Hopefully you have read the guild announcement, and that is why you are here. If you have not (for some reason) read the announcement, here's the situation:

-Member of the Month contest is dying, last month only got two votes
-I think it should be put to rest
-It has been going on since November of 2007, this is the third anniversary

Your thoughts?

EDIT: You do know that if you're voting to keep the contest that you actually need to PARTICIPATE in it, right?

Also, I am curious as to why people think we should keep it. So any feedback (for or against the contest) would be appreciated.

For clarification: The sticky would still be available to look at. Y'know... for memories. But there would be no more Member of the Month winners.

I think it would be more popular if the guild had that family feeling again. It would suck to see the member of the month contest go away. Maybe you could remind people to vote every month with a guild announcement when it's almost the deadline.

I have been a part of this guild ever since May 2008, less than a year after the Member Of The Month was created. There are not as many members as there were, at least active members. Most of the members that were active back then have grown out of Gaia, most were heading off to college.

It'd be a bummer, but I understand if it went. I think at the same time, why there are less votes, is there are less people to vote for. A different guild member every month: How many active members do we have now?

I'd hate to see this guild go, this was my home online for a long time.

You made a pretty good point. Maybe it's time to go after new members that are around the age the old active ones were when they joined. You have to keep bringing new people in to keep the guild going it's a cycle. Older members move on so bring in new people to keep it alive

Yeah. I miss the old family feel the guild had, as you said.

2 votes makes me sad that I am no longer an active member. I really did like the member of the month thing though. I think that it shows appreciation to those active members and is a really nice way to give a little pat on the back.
I'm really busy with university and rarely come on Gaia at all anymore.
I feel bad that people didn't know the contest was there. so if they're figuring it out now they should vote!
it used to be really obvious on the home page and perhaps that's why it fell to the back of peoples' minds.

I would love to keep it but if there is no interest then away it should go. I know that I am not as active as before but thatis because school was hell and work piled up... I am trying to become active again so I can vote in the contest.
