I don't know if anybody noticed, but there is a Sebald Code spoken by who I now assume to be Frank on page 67. Decoded it is: "I can't tell if you are in or enemies please respond"
If only the orphans had known the Sebald Code, they would've found Frank! crying

He says are you 'in' whichsounds sort of Esme-ish, so it could have been Ernest, wondering if they were honourable and therefore his enemies. And of course there's nothing to say that is wasn't Dewey either.

While that might be true, I still like to think that the noble volunteers are the only ones who still use those codes.

rurouni_starchild What amazes me still is that he managed to SPEAK Sebald. I have a hard enough time writing it! eek No kidding! I always assumed that Sebald code was only for written documents. With the exception of those films, but that's different. A screenplay has to be written before it is performed. So yeah, I didn't think it would be used in ordinary conversation.

When I first saw that long speech, I guessed it was coded, but I couldn't remember Sebald code well enough, and my cousin told me it was every TEN words... needless to say, I didn't get the message.

rurouni_starchild Kawaii-Star Can someone tell me how it works? Have you read the Unauthorized Autobiography? It's in there.... This might help: http://thequietworld.com/facts.php?page=sebaldcode And for fun here's a sebald decoder for all aspiring VFD members! http://enworb.byu.edu/documents/sebald_decoder.html Thanks for the links. anyway, I was skimming wikipedia when something caught my eye: Quote: Heimlich Hospital: V.F.D. members were at the hospital (including Lemony Snicket, Beatrice Baudelaire, Daniel Handler, and the phrase "red herring"). Snicket, I knew he was a volunteer. Beatrice, quite the same, but she was the Baudelaire mom? I was shocked! And Handler is a volunteer?
