I woke up one night in cold sweats, and tried to get up. I couldn't. I tried as hard as I could, but it felt like I was being held down by my own blankets. Not even my eyes would open, and it felt like someone was breathing on me. It was hard to breathe, and I couldn't yell. It lasted about two minutes before I could move again, and it's been bothering me ever since. My friend told me about that happening to him a few years ago, and I'm wondering if it's just natural, like falling dreams, or being in public nude dreams.

Yeah, it's really traumatizing. o_o It's happened to me a couple months ago and I did not want to sleep after that. >>;; Cause I didn't want it to happen again. The feeling went away after a couple weeks, though.

That's scary! Is it a natural thing? What causes it?
I've never had that exactly, but I can scare myself into sleeping because I can make myself have nightmares through self-suggestion. I wish it worked the other way, too...T-T

Rin Loveless That's scary! Is it a natural thing? What causes it? I've never had that exactly, but I can scare myself into sleeping because I can make myself have nightmares through self-suggestion. I wish it worked the other way, too...T-T It's natural in that it's a sleep disorder. The symptoms are caused by the mind waking up before the rest of the body has a chance to catch up. Sometimes you end up having hallucinations before you can snap yourself out of it. I'm told it can be very terrifying if you don't know what's going on.

The only time I've ever had that happen to me was when I had severely sprained my knee. It kept me up all night, in this weird state between sleeping and wakefulness. I saw people in my room, and they were all shadowy, and I had this sense that I was being tossed up to the ceiling and thrown back down again, all while I couldn't move.
It was terrifying and horrible, but it wasn't paranormal.

I've had a nightmare where everyone was trying to kill me, when someone was about to stab me I woke up. I wonder what it's like to die in your dreams . . .

HakureiMiku I've had a nightmare where everyone was trying to kill me, when someone was about to stab me I woke up. I wonder what it's like to die in your dreams . . . It's not really that interesting from what I remember. It's happened to me at least once, maybe more. As to what happens, from what I can remember I either woke up shortly afterward or I entered another dream.

I've experienced partial sleep paralysis, it's not so bad now. Turns out that once you enter the r.e.m mode of sleep, where you start dreaming to when you wake up, your body enters a semi-vegitative state and movements become limited. It's as if your mind detatches from your body, figuratively speaking.

Jeez! I wondered what he hell was happening to me! I had a dream thing that I was watching myself sleep, it was way too real, the details of my room were sharp and perfect, I was laying on my side and my door opened and there was a tall man-shadow standing there with his arms crossed, just watching me, I couldnt move or look away! He came to the side of my bed, leaned over me then tried to pick me up. I woke up staring at my open door.Which I ALWAYS close! Because of my cat 0.0

Holy hell. Is that what that is? I am so relived/disappointed. I have this recurring dream that I can't move because of a spell placed upon me by a powerful Dragon Rider. He'll be sittin' there chillaxen on his dragon outside waiting for me to be able to get up from the spell. And if I can, I will be able to go on awesome adventures of evil and miscellaneous mayhem with him. But I can never get up. Demented I know. I'm a little bit evil I think. ninja
It comes with a tingly feeling. Is that normal too? Like your foots asleep, but it's the whole body. And it comes in waves, starting from the toes, going to the head. Like a pulse. It's weird and I don't like it!
