Have you seen the Monty Python Flying Circus in German?

It was released on DVD here a year or two ago.

Oh yeah, I love the Monty Python German Episodes, I can speak fluent German so I had so much fun watching them. I love the Bavarian restaurant, that was brilliant. I'm amazed that they didn't opt for overdubs, but actually preformed the whole thing themselves in German.

Can you by any chance translate the lines in the 'worlds funniest joke' sketch? Where the joke is so funny it kills?
*Doesn't speak german*

Actually, it's not that surprising at all. Consider just how small a continent Europe is. For us, traveling from Pennsylvania to California is no small thing. And that's just state to state, staying within our own country. It's a much shorter distance from Italy to Germany. So it's not uncommon for Europeans to know three or more languages. So it is entirely possible that the Pythons knew German beforehand and decided to use it.

Well, I do remember an interview or something where they were talking about learning their lines in german and learning the translations so they understood what was going on...

Yeah, they went to Germany and got people to translate their sketches and tell them what words they needed to emphasize and things like that. They talked about it on "Live at Aspen". 3nodding

Nope, but it certainly seems like it would be interesting to hear, nonetheless!

Who is Phillip Quast?
Philip Quast is an extremely talented actor/singer. He's mainly a theatre actor, but he's done a few movies and shows. He's mostly famous for his superb role as Inspector Javert in the musical Les Miserables. heart
