Student/Student Life Information1. Is there an age that citizens are supposed to hit ‘puberty’ or just a special age to be generally celebrated? (i.e. 13, 16, 18, 21 for humans) Marushii Currently there isn't any sort of special ages to be celebrated, given how many species can live on for ages and ages or turn undead. :3 It's fine to assume that they're human-like and go through puberty/whatnot. Please keep the details to the minimal about that special time when RPing, though. 2. What is the campus policy on coming and going (open or closed campus)? Can clubs, for instance, be held in the areas surrounding the academy? lizbot It's open campus AS LONG AS THEY ARENT SKIPPING CLASS. D< Because some of the students can fly, and keeping it closed campus would be an exercise in futility. But keep in mind that the campus is effing HUEGE with a variety of moats, swamps, forests, and a nice graveyard to hang out in kk ~ ! 3. I heard something about Teacher Aids. How does a character become a TA? Is it something that we have to specifically apply for? lizbot D: Any teachers with STDs are free to keep that information personal. Should any teacher approach a student in a manner where their sexual wellness becomes a concern for said student, please report to the Headmistress. As she will solve such problems by cutting it off. Thank you. WE ARE HALLOWEEN After third year when you become an Alumni, you can apply to be a teacher's aid. This has to be approved with the 'teacher' moderator, and a plot worked out for. 4. Is it important for students to have last names? lizbot Characters can have a last name if they want ~ but its not a requirement 5. Can students go out and scare humans? lizbot :'3 It's already in place. Those are considered "fieldtrips" and you'll be issued an Halloween passport before being able to visit the human world. 6. Will there be a field day? Something where students can compete in various events? lizbot D: Yeah ~ that's the Halloween festival ~ which hopefully we'll be able to run throughout october, but first we gotta make sure peeps get settled into rp first edit: oh~and maru has a lot planned for that sort of thing so dont worry about those things kk 7. What is the restriction on how much of their actual species a student can keep while ‘walking through the halls’/attending school? WE ARE HALLOWEEN We're basically following the Rule of Major Edits here. If it doesn't look humanoid anymore. IT IS NOT. IF IT HAS BLUE SKIN AND LIKE TENTACLES ITS AN ALIEN NOT HUMANOID.
Basically: - Your character is able to shapeshift back to its natural form outside of schoolgrounds and class time (first years need a permission card if to do so, when the semester starts. Right now you are free to rp with natural form as school hasn't 'officially started' its term yet).
- So if your char is a spider thing she must have a humanoid form. It Must have two legs and 2 arms. I will say okay to missing arms/limbs, but no to super amounts of extra ones. Missing head = aokay but you need to show the head SOMEWHERE in the student picture, so on so forth.
- Chars can have extra wings, tails, scales, anything that B/C normally counts as edits. Basically envision we have a base lineart that looks like a human. Now what can you do with that lineart that still makes it LOOK like that lineart? I hope this clears up all problems *nods* 8. Do students use their own FEAR to harvest FEAR? Do they need to look/be scary to do this? lizbot Yes ~ though there are many ways to be "scary." 9. Do students need to uphold a scary image? lizbot Definitely, Halloween society as a whole reveres scary. Scary is the food on their table and the air that they breathe. Scary is the reason they even exist! And those who contribute to it are honored in certain ways. But remember, this is society as a whole, and personal choices are left up to you. 10. Can I have multiple students? lizbot Two students? Yes, there's no cap on how many you can own and play, we do ask that you try and keep it to a number that you can handle (if you plan on rping and advancing them) 11. Is there laundry? Do the students only and always wear the clothes on their art? Marushii Yes, there is -- some classes even require specific uniforms! Treat the art like their "school photo" -- the clothes seen are just what they happened to wear that particular day.
Though you might want to be careful about using the laundry machines, though. Stuff "lost" in there turns out to be "eaten" 90% of the time.

Roleplay/Growth Information1. How do I handle a seduction-based student? What if a character doesn’t want to be sexually harassed? lizbot D:> Unless its their fear ability + diceroll battle Situation? Just stay away from that character, either in the ooc sense of simply not rping with them (ignore their existance) or in the IC sense of person_x recognizes that person_xxx has this ability and actively tries to keep a wide berth in-game. Marushii If seduction/mind control/etc related powers do become a major concern or are abused, please notify staff and we will take appropriate action. <3 This goes for ANY sort of RP that makes you feel uncomfortable, be it your own or one that takes place between different people -- we the staff are here to help! Plus that sort of stuff shouldn't happen on Gaia anyway. Despite what the Chatterbox and GD forums on Gaia may think, this place IS PG-13. Chibizoo To add to this, "seduction" CAN (and will!) be worked in different and creative ways, as this is the means of certain species (ie: incubus, etc etc). Instead of controlling the opponent or godmodding, alternate options can be used instead like: - lowering opponent's defenses (very common and acceptable) - creating the illusion of a strong emotion (has to be hashed out to make work) - creates a threatening aura Those are more suggestive type of attacks which like all attacks have a hit/miss ratio. They work like normal attacks in that sense: ie, instead of getting hit by a FREAKING THUNDERBOLT, you are getting hit by a MIASMA of ___. The effect is just as temporary. 2. Is roleplaying romance allowed? lizbot Oh yah, stuff like that is both fine and expected 3. Can I apply fanart of a quest character to growth points, or does it have to be fanart of an enrolled character? Chibizoo Questing characters is aokay! Anything related to this shop INCLUDING minipets are awesome, as long as it's not like, a stick doodle. Use your own integrity here when drawing please XD heart 4. Can students be benevolent towards humans (i.e. little mermaid rescuing the prince, elves helping to construct shoes, fairies guiding the lost through dark forests), or would they be considered renegades? lizbot The nice mermaids, elves, and fairies aren't part of Halloween to begin with. Halloween is home to the "cautionary" versions of these, that humans are told to watch out for. Now we won't dictate personal choices, and your mermaid can make nice with the humans if you want her to, but going fully down that path, where the student refuses to gather FEAR will result, at the end of their 3rd year, in expulsion rather than graduation. 5. If a student lost his/her passport and was forced to wait in the human world, would they be allowed to do good deeds for humans? Would there be repercussions? lizbot D: That's along the lines of personal choice. The occasional moment of nice is fine, but dedicating a character to it will have repercussions. WE ARE HALLOWEEN Yes, doing good deeds and being nice and granting wishes and pony rainbows and s**t is the equivalent of idk, picking your nose and farting in public. Or stripping naked or the likes D: It is very frowned upon, and you most likely will not be able to pass your classes if you do not want to scare! 6. Can my student be roleplayed as homosexual? Is it completely scandalous to be gay in the TiH world? lizbot Dude, these are monsters ~ some of them are likely only nominally considered made or female, because they have all sorts of extras here and there ~ so it's not one of those things that superduper matters, to society in general. We don't dictate personalities, so if someone has a character that hates on the gay, that's fine as long as they abide by the daisy code, and don't use RP as a medium to further IRL "causes" <--- this has less to do with your question, but more something I feel should be said at some point. The more likely social issues to affect one's romancing would come from species, rather than gender preference. Chibizoo I totally agree with Liz @ gender neutrality. I don't think most creatures care on genders that much, but I don't think most demons would be caught dead next to an undead (no pun intended!) 7. Does the orientation ORP count towards growth/completed RPs? lizbot No, that ORP doesn't count, and neither will any of the faculty "offices" that open up. Chibizoo Come talk to us about this one! If you are posting in a large orp and doing at least 800 words overall spread between posts (ie: lets say you posted for the moonlit ball and had quite a few posts!) then we will allow that as a point. The school orientation ORP no so much because it was just 1 post. Example 2: Lets say in the office ORP you rped with Hellma regarding your detention sentence and was carried off to rp with Breck. Assuming you hit 800 words then yes, that counts as a point! 8. Do the fully grown minipets used for growth points have to be different species? lizbot The minipets need to be separate species, and cannot be any of the single stage specials. 9. For most Halloweentown residents, it's very rare that children/teenagers would see humans even if their parents would interact with them? lizbot Yes ~ Mel passed her solo by me first, and since personal contact wasn't really established + Damn Good Reason, it was allowed. We do try to keep this sort of thing as minimal as possible, but can be reasonable. A little bit. Little tiny bit. <-> This much. 10. Do adults of Halloween Town leave to the human world other than during Halloween? lizbot Yes ~ Halloween is the major time for it, almost on a religious level. The day-to-day, though, for some (they can pick a job outside scaring) it's more like...think Monsters Inc, they're putting in the hours to make sure Halloween has a steady supply of Fear. Also there are peeps in the workforce whose job may take them to the human world regardless, such as Reapers and Boogeymen. 11. If we posted more than once - totaling over 800 words - in both the office rp and detention rp (pertaining to the personals board), do we use them both for one growth point each? WE ARE HALLOWEEN Office rp = 1 point, detention rp = 2 points if you participated in the battle! That would be 3 potential points! 12. My character is enrolled, but does not have art yet. Can I post in classroom roleplays? lizbot Hold on classes for now, but go ahead and set her dorm room. 13. How many classes can we sign up for? lizbot You can sign up for however many classes you think your student can handle. Also try to keep your choices IC. 14. How do we notify a teacher/staffer that we want our student to attend their class? lizbot Some classes are open, and your student can just go ahead an start posting. Some classes will be limited and require signups, -the class thread should indicate which it is-. Sign ups will have a sign up thread, so don't worry too much about it.

Questing Information1. When creating and questing for characters, if a sub-species is not listed in the directory, do we just wing it and assume that it’s automatically (insert species here), or do we need to contact a staff member for assistance? lizbot :3 First see if it fits in with any of the species ~ for instance, the demon category includes most of what we would consider Fae (the not nice versions that is) and Reapers include many of the magic users ~ but yes, Monster is a catch-all category for the "everything else" ~ but feel free to ask here ~ ! And if we feel your quest thread lists the student in the wrong species, we'll definitely help you correct it 2. Questing versus enrollment: questing is just planning out your character, correct? So when a quest is accepted, that is just the concept and personality being accepted? Does enrolling a character mean that the character personality is approved and that the physical art is guaranteed to be made/already exists? So once I get a custom slot, I post that I want to enroll my student? When enrolling a character do we post directly in the enroll thread? lizbot Basically, if you have quest that's approved. And like a few weeks later actually get that character? Just post in that thread so someone can do a quick go-over of the quest before admitting the student. Right now it's probably a bit strange, right? That's because there was an off-gaia promotion for student characters a few weeks ago, because we want the shop RP to start out active. So the current peeps with enrollment threads, are one's who already have art or art-in-process, but they still have to get those characters approved. Since having a bunch of enrollment quests approved, and then having them post in the enrollment thread and wait to get approved again in the same day would be a waste of everyone's time at this point, we're letting them skip that. This will likely go for pre-made student in the upcoming event (next week, btw) as well. This is how NORMAL quest ---> enrollment should go 1.Make Quest 2.Get Approved 3.Get actual character at somepoint 4.Post proof that your quest was approved 5.GTFO out of quests and make your damn journal already 3. When admins are going through quests to approve them, would it be possible to comment on things that might not be up to par, to let the quester know what needs to be worked on? Strait Jacket Girl Some Admins will Post in the quest thread when looking over it other will PM, they will get back to you on your quest if they believe something should be changed. lizbot D: We indicate which quests we're going over. We contact the quester, either by PM or posting in the thread. Anything that has problems, we point it out, make suggestions, and work with you until it's acceptable. It's no just a yes/no thing. Most of the threads going through right now? They're being reviewed either through PM or IM, so you just aren't seeing the actual review process for those. 4. What ways are available to play an adult character? lizbot School Staff = Shop Staff atm, adult staff characters may come up in events, but for now please refrain from counting chickens, keeping eggs in a single basket, or lifting hopes above your head. 5. Are we allowed to quest for twin characters? lizbot If they fit into Halloween, and they are twins for a good reason (such as their species) ~ also unless they are super conjoined ~ or you're questing with another person ~ getting the needed two slots is gonna be hella hard for anybody wanting such siblings to themselves 9. Can my quest character be a mixed race? lizbot No, just pick one, as the races are already pretty mixed if you think about it. 10. Can my quest character be adopted? lizbot it's fine, but you for damn sure better have a good reason so people (as in other RPers) don't think your character suffers from special snowflake syndrome. As long as it doesn't conflict with the world setting, stuff like that is fine, just don't go over board. And just because the staff accepts a character into the world setting, doesn't mean others will be as accepting of that character. So think these things through, have good reasons, and make the story behind it good. 11. When my quest character is accepted and enrolled, is it okay to post for a passport? lizbot Yer ~ I believe passports will be handed out once classes start (similar to how battle cards won't be available until the gym opens and that class starts) 12. Are we allowed to quest for extraterrestrial characters? lizbot Yes, in this world setting, the human notion of "aliens" comes from monsters (and maybe demons/fairies depending) who have those visual traits (but aren't actually from space) ~ so if you want a gray: go for et ~ <3 13. Why do some quests get accepted faster than others? Does the acceptance process go by date, or by whichever seems most ready? lizbot D: Are talking about the horse one? Zoo grabbed that because she's instantly attracted to black and neon green. Seriously, it's a little pathetic, but since she's burning herself out like crazy making students, please humor her. K? Other one's that get nabbed quickly are one's that involve enrollment, and we tend to get to those right before or right after the art is done for them. I only get quests that are "ready" but as you may have noticed, in my announcement that I ask for people to post their threads that were made on or before such and such date. This means that once your thread is "ready" all you have to do is post it up on there, and the date it was made, and it will get priority over latter threads that are posted. Chibizoo If you haven't figured out I pretty much grab quests that are closed to being enrolled and/or have the enrolled thing next to them and/or they are going to be grabbed for enrollment. I've been trying to be a good staffer and not tread on other feet in the meanwhile XD. I keep on having to emphasize that the questing fairy is taking both APPROVED and NON APPROVED quests (it is a rather complex but charming system involving fairy butts and five-leaved clovers). I would also like reiterate the quest approval system: you actually need to get your character approved ONE MORE TIME upon approval (for most people) even if it has been quest-stamped, just to see if you've missed any spots. So yarrr, basically a staff coming in to help you with your quest and stamping it to say its a-okay? Pure kindness in their part, so the enrollment approval process goes whoahfast. Try not to abuse it D: 14. Would a quest for an exorcist be allowed? How are they viewed here? lizbot Exorcists are kinda like the human world's protection against a good many of Halloween's peoples, so no, not allowed. 15. Can I quest for a character with bright hair - say...bright pink? 16. Do we have to suggest a subspecies before we quest for a character that is part of it? Chibizoo You do not need to suggest a subspecies to quest for it! the subspecies index is just a small sampling of subspecies and when you reach your quest, it might become more official : x 17. Does my quest character have to have a sub-species and natural ability listed? Marushii It is preferable to have a sub-specie listing, however you are more than welcome to have a generic "ghost" or "monster" character. A natural ability is a passive RP-ability that your character shares with every other member of their specie. If you don't have a subspecie type, please consult the subspecies list to see what natural ability your character's specie has and roll with it. If there isn't one listed, feel free to make one up! 18. I posted my character in quest - request. Does that means its guaranteed to get accepted? lizbot We'll work with you do make your quest acceptable within the world setting, whenever we do go over your quest. However, acceptance isn't the same thing as actually enrolling your character. 19. How can I get my quest character for free? lizbot That is a mystery! There will be freebies given out, again. But the how-to will not posted until after the September event. There are absolutely no guarantees on this, though. 20. Can my quest character have parents that are two different sub-species (i.e. Druid mother, Grim reaper father)? lizbot Within a species it's no big ~ though we reserve the right to go "hell-naw" on hybrid aspects if they give a character a bit too much firepower. 21. If a quest has already been accepted does the enrollment need to be accepted again? What if we tweaked and reworded the personality? lizbot Personality tweaking is fine, but anything adjusted concerning Fear, natural abilities, and species, you should PM me or zoo. If we weren't the ones to accept your quest, though, we'll likely go over it a second time for the enrollment, just to make sure the previous staffer didn't miss anything vital. 22. I see some things are for "art obtained and enrolled" students and other times it's just not mentioned. What's art-only limited? Can I put in my form for the emblem even though I've gotten no word on her enrollment process from anyone? lizbot You can post for your emblem, but it likely won't be made until the student art is made. This is because I like to grab colors off the student and re-use them on the pin, to make sure it goes well with them. 23. Who is allowed to post in the "enroll my character" thread? lizbot It's for anyone who is about to get a character and needs their quest gone over again, or for the first time. So far we've been able to keep track and make sure that enrollments are finished right before or right after the student art is finished, but if you're worried your char might get lost in the bustle, go ahed and post there to be sure. 24. Can my quest character be based off of a video game species? lizbot You can also base it off a video game monster, though not quite as a cosplay. When importing creatures form games just keep a few things in mind ~ - right now, please refrain from basing a student off of a unique character. (Sephiroth is not a student here) - remember that you creature can be "a" not a "the" ~ so if you wanted to create say, a monster based off of a FF summons like Shiva? The student would be a Shiva, not the Shiva. - you will likely have to alter things about the creature to fit into the world setting. So don't try to stick too hardcore to the original cannon, and be flexible about making needed adjustments 25. My accepted quest doesn’t have an rp blurb like a lot of the other accepted quests do. What does this mean? lizbot It just means that it wasn't zoo or myself who went over it (the RP blurb is just us having fun, and has never been required) however, we will likely go over your quest thread one more time whenever that character gets enrolled. Chances are that one of us will be doing that, and that we'll leave a little RP post when we do. 26. When our quest is accepted do we try for an enrollment spot, or do we wait to be contacted by an artist? lizbot Quest acceptance does not mean you're definitely getting that student. It just means that you can sit back and stop worrying if we're going to reject certain aspects of them like: chosen race, subspecies, natural ability, and FEAR. It also means that should you get a bribe, win a custom, or get Quest Faried, that the enrollment should go pretty quickly provided you haven't made any major changes. It's also to help more people understand what is and is not allowed in this shop, so that any later quests they make are less likely to need lots of extra help.

Species/Race Classification1. Is it okay to have a spirit that possessed a doll, perhaps similar to Oogie Boogie? What would Oogie Boogie be classified as, if so? lizbot Depends! If it's a ghost spirit, we'll have to discuss it in staff, and figure it out. If it's more of a golem type thing ~ or "living construct" then yes it's fine, there's already precedent, and it would be considered a Monster. Oogie is a monster. One that isn't really based on lore, which is A-OK for monsters! As making things up is cool for that species, provided they are somewhat "monstrous" 2. My quest character is compiled of different parts. Her current design makes her look like a demon, since she has horns, claws, and wings; she also has a scythe, because I planned on making her a reaper before I realized all of this took away from her human appearance. Is there something specific that I need to put down for race? lizbot If she's made from living or inorganic parts: monster If she's made from dead parts: undead ^ take this into consideration, and have fun with "building" your character! Though keep in mind, if you go with either they will look constructed out of different bits of whatever. If what you really want is a demon appearance, you should probably just stash the "created from parts" and make a demon character. Also: I get the enthusiasm, but remember to keep any additions to your character reasonably in keeping with the species/world setting. You were very right to nix the idea of having a reaper with a bunch of mutations. But by making her another species, you will have to ditch the scythe. 3. Is a bake-neko considered a monster or a demon? WE ARE HALLOWEEN Any sort of 'japanese spirit' creature is actually a demon. That includes kappa, bakeneko, kitsune, tanuki, oni, etc etc. 4. How would a traditional golem be classified (i.e. one made out of clay or wood)? Chibizoo I am going to say a golem is a monster, a form of enchanted monster. You'll have to try your best to keep it as 'humanoid' as possible though, in terms of not clogging the halls, etc etc. 5. How would a Yuki-onna be classified? Chibizoo Yuki-onna I believe is best put in the youkai category. I actually consider them to be more like snow-women demon types rather than ghosts. All youkai/Japanese mythology demons could be considered ghosts, but we pooled them in demons instead she would be no exception *nods* 6. My student is classified into a female-dominant species. How would I work his/her parentage? How would I explain reproduction? Marushii You can make something up -- just because lore doesn't mention any demons of the opposite gender doesn't mean that there isn't any. :3 Your character can have parents of both the same species, or a mixed species. It's all up to you. 7. How would you classify a changeling? lizbot Changelings would be a demon subspecies ~ 8. Would a sea nymph be considered a demon or a monster? Chibizoo It depends how you want to play it! Think of most demons as more magically/dark element oriented while monsters are mostly physical creatures who boast more strength, speed, and the likes. I would recommend sea nymphs be considered monsters because of the lore, but if you want to play them as demons that is fine too. 9. Would you consider a Jiang Shi a vampire or a zombie? 10. If I want to submit a subspecies under a certain classification, do I need to post in its species thread or PM the mule? lizbot You post it in the designated thread. 11. Would a concept based on a Keres be possible, and if so, how would it be classified? lizbot Yup ~ and anything that transports souls to the afterlife would be considered a reaper. 12. How long does it generally take a new subspecies to be added to the main species classification lists? lizbot Whenever we update it. We'll go over the suggestions and modify things like natural ability so that it fits within the shop setting. 13. Are we allowed to create our own monsters from scratch? lizbot You totally can make up your own monster! Just be sure it doesn't fly against the shop cannon. (ie: Desu-desu fairies with catears are a no.) 14. Can sub-species have sub-species? (i.e. demon > kitsune > chaos kitsune) lizbot For the sake of sanity, just make it Demon > Chaos Kitsune 15. If a character died and came back, is reanimated by a higher power/demon and is therefore not technically undead, are they undead or demon? ( example) lizbot It depends on how you spin it, and adjust it to fit within the world setting. You'll likely have to pick and choose which aspects you want them to keep, and the race will end up depending on what you choose to keep. Things to note: - if you want the them to have reaper-esque powers, as in the transportation of souls, then they are a reaper. Which means the reanimation bit may be an issue. - You need to decide if the character your playing is the re-animating spirit, or the meatsuit. Because that likely will affect which race it belongs to.

Club Information
1. If I have an idea for a student club, can I start asking about it in the plot forum? lizbot :3 go ahead and start plotting ~ we don;t have the specifics up for em yet, so they won;t go into play until after the "student orientation" period, where we open RP and get a couple classes going as well. BUT ~ it would actually be kinda helpful for us if you start plotting for them, since the clubs are mainly student run, the staff will have less influence over them than they have with classes ~ so you guys can help us add stuff and work out the bugs in the system, so to speak. (question/answer possibly outdated) 2. Is there any specific information that is required when plotting up a club? Is at least one leader required? lizbot Blue's gonna be writing up some club rules and guidelines shortly. (question/answer possibly outdated)

FEAR/Natural Ability Information1. What happens when quest characters have a similar Fear? Does the person who gets approved first get the Fear? Chibizoo ^ Regarding fear: it is a very versatile, continuously shifting sort of element. That means if someone's fear is to lets say SHOOT LASERS FROM THEIR EYES USING THEIR FEAR, it doesn't at all prevent another character to have some sort of laser-based attack. As long as it isn't word for word, first come first serve should not be an issue at all mad (also different species have dif strengths/weaknesses, which work nicely) lizbot ^ seconding this ~ there's nothing to claim, species or ability-wise. It's like claiming IRL that Person X is the only person allowed to have a lazy eye and the ability to rub their belly while walking. Actually copying another person is, of course, not allowed ~ even if that person's character is from another shop or whatnot (which probably doesn't even need to be said, but whatevs) 2. What is FEAR besides just a power? Do natural abilities according to monster legend count, or is it just a side thing? Is there only one per creature? Marushii Think of FEAR as a superpower. It's basically the "reason" behind what your character can do. You want an undead skeleton student who has weirdly accurate aim when he throws his own bones? FEAR lets you do that. You want a demon student who's so rich she has an unholy car that she can summon with her car keys? FEAR lets you do that. You want a monster student who can bust through walls in a more stylish fashion than the Kool-Aid man? FEAR lets you do that. You want a ghost student who can possess permanent markers and use them to write insulting messages and start rumor mills? FEAR lets you do that. You want a reaper student whose scythe doubles as a flute and can use it to summon a dragon? Negotiable, but FEAR can let you do that! Your student's FEAR can be ANYTHING YOU WANT. You can make it relate to their folklore, or make it relate to them, or make it as non-sequitur as you like! WTF IS FEAR THOUGH?!FEAR is going to be your student's special ability to use in our battle system. I'm still in the process of writing that up, but basically FEAR = your special unique attack that will help give you an edge in battle. You currently can only have ONE special ability. For now. ninja Marushii ADDING TO NOTE:If the GMs think you're FEAR is too far fetched or too powerful, we WILL discuss it with you and find a way to make it work in the shop. <3 For example, a student that has a spell that can blast their own fanfare might be too much. Instead, their FEAR might ICly manifest itself as a little imp as small as your hand, enthusiastically playing a tiny harmonica out of tune. With enough practice and homework, it IS possible to turn this little imp into a soccer-playing demon with a vuvuzela. Or a golem made out of stereo speakers. Or a giant frog that croaks your theme. Or a discoball that flashes in accordance to your theme before dropping and falling onto the nearest person. There's LOADS of possibilities and LOADS of different ways to twist and tweak it to be even more awesome. : D Keep in mind that your character WILL start small. You're attending the Academy to learn how to better manipulate your FEAR to better uses, after all! ;D Don't be afraid to put down a potential starting point and ending point, or even a vague idea as to what sort of power you'd like. <3 3. Are natural abilities according to a specific monster’s legend allowed as not FEAR but a ‘natural ability’? i.e. how vampires can turn into bats? Marushii It honestly depends on what you do with it. :3 In my opinion, someone's FEAR can be their natural ability, however this would receive a boost. Keep in mind that this answer is in relation only to the Battle System -- I do NOT know if this will extend to RP since that's not my department. Answers may vary, no backsies. IN MY OPINION in this shop, FEAR is the special thing that YOU and only YOU can do. To go with your example, let's assume you have a vampire whose FEAR is all about turning into a bat. Sure, everyone else can turn into a bat. But YOUR vampire's batform has a wingspan of 7-feet long. The tips of your wings are vaguely human-shaped, and you can manipulate objects. All your hard study has paid off in being able to turn into a were-bat.* *Were-batness would come after lots and lots and LOTS of study. At first, your student's batform might only be twice as big. Or its wingtips would be able to manipulate objects better. :3 4. Can you have ‘on the side’ natural abilities? Marushii Your character may only have ONE natural ability to start out with and ONE Fear. However, your student may learn additional spells/abilities in class and may use those. When your character reaches second/third year, you have the option to either strengthen your current Fear or gain additional Fear powers. lizbot Yes, these are monsters and supernatural creatures, BUT: - they will be stunted/nerfed/decidedly unimpressive - they cannot be used in battle - you need to post any of these abilities in your quest thread, so that they can get approved - if we feel you're making your character too OP, we will likely not approve them, no matter what wiki may say 5. Is it okay for a FEAR to extend upon a natural ability? For example, if a Xiezhi-based character can sense how good or bad a person is as his/her natural ability, could the characters FEAR be the ability to use the good or bad to fuel him/her in different ways? Marushii Let me explain this! : D In this shop, there are TWO types of abilities: your character's FEAR power, and your character's natural abilities. FEAR: This is a power unique to your character and your character alone. It's one of the things that makes them special and stand out from the crowd! It's the neat trick that only they can do. This is used in battle.Natural Abilities: These are things your character's race (or class, in the case of Reapers) can do. You can do it, your best friend can do it, your twin can do it. All were-creatures can turn into their animal self. All Xiezhi can sense how good or bad a person is. This ability can not be used in battle UNLESS you make ONE of their abilities their FEAR.In your boy's case, let me go pull it up. Quote: The Xiezhi, although Monsters, are warriors at heart and they hold a code amongst themselves that others might not understand. They will mostly go after hardened criminals or murderers, of which they are always fully able to scare...and god is it enjoyable to scare those who thought themselves the worse thing on the block. They will not try to harm or scare Saints or those so pure-hearted, however in the age of today...who is like that anymore? --- Tokuri's FEAR, an ability he aptly names 'Judgement', works in two ways depending on the character of the target and how much 'darkness' or 'light' they have in their heart. Should the enemy have more bad than good, then Tokuri's physical prowess( As in his speed and muscle strength ) will increase even more; defense will weaken. Should it be the opposite, then his defense( Being his tough skin/scales turning even harder ) is heightened; like they say, a good offense is a greater defense, since his strength and speed will weaken. For your case, all Xiezhi can "see" how good/bad a person is. However, ONLY Tokuri can use the amount of good/bad to strengthen him. Another Xiezhi could use the amount of good/bad to either heal or hurt someone, while a third Xiezhi could take that amount and reverse it, making them either more bad/good depending on the amount. If you're uncomfortable with me using you as an example, please let me know. <3 Also, As a note for the battle system, it would be best to start thinking about HOW will you tell how "good" or "bad" another character is. When you obtain him, I will need to discuss this with you in order to make it work with the battle system. :36. Do our characters know about their FEAR abilities before the beginning of the school year? Is it possible for them to not know it at the beginning, and then slowly learn it? Marushii All characters are expected to know their Fear, or at least know of its existence. Think of Fear as being a really neat trick only your character can do. Strait Jacket Girl The student when entering the school year will vaguely know what their fear is but their control will be limited. 7. How vulnerable are incorporeal beings that aren’t undead to anti-ghost magic? lizbot D:' Depends. On a lot of things. Like wtf these incorporeal beings are, the anti-ghost magic in question, and the rp situation. Sorry, but, we really can't offer a blanket statement about things like that. 8. If my character has wings, does his/her natural ability have to be flight? lizbot If the character has wings, you don't have list it as their natural ability. It's just assumed that they can fly, much the same way a student with legs is assumed to be able to walk. Now if a character does not have wings, but their species has some crazy flying skill anyways, then it would be listed as their single natural ability.

Minipet Information1. It says in the thread that minipets are RPable. Are you allowed to RP them without actually having a character in the shop? lizbot RP-wise, think of them as pet-pets for now, and thus not for in-guild RP. If you want to RP them informally in-shop, that is, of course, completely fine. If there's enough demand for purely mini-pet RP, we can probably work something out. If someone with a student want an RP with someone's clickable, just shoot me a PM and I'll see about getting some small guidelines in place for such. KK? 2. Could I make my character into a minipet? lizbot If you win a fully custom clickable (only available through events/mini-events) you can request one of another character. A class may have something along those lines, also events and rp-schizz might have something like that as well. Just randomly appearing otherwise, however, is unlikely ~ 3. Are messages from the minipet site legitimate? Why does it give me a vague instruction? Marushii Congrats on becoming eligible for a prize! That message you received is a hint towards the prize. ;D Good luck! 4. I tried to input a promo code and it didn’t work. Why? Chibizoo If you are talking about the phoenix promo code it is actually a hint. I mean it says hint right on the promo code!! You have to search within our Gaia thread (see what the hint says) to find the answer! Marushii Alternatively, if you have tried a code and it doesn't work, check the Minipetocyclopedia. If it's retired, then the code will not work -- sorry! 5. Are the Voodoo Doll minipets alive, or do they not come to life until they evolve into a teacher doll? lizbot D: the initial doll just sits there and stares balefully at you, the teacher dolls only move sometimes, when you least expect it

World Information1. In Halloweentown is there a market to buy weapons, food, toys, etc.? Would it be tent-stalls or buildings on a street? Marushii As far as a market goes: yes. There is a mall, and during celebrations tent-stalls and festivals DO pop up and offer their wares ala medieval style. 2. Are our characters’ homes in Halloweentown, or in the outside world? lizbot It's expanded like way since NMB4C ~ it's not small at all, though it's all still referred to as Halloween Town. It's pretty sprawling with different regions and plenty of rural areas for the country folk. There's plenty of room for your boy's home, and you can totally make a little Scottish enclave there. 3. Are there human influences in Halloweentown, i.e. languages and geographical knowledge? lizbot Yes there are, some creatures are created directly from human Fear. Lets say no one was afraid of leprechauns, and so there really weren't many hanging around Halloween. And then the human world decides to make a movie where a leprechaun runs around scaring the s**t out of millions of kids and Jennifer Aniston. In Halloween, leprechauns would be popping up like really ugly daisies, and most of them would have a really terrible Irish accent to go with. And students would have heard about how scary there were in places from adult conversations ~ so it's entirely reasonable for a young leprechaun to be all, "Hay man, leprechaun's scare the seeds out of Americans! High five!" Though it likely don't know what Americans really are, or at least where it is in the human world. 4. Can undead characters give birth in Halloweentown? demon_pachabel To answer your question, 'birth' in Halloween town doesn't happen in the same sense as it does in the human world. If you go to the information subforum there's a bit on a special pumpkin patch that might help you with that. Marushii For even MORE information, check this out!

Reaper Information
1. Is it okay to have a reaper’s weapon given to him/her at a ‘special age’, or purchased from a market area? Strait Jacket Girl The reapers don't buy their weapons cause they're gifted them basically at birth so to speak, though their capability of handleing it and wielding it effectively will come with age. (Something along those lines but at school they're already received their reaping weapon)
I don't know about the market however, but where the reapers weapons are concerned they have their already. Though these weapons would have stipulations when it came to a battle as not to give reapers an unfair advantage at the start.
I spoke to Maru about it and for the Battle system she said, "Reaper's scythes will be treated like unarmed, and will be blunted with FEAR to prevent lasting injury during combat." Marushii While weapon stores do exist, no student or any PC characters will be allowed to purchase weapons yet. Weapons are something that will or will NOT be implemented later on down the line. For now, Reapers may assume that their parents/guardians gave them their weapons, or that they earned them somehow (Reaper admin, feel free to correct me/make up some shop lore on this). 2. Is it required to have a special story behind a reaper’s weapon? Strait Jacket Girl Far as I know there are no requirements behind the weapon's story, though I if you like like I'm sure you can make up one and Sherlock or I can look over it to make sure it's all kosher.
3. Does a reaper always have to have a scythe, or is there room for variation in his/her weapon? Strait Jacket Girl No it is allowed that the weapon can be something other then a scythe. The basic idea behind the weapon is that it's their reaping item so it could be a sword, or even possibly a gun, though I'd have to double check that sherlock and liz 4. How many subclasses are there for reapers? lizbot right now the majority of reaper subclasses are of the magic user variety (witches, warlocks, etc.) So far the thing that makes it reaper unique (imo) is their weapons, because as said, they are NOT limited to the regular scythe. 5. Is a human allowed to be a reaper? lizbot Human's are not allowed at all. Their heads would explode upon entry. It's super messy, but some find it to be rather entertaining. Also: provides its own snacks. Reapers are human-looking. Not actually human or part human. The only creatures that could be considered part-human would be zombies (and that's more about...human-parts) and in that same vein of thought: living constructs. So your dude could possibly work, but we'll have to work with you on it when you either enroll or whenever we go over your quest + you'll have to wipe the majority of his human life from his memory. 6. Are witches allowed to have brooms that enable them to fly? lizbot TBH ~ I think it's a bit much for witches to get broom flight while in school ~ along the same lines of automobiles to us, I'd like it to be more of an "semi-adult" thing ~ if you feel very strongly that your witch must have flight and that it's important to their story, then give us your Damn Good Reason whenever your quest gets looked over.

Demon Information1. What would one classify as a Nergal? Are they like the ones from Billy and Mandy? Chibizoo ^ I kind of borrowed the concept from them, they are classified as 'demons' atm, but I believe if you're staring at the one from the flatsale, is a more 'parasitic' demon, though I'm sure some of them are more pure in form. If anyone else is being confused with species and where they would go, the species information thread has quite the hefty bit of information to help you guys out. New additions to species can always be added as seen fit wink

Ghost Information1. Is it assumed who the students that were ghosts at one point used to be human and died and ended up in Halloweentown, or have they always been ghosts? x___Doctor Ruri Most are, yes. They are not aware of their past lives though, save for that one obsession all ghosts carry with them. So say you had a character that was a soldier in life. Well, he'd not remember ANYTHING about being a soldier, but in death he might be obsessed with precision/perfection since soldiers in the army are required to be meticulously clean. 2. Since ghosts aren’t actually physical, it would be hard for a monster with a physical FEAR to harm them, correct? Say, for example, that Monster A causes FEAR by making them feel creeped out by his slimy tentacles. If he were in a fight with a ghost, would he be at a great disadvantage? Would Monster A therefore have to somehow jump out and use his physical appearance of being scary in a battle instead of the other tactic, which relies on sensation? lizbot :3 Everything in Halloween is made of fear, ghosts aren't immune to this. Especially in battles ~ where an attack is basically one student using extremely focused fear to hit/dodge another student. For a ghost to be immune to physical attack, that has to be their fear ability. Also for Snots? This ability can only be used once in battle, because they aren't able to keep that focus for an extended amount of time. 3. Can ghosts have parents? lizbot If their living parents died at the same time, and didn't pass on either, it's possible. But that's something we'd like to stay away from generally, as ghosts aren't supposed to remember much of anything about their past. If you'd like to make a character like that make sure you have a Damn Good Reason and we'll try and work it out with you. 4. How do ghosts generally come to this world? lizbot They died and didn't move on, Reapers find them and bring them back to Halloween. More Information For more information, click here. 5. Would ghosts regularly try to help each other if a spirit comes to this world, obviously mindless of their past? lizbot Ghosts are a very territorial 'keep to yourself' species, so while it's allowed, it's not common. 6. Could a ghost appear in this world with an object of their past, i.e. a video game console? lizbot D: I'm going to say no to a console and video games, unless she's a Haunt, in which case she could be bound to either the console or a game. - HAUNT:: xxxxxCommon Desc: Haunts are tied to a specific object or place, and frequently share physical attributes with their object. Other than this, they vary greatly. xxxxxNatural Ability: xxxxxxxxxx • Object invocation: A haunt's powers are usually tied to their power object in some way.
7. What is the view on an ‘orphan’ ghost? lizbot All ghosts are pretty much orphans. 8. Can a ghost’s tangible body get smelly? 9. What happens if they go intangible when their tangible body is dirty? lizbot Whatever you happen to feel like RP-ing. 10. Is it frowned upon for a ghost to retain scattered, useless memories of his/her human life (i.e. sensations, vague impressions), when he/she is brought to Halloweentown very quickly after being turned/resurrected? lizbot No, not the way you described. It's when a character is actually knowledgeable and/or strongly based in the human world that they get frown-y faces. Also, there must be a good reason for it. Undead and ghosts have innate reason to have a past connection to the human world (tenuous as it is.) Other creatures: not so much, so we're a bit stricter about them, because they are lacking an obviously Damn Good Reason. On things like this, there is room for reasoning and compromise ~ but that Damn Good Reason is pretty vital on the questor's part ~

Undead Information1. Are undead able to give birth and if so, can undead characters be born in Halloween Town? demon_pachabel To answer your question, 'birth' in Halloween town doesn't happen in the same sense as it does in the human world. If you go to the information subforum there's a bit on a special pumpkin patch that might help you with that. Marushii For even MORE information, check this out! 2. So undead characters can be born from pumpkin patches OR have been turned into one? ^__^; WE ARE HALLOWEEN Yep! Undead and Ghosts have plenty of options. : D And yes, Undead do "grow." Though if they want a growth-spurt, it's not uncommon to trade-up some limb/torso sizes in order to get bigger faster.
