It had been a great day at the beach for Rosie. She'd chased away some fisherman, made friends with some fish, ate her lunch that was super yummy. The fish, however, were her favourite part: a whole school swam around her, investigating.
She was still reliving the weird feeling they gave her when they'd raced across her skin as she walked toward where she thought was the road her bus had come down. It took her wringing her hair out again to realize that's not where she was. Her huge beach bag was slung under her arm, her headdress peeking out as she walked, wide-eyed, up to a little old woman at a flower shop. "Hi, sorry for disturbing your flower arranging - wonderful bouquets, by the way - but I am a little turned around. Could you point me towards the main road, where the bus stop is?" she asked, smiling a little sheepishly.
The way the old woman looked at her, a slow blink, reminded her of the old lady who owned her favourite grocers. She was about to make a comment, when the older woman smiled brightly, her eyes scrunching up, pointing down the street. "Thank you! Next time I'm here, I'll make sure to buy some flowers!" she called, running down the street backwards. It wasn't until she tripped and almost fell that she turned around.
After a run up the road, a Rosalba run, which is more of a quick walk, she noticed a road branching off. Aha! This must be it! she thought, shuffling up the road with a bright smile.
Sadly for Rosalba, she doesn't have a sense of direction, and instead of a main road and a bus, she found herself staring at an old school dojo. She walked up the wooden steps, knocking on the frame of the paper doors. "Hello? Is the bus stop near here? I'm kind of maybe a little bit mostly lost after going to the beach," she called, trying to catch a glimpse of any movement. She was a little concerned, because the sun was starting to set, and she didn't want to miss the bus.

Hiroyuki was scrubbing the floors within the dojo. He hummed softly as he worked, his own visage being reflected in the floors. There was a sudden knock that interrupted his work. The young man turned toward the door and could see the shadow of a thing with horns. "What the--?" Hiroyuki's eyes were wide as he crawled to the paper door. As Hiroyuki prepared to slide the door open, on all fours, he heard a voice. The thing was speaking. Ah, it's just a girl who's lost..." He sighed with a grin, although she did have horns. Hiroyuki stood up, and slid the door open to see a short girl with pigtails and a very decorated headdress. Hiroyuki stared at the strange adornment and muttered without looking directly at her, "How can...I help you...?" He tilted his head.

Seeing the young man who opened the door was staring at her headdress and laughed lightly. [colour=deeppink]"It is a little weird right? My headdress, not my face, but hopefully you're staring at my headdress," she joked.
Dropping her bag, that was a little wet from her towel and swim suit, she put her hands on her little hips. "Anyways though, random talking aside, I spoke to some little old lady who pointed me this way to the bus stop. The last bus is at like..." Here she paused to pull out pages from her bag, a big wet spot in the middle. She squinted, turning the schedule all the way around, tilting her head. "I think it says five-thirty. I didn't miss it, did I? Because I know that this isn't a bus stop."

Hiroyuki half-listened, the jewel between the headpiece captivated his eyes. Gently, he shook his head and blinked several times. He looked down at his wrist, only to view his biker glove. That's right, I don't wear a watch... He thought absently, staring up at the ceiling. He waved his hand for her to enter, "I'll go look for a clock..." The door was directly in front of the hallway. A small shelf for shoes was to the left and several pairs of slippers were lined up for guests. He had forgotten the towel he had been using to wipe the floor. It was hanging loosely in his hand. "Please make yourself at home..." He paused mid-step, his leg raised in the air. Almost mechanically he rotated on his heel, his face was bright red. He bowed.
"Oh, wait, um--" he scratched his head with the filthy cloth. "Ah, it's odd for me to invite you in like that, er, sorry..." He bowed again, almost like a reflex. "Ah, welcome to the Aoi dojo, everyone in town kind of just points in our direction...er...for tourist help...I guess..." He slumped. Obviously introductions weren't his thing.

Rosalba smiled as he checked his bare wrist - something she often did herself. Though she usually made up a time, which wasn't as unusual as a friend who looked down her shirt to make up a time. That was totally not what she was supposed to be thinking about, and snapping back to reality, the young man's face was bright red and he bowed. That's cool, nobody bows anymore, she thought, resisting the urge to bow herself.
After his somewhat awkward introduction, Rosie laughed, shaking her head. "The other way was ok too. But does this invitation mean I can't make myself at home?" she asked, her eyes sparkling mischievously.
As she teased, she walked in, looking at the slippers. "Oh! You were just washing the floor, I should probably take my shoes off right?" she asked, flying down to her shoes before she got an answer.

Hiroyuki's eyes grew wide. "Wait, I didn't mean to...oh, no, I mean, yes, come insideeee...." He stammered, trying to sound normal. She offered to take off her shoes, and suddenly he remembered his filthy rag. His face darkened. I...I rubbed this on my head....didn't I...? Hiroyuki smiled, trying to walk off his awkwardness.
"Ah, yes, please. I hope the slippers are comfortable, they're free for you to use." He bowed again and coughed. He straightened and as best he could, attempted a re-introduction. "Uhm, hello, I am Hiroyuki Aoi, head instructor of this dojo." His face grew more pale as he spoke. "I am very pleased to meet you, miss." The young Scizor sighed with relief, his face grinning idiotically. Ah, good thing mom and dad didn't see me do that...haha... Now, he approached her placing the rag onto a nearby hall table. "Ah, so what were we doing...? He slumped a little. His "better" introduction was pretty worthless.

Her shoes unbuckled, Rosalba slipped her dainty feet out of them and onto the slightly cool floor. No wonder there were slippers, little toes would be freezing. She was straightening up, smiling at his attempts. Haha! Why can't I be verbally clumsy instead of physically? When I trip, people usually laugh, not smile. she thought as she listened to him introduce himself.
"Hmm, Hiroyuki," she tested, making a funny face as she said it. Not bad funny, just scrunched up. Realizing it could be construed as rude or crazy, she laughed at herself.
"Sorry, I've been having trouble remembering names lately, which has gotten me into trouble, so assigning a taste to the name helps me remember. And I'm Rosalba Hainrey, kind of a chef slash baker? I think I should say what I do too..." she paused to think about it, shrugging the thought off. "Any way about it, a dojo is super awesome, and I think we were looking for a clock..."
Rosalba looked around, tilting too look as far as she could, almost too far, but rebalanced before she fell. Ha...that would be embarassing...

Hiroyuki nodded. Clocks, clocks, where do we leave them? Normally, someone would say "on a desk" or "mounted on a wall", but Hiroyuki searched the floor absently. He motioned for her to come closer and slid open the first door in the hallway to reveal a sitting room.
There was a large kotatsu in the center with nearby pillows. A chest of drawers was set to the left with rows of frames on it. Many of them had girls, and only a few had what looked like a young Hiroyuki at the age of maybe five or so. An old TV and a chest were at the far end of the room, it was dust-laden and beat up. Hiroyuki stepped into the room looking for a clock. He walked in and could hear a faint ticking sound.
"I think it's in here..." He moved in further looking around, however, the clock was above the entryway. "I guess I don't check the time much..."

Following Hiroyuki into the room, Rosalba smiled at the amount of pictures, wandering over to look at them. "I don't usually check the time either, which is why I'm in this predicament. No watch, and no place to keep a cell phone, so I just don't have one," she prattled on, looking at each picture intently.
She too could hear the ticking, but was more interested in the people starring inside the frames. "Are all these girls related to you? At least one part of one of you looks like someone else, so I'm guessing you're related. Not like my brother and sister - well, I guess my brother and I both have white eyes, but that's pretty much it."
Before he could even respond, Rosalba turned towards him, and just so happened to catch a glance at the clock. Her fairly large mouth dropped open, her eyes widened, and her shoulder drooped. "It...it's past five-thirty. I missed the last bus..." she said, in a steady, quiet tone.
Moving almost liquidy, she slumped onto a pillow, resting her hands on the kotatsu.

Hiroyuki stared around the room wildly, searching for the clock. The white walls of the room swirled and mixed with the wood and paper screen as he scoured the room, but a pink puff falling to the kotatsu caught his attention. He stopped, without faltering from dizziness, and crouched near her. The young man's brow furrowed.
"Ah, so, you can't go home...?" He hunched over the table, trying to level himself with the girl. "Please don't be sad, I'm sure there's another way you coul..." His voice trailed off. "Er, nevermind, that idea wouldn't work." His face turned away as he thought, She might get kidnapped if she hitchhikes... He tilted his head, thinking deeply.

Sighing, Rosalba moved her hands, and let her head fall with a swift bonk onto the kotatsu. Lifting her head a little, she let it fall, softer this time.
Sitting upright, she shook her head. "What a dope I am. At least I put the slow cooker on a timer, so I won't totally lose my dinner. I can probably have it for dinner tomorrow..." she thought aloud, a small smile at her lips. "I wouldn't want to miss a day at the beach - the beach is my favourite place to be!"
She sat thinking for a second, her legs crossed underneath her skirt, the slippers on the floor in front of her. She tilted her head to match Hiroyuki, and asked, "Is there anywhere in town I could stay? And you never answered me about the pictures."
Her bright smile was back - it wasn't like she had anything to do that night, or the next day. Her cooking class wasn't for another two days, so she would be safe. Plus, a second day at the beach? Why fight it?

The girl suddenly brightened and mentioned dinner. Hiroyuki's face turned pink as his stomach grumbled silently. Ah, I guess skipping meals to get work done faster wasn't smart. He studied the girl and her odd headdress curiously. She didn't have much on herself from what he saw.
"I know there's a small inn, but it's actually booked right now." He bit his lip, then smiling kindly. "Well, it could be that many travelers end up stranded here. The inn is very nice, so I usually tell people to go that way, but I think my parents would be fine if I let you stay here." He suggested amiably. "My house is quite empty since my father is getting an operation in a far away place, so I'm left to watch the dojo while he recovers." He paused, then stood up. "I think it might be nice to have some company." He chuckled. "I can let you stay, but only if it doesn't bother you."

If it were possible, she brightened even more. "That would be great! Staying here would probably be a lot better than an inn. Not that the inn wouldn't be nice, but I know you're friendly, and don't seem to be bothered by my blathering, like some people are," she went on, standing up and slipping her feet back into her shoes.
She'd heard his tummy grumble, and snapped her fingers. "I know! To repay you for your kindness, I'll make you dinner! Is your refrigerator fu-...your dad is having an operation? Is it serious?"
Her tone totally flipped, almost mid-sentence, her eyes filling with concern. Her own father had given them a scare recently with having to have his gallbladder out. No more fatty foods for Daddy.

Hiroyuki's head leaned to one side as he stared off into a random corner, daydreaming about his father yelling at him. It went like this:
"Hiro, I don't feel well, I'll be leaving this place to you."
"Wait, why is everyone else leaving, too?"
"You're a grown man, watch the house."
"But...why am I the only one stayin--"
"THIS HOUSE HAS NO FREAKING LOCK. WE WILL BE ROBBED BLIND IF WE ALL LEAVE."
"..."
"Good, s-"
"So...why do I have to stay?"
"[/facepalm]"
He never did tell me why I'm home alone... Hiroyuki turned his attention to his guest with a small shrug.
"Oh, dad just got sick from something. I'm not sure what...but it's curable. My whole family left me here to not be robbed." He smiled, thinking his answer very intelligent. "I think mom said I stressed him out..." Hiroyuki had a seemingly permanent dazed look attached to his face. Suddenly, Hiroyuki looked at the girl with curiosity. "I have no idea what your name is still." He laughed, feeling a little rude in the process. "Sorry, I meant to ask!" He scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
