Mal pressed open open of the grand doors just enough to let himself slip inside and clicked it gently shut behind him. Finally, a place of solitude. The lithe brunette softly padded across the tiled floor, gazing at the pillars and balconies, and wondered how music would sound in such a cavernous space. As if in answer to his silent pondering, he glimpsed a DJ set pushed off to the side. If he could get it working he might be able to entertain himself with a score. The teenager tugged the table out from the wall so he could move behind it and begin switching the system on. One by one the lights flickered to life and the low hum of idle speakers creeped to every wall. With a delicate hand, Malinois placed one of the nearby records in its place and set the needle on the edge. Immediately, music began to float through the air and a vague smile began to form on the boy's face.
Feeling light on his feet, Mal moved back onto the dance floor and heard the full effect such a resonant room had on classical music. Each instrument echoed from every direction so it sounded like the dance floor was surrounded by a symphony. Mal felt inspired by the music and brought his hands up as though he were holding another person, preparing for a dance. What was odd and likely unnoticeable to anyone not acquainted with dancing, was that Mal was in the stance generally taken by the female partner. The motions were slow and subtle at first before Mal broke into a waltz about the room, twirling and spinning in large circles. Amazingly, he dipped himself backwards with the help of his strength and flexibility.
What he wouldn't give to have an arm beneath his back supporting him and a hand holding his...

Alice slowly opened the door. She peeked through and didn't see anyone from her angle, but heard music. Alice walked in just a little, listening to the music that ran across the room. She was looking at the floor, like always, and took out her camera. Alice quickly took a picture of the room. She put it back in her case. Alice didn't feel like doing anymore so her homework was done....for today. She left to find her room.

He in fact hadn't stayed long at the bathhouse. True, Mitsuko had his reasons to stay.. but they still didn't come close to overcoming his fear of water. After that he had gone back to wandering the hallways. Haikimaru wouldn't mis him that much.. would he? His soft white ears bounced slightly atop his head as he walked up and down the endless halls in the school, listening for a quiet spot as he walked sleepily around. After walking past countless other rooms that were occupied by at least one or more people, the boy was quickly growing more and more tiered of looking for a place to rest, but finally found on. Or so he thought. If he thought the-at the time- abandoned ballroom would be quiet all day in order for the black haired kitsune to at least gain any amount of sleep-that he had lost "no thanks to his roommate"- at the time he was more than wrong. Waking up to a loud screeching noise in your ears was not a good thing to wake up to. The boy's fur went on end as he sat straight up from his spot behind one of the hidden speakers located around the room in the balcony. His fever hadn't gone down at all, giving off the color in his cheeks, and he still felt sleepy as music then began playing. He leaned back on the speaker and started to dose slightly once more, but forced himself to come back again. He couldn't fall asleep now.. What time was it anyway? He had to return soon to his room before his roommate noticed the time before he did.. but Haikimaru would have sent out a search party if that were the case. His ears dropped and he slowly woke up once again for the fifth or sixth time that day. The sleepy boy peeked above the balcony so that only his eyes up looked beyond that point, and peered out at the small dancing figure. He couldn't tell for sure exactly who it was.. the boy was still just waking up after all. Blinking awake somewhat he rubbed his eyes and pulled his knees in toward himself as he watched the boy dance beautifully. He was beginning to wake up now, in time to see the boy dip himself, he quickly hid himself back behind the safety of the balcony, crossing his legs and sitting straightly. He stared off at nothing as he thought to himself. "Was that.. Couldn't be. If so.. was this what this one had kept the boy from?" Mitsuko thought, not daring to look back again in fear of being discovered. He had fallen asleep in the Ballroom, and when he woke up he instead found someone he had met before dancing below him. His eyes became dreary again, and his ears drooped to the side lazily. No.. forget it. He was going to go back to sleep. He told himself, he didn't want to seem like a stalker to the other boy. What if he took it wrongly when he found of this coincident.. what if he already hated Mitsuko for stopping him on his way.. wherever he was headed before. But what if he didn't hate Mitsuko and was just in a hurry before? Or maybe he was scared of him? He didn't want the boy to go running off again like before.. The exhausted Kitsune sighed as quietly as he could, slouching forward and hanging his head to the side as his eyes closed and an open half-smile came to his face, a sweat drop forming on his forehead. He was so confused now. Maybe it was just best to stay hidden? As long as their were no bats, birds, lightening, or swimming involved he would be just fine in not giving away his position. while thinking this, he found himself slowly, drifting off to sleep again clutching his bag. His face calm, peaceful, as it always was when he drifted off.

Haikimaru Taninaka was for once worried about someone. In this case it was his roommate. The young kitsune had trailed the freshman's scent up and down the school. There were more ways than that to track his friend. He found the boy sleeping of all places the ballroom. Not only would the young man get sick, but, he would probably hurt his back. Haikimaru leaned over and scoped the young man into his arms and started to carry him back.

Mal let out a sigh as he righted himself. He gave up completing the dance more from depression than lack of ability. A good thing too since as he regained proper footing the door swung open. Mal jumped slightly as his head whipped around to gaze at the silver-haired youth. He thought for sure no one would come to the ballroom this early in the year, homecoming wasn't for another month at least but maybe this guy was coming in just to survey the space? Malinois quickly trotted over to the sound system and turned off the music. He looked back to the man but he was already moving swiftly toward the stairs to the upper balconies. The dark-haired boy was going to apologize for being in the space but thought better of it when Haikimaru knelt out of sight. I should just go. Mal put the DJ set away, covering it with a cloth and moving it back up against the wall before heading to the door.
Having been so wrapped up in tidying, he almost missed the other boy come back down the stairs. Mal decided he was going to wait for him to leave before exiting himself but when the other turned he caught a small glint of fur poking out of the mass the silver-haired one was carrying. Of a will not entirely his own, Mal hastened his footsteps toward the man, trying to get a peek at what he was holding. The silver ears and tousled black hair were unmistakable. "Mitsuko?" Mal neared the pair and finally got a look at the bundle's face. The changeling's eyes grew wide when he saw Mistuko, the sweat starting to bead on his cheeks and the deep color of red he was turning. While Mal usually didn't care for humanoid creatures, he found genuine concern welling up inside him He looked up to the taller one carrying him. "Is... what's wrong with him?"

Deep in sleep, the boy didn't take any notice to whoever had picked him up, or that he had been picked up at all. He clutched his small bag a bit tighter to his chest as he was held by the seemingly older kitsune. The boy's hands were half-hidden by his long sleeves, and his messy black bangs tickled his face as they bounced. His feet hung loosely and his head turned to the side, leaning on Haikimaru. His small white ears wiggled once or twice as people around him spoke, and they caught drifts of other noises coming from distant rooms. His closed eyes flickering here and there as he dreamed. The half-healed burns that showed on his neck were partially hidden from sight, but were healing quicker than a normal humans nonetheless. The swelling and blistering had gone down and they just looked like old scars next to his pale skin. His breathing was easy, slow and quiet. A small twitch came from his right ear as his name was said. He did not wake from his dreaming though, and he did not stir. The boy had fallen deeply into a nice sleep. Thoughts of the past came to his mind, most of them in recent years.

Haikimaru looked up at the boy who just stopped him from continuing his duty as a roommate. He could let Mitsuko get even sicker from staying in the cold air and rested the boys body ask close as Haiki could to his own. It would keep him somewhat warm. "I am here to take him back to our dorm. He hasn't been feeling well and I told him not to be gone for long. I will have to scold him when he wakes up tomorrow."

Scold him for being sick? Wait, Mitsuko was sick? Mal looked from Haikimaru to the cradled boy, his mouth slightly ajar. For being ill, the smaller kitsune looked rather contented. The images the changeling associated with being sick were people writhing in pain or sprawling listlessly on the ground, certainly not snuggled peacefully in the arms of their roommate. Malinois suddenly remembered himself and brought his lips back together. There was no way Mitsuko could be sick, he wasn't screaming or flailing or even wrapped in bandages. Mal nodded his head in confirmation to himself. "He's not sick, he's just sleeping." He glanced Mitsuko over from head to foot, noting the sweat and color of his skin but missed the hidden burns. "He just ran too much is all. See? He's sweating, he's just tired." Whether Mal truely believed what he said was up for debate. He didn't want to picture the other boy balling up in agony from being really sick and it was quite plausible for the naive to believe such a thing. What the changeling didn't know or understand was that there were degrees of illness and his acquaintance really was taken with a fever.
Malinois moved the dark bangs from his eyes and looked back up at Haikimaru, remembering what he said about admonishing Mitsuko. "Why would you be angry at him for exercising?" In all honesty, Mal wondered why the hell he even cared. The situation was becoming more and more uncomfortable and the changeling's social skills were far from developed. He was shy, but didn't know when to shut-up and mind his own business and it make him uneasy because he knew he was doing it. At the same time, he didn't like the idea of harm, even if it was only verbal, coming to the one person on campus who had actually tried to be nice to him.

Haikimaru Taninaka now knew this man was an idiot and not worth his time being a friend. Better off one of his victims. Furthermore. He didn't have to explain himself to this idiot. Haiki adjusted his arm which were falling asleep under Mitsuko's weight. This idiot's hold up was not helping as well. "Baka. I think you are an idiot and not worth my time explaining anything to. Please do to your classes and learn." The older kitsune scowled. He again turned to leave.

Pale, cold fingers twitched, and the boy adjusted himself subtly here and there as Haikimaru shifted the frail-looking boy's weight. Oddly, the one that held most of the weight was the boy's backpack in which he clutched close to his chest like a child holding a beloved stuffed animal. Mitsuko himself was quite light, even for his size. While the two talked, the boy slept. He hadn't had anything to eat that day, which wasn't a first on his part, but he hadn't done it in a long while. Although he wasn't anorexic, he just wasn't hungry((happens to me all the time )). A shiver went up the boy's spine and throughout his body and he withdrew himself, closer to the other kitsune's warmth.

Mal's lips pressed together to a thin line. He didn't appreciate being called names nor being brushed aside. He would have changed shape and tried to protect Mitsuko, but the sleeping boy was tired and Malinois didn't want to disturb him further. Affixed to his place with severe indignation, he watched Haikimaru walk out with Mitsuko and the door shut loudly behind him.
That had gone all wrong... and where was Ren? Ren was always there to stick up for his brother, always there to protect him. Mal sucked in his lower lip and nibbled it gently as he glanced around, expecting Tervuren to pop out of the shadows and come to his rescue like he always did and chase down that mean tall guy and get Mitsuko back. His casual glances quickly turned to panic spins about the room before, out of breath, his knees gave out and he sunk to the floor. Though feeling defeated and alone he didn't cry but silently wished he could go back in time and prevent himself from even meeting Mitsuko. People only ever brought him trouble and Haikimaru just exemplified all the ugliness possible in humanoid creatures.
Slowly, Mal picked himself up and walked to the door. He was hesitant to leave but he knew he couldn't stay. This sanctuary had been ruined for him and he'd never return. With a half-hearted sigh, Mal left the Ballroom.

Vinicius strolled into the ballroom with a sucker in his mouth and his hands in his pockets. He grinned slightly at the sight of the room. It was rather beautiful. He looked down at the floors, 'And it's a good floor to dance on.' He added in his thoughts. Yes he may look like any ordinary punk. He had the slouch of one and not to mention all the piercings...but he had the heart of a lover, dancer, and musician.

Nibbling on his bottom lip, Mitsuko glanced shyly, once more, back up at Mal. His heart fluttering as he noticed himself being pulled closer, and his heart lurched in his chest, getting caught in his throat. But that didn't stop his heart from beating any faster, caressing his cheeks a beautiful shade of red. The boy choked on a lack for words, before he swallowed to finally pull his eyes away from the other's. He hadn't noticed they had stopped dancing until the changeling had brought up their slow dance once more, and he followed the smooth movements Malinois made with his feet. The kitsune felt a chill go up his spine, and he peeked up at Mal as he spoke an apology. He was a bit confused as of what he could be apologizing for, nonetheless the boy's heart still fluttered in his chest. Mitsuko found the heat receding from his cheeks, and he looked down to the side, suddenly ashamed. He felt he had done something wrong, but he didn't know what. His left hand tightened into a fist on the changeling's shoulder, and his face became blank, a somber air to it as he hung his head slightly to the right. Hiding his face with his bangs and his ears drooping slightly, the left side of his pale neck exposed. "I.. can leave if you want.." He said softly, slowly, as if hesitant with his words. He didn't move his head to see the boy's reaction, afraid that Malinois would agree and leave him, or make him leave. Maybe this was all just a sick joke he had put together to get back at Mitsuko for something he had done. He didn't know exactly what it was he had done yet, but he didn't feel very good about himself now. He needed comfort. And in truth, the kitsune didn't want to leave.
