Rider Name: T’go Full Name: Torgo
Age: 18 OOC Birthdate: October 14, 2010
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Brown Rider/Apprentice Ancientcraft [Searcher]
Description: A rather tall boy with thick eyebrows and coarse, curly brown hair that refuses to be combed. His hazel eyes appear larger than most because he’s always wide eyed. He has a big nose, which he thinks is just about the ugliest nose in the world, though he’s probably selling himself short. His teeth are another matter. Most of his teeth are crooked, especially his two front teeth, with the right one coming in ahead of the left, so he rarely smiles with an open mouth. However, he has a sturdy body suited to labor and keen eyesight. His skin is tan from many days spent in the sun.
Personality: Torgo has always been an oddball. Having no real social contact for most of his life has made him terribly naive. He takes people for their word, forgetting that they might have hidden motives, and though it hasn’t happened yet is susceptible to manipulation and even abuse. Torgo is a follower and, though he sometimes gets angry, he doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body. He minds his manners well, like his parents taught him, but is always awkward in social situations. Sometimes he gets giddy and nervous and says things he doesn’t mean to, things that most people find silly or irrelevant, or stutters incoherently, especially around members of the opposite gender. When boys make fun of him he shrugs it off, while women tie him up, kick him around and break his heart (metaphorically speaking).
Underneath that awkward exterior beats the heart of a true romantic. Aside from pursuing his passion for ancient gizmos and working toward becoming a dragon rider, his entire life up to this point has been devoted to finding the perfect woman. It’s not so much that he says the wrong thing. It takes him forever to say anything at all! Since coming to the weyr he’s been spending all his spare time in the library, pouring over scrolls of songs and poetry with the intent to better his writing, so that one day he can write a poem for the girl that he loves. He’s the kind of boy who can never leave a good mystery alone. Apart from ancient craft, girls have always been the biggest mystery to him. He’s great at teaching himself and is always on research projects.
He is sincere to a fault and perhaps this is what attracted Stoloth to him. He’s every bit as inquisitive as Stoloth, but unlike his partner he naturally assumes the best in everyone. If Stoloth is upset about something Torgo will try to make him feel better by helping him investigate whatever is bothering him. When Stoloth is around he feels much more confident about talking to people, even though he still needs a push to talk to girls. He also tends to stick more to the topic at hand when he speaks to Stoloth directly because Stoloth is the only creature he never feels awkward around. He’s reached the point in his life where he’s accepted that he’ll always be strange and having Stoloth around is a big part of that acceptance.
History: Torgo grew up on a farm with his mother and father. For a long time his mother thought she was barren, until Torgo came into her life. He is her first and only son. Both his parents were in their forties when he was born. According to his mother, Torgo’s name means “an unexpected gift.”
Torgo tried to make friends with the children in his community but was laughed at because of his stutter. For some reason, it especially hurt when girls laughed at him. He lived a lonely childhood until one day when he found a piece of ancient technology sticking out of the ground. The artifact fascinated him and within a day he was back in the same field looking for more. Searching for pieces of ancient craft and trying to put them together gave him something to do with his free time. Over time he began to feel less sad about not having any friends, though he always wanted someone special.
When he turned twelve his parents sent him to the hold’s farmcrafter hall where he stayed for two turns. While Torgo tried to focus on his studies to please his parents, he quickly discovered he had no interest in farming and, after being reprimanded several times, decided that the craft hall was simply not the place for him. He continued to help his parents on their farm, working out of love for his family, and earned a little money doing odd jobs, occasionally selling his discoveries, and spending most of his spare time hunting ancientcraft or searching for information about it. There was no ancientcraft hall near Torgo’s hold, so everything he knows about ancientcraft he had to learn on his own.
Shortly after Torgo’s seventeenth birthday, while hiking through his favorite meadow for finding ancientcraft, a blue rider suddenly circled down and landed nearby. Excited and curious, Torgo ran up to greet the blue rider and learned that he had been on a search and was headed back to the weyr when his dragon spotted Torgo in the meadow below. The opportunity to become a dragon rider thrilled him, but he was reluctant to leave until he had discussed everything with his parents, who as always encouraged him to follow his heart.

Opinion on Atypicals: Torgo prefers to stay out of this debate. As far as he's concerned there's nothing wrong with atypicals.

Name: Stoloth Cert: XXXColour: Brown Animal: Reef triggerfish Personality: Stoloth is perhaps one of the most mistrustful dragons you will ever meet. Wary and curious, this mid-sized brown rarely believes anything you tell him the first time, preferring to use his own wits and meticulous mind to piece together the truth for himself. He's not any more intelligent than your average brown, but he quickly becomes fairly good at using his rider's memory to store details about the goings-on in the weyr. A lot of the time, however, Stoloth tends to get caught in mental circles, worrying about small details he can't find a place for in his grand web of intrigue. It takes him quite a while to warm up enough to become true friends with other dragons, but that doesn't mean he enjoys solitude. Stoloth is chatty and personable, mostly because he finds being friendly is the best way to get information out of others. He is almost tenacious in his pleasantness, still willing to try to get on someone's good side long after they've let him know they don't particularly like his brand of socializing. Luckily, there is one dragon who understands Stoloth on a deeper level. Danath never seems to mind his invasive personality and she has a way of changing the subject and calming him when he becomes overwrought. She is the only dragon he trusts without question, and this trust will likely extend to her rider as well. His overly inquisitive nature often leads him into trouble with his superiors, but after a stern word from His, Stoloth will simmer down and take orders, at least for a while. He has no desire to lead and finds that his tendency toward uncontrolled information gathering is a trait better suited for an underling anyway.

TORGO'S TRINKETSA Collection of AncientcraftA bundle of wires - Difficult to spot in the tall meadows, T'go's small collection of wires took years to emass. A bag of nuts, screws and bolts - The most common, easy to find ancient craft around T'go's home. Many carry strange markings. Their quality suggests they were factory made. They may be the final traces of an ancient star ship in T'go's area. A digital watch - T'go's prized possession; the first piece of ancient craft he ever found. With a power source, it might be able to work! Five broken circuit boards - Even though they're in pieces, they're still worth studying. Eight switches - Most of these were buried a couple inches underground. Surprisingly sturdy, they are mostly intact. Miscellaneous - Lots of computer chips and miscellaneous pieces of technology. Some of it might still work, if he could put all the pieces back together.
