ones that were alive and she had met--were speaking to her. At once.
Careful not to show all (or at least as much as she could help) of the odd, flighty happiness she felt at that, the fact that she had missed them without ever even really knowing them, Zuki nodded her head to her brother.
"Nice to see you too, Kavi," she responded, smile still in place. "How've you been?" Besides crappy, like everyone seemed to be these days? Zuki added mentally, though she didn't say that part out loud. There was enough negativity going around.

"Mm, I've been alright," Kavi replied, shrugging one shoulder. "Probably lazier than is healthy for me, but decent anyway."
And that was the truth. He was decent right now. The drama constantly lingered in the back of his mind, but he'd been able to push that aside and try and function lately. Sure, he was still being lazy as ********, but at least his laziness wasn't wallowing. He just didn't feel particularly inspired to do anything; going back to the tribe wasn't currently an option, the last thing he wanted to do was have to reveal was that he no longer felt loyalty to the Moon Fox. But he couldn't leave the tribe either.
Saying he was stuck between a rock and a hard place was a fitting description for his current place in life.
"I'm sorry I haven't bene around," he told Zuki, pullig his ears back. "I know what's been going on isn't at all your fault. I'm just stuck in a rut these days. A lazy, unmotivated rut." He chuckled to show he was merely poking fun at himself for her sake. Even if he was mentally frustrated at how little he'd done in the past months, Zuki didn't hear to about it. She'd heard enough.

Zuki blinked and chuckled as continued to speak; was laziness really all it was? It certainly seemed like more than that, but she really didn't know, because she didn't really know him.
But maybe now she could.
"I'm sorry," Zuki responded, the first thing that popped into her head--it wasn't that she was actually sorry he was lazy...although, she considered, she was, if it had been keeping her brother from her.
"It's alright, though," Azuki continued, offering a smile again. "A lot's been going on, you're allowed to not do anything while it is," And that was the truth. He was allowed to do anything he wanted, including nothing.
