Dendera sat at his counter staring straight at the piece of paper in his hands, the envelope it had come in still lay on the counter before him. This wasn't the first time he'd sat there, reading and rereading, it had been almost a week since it had come in the mail. It was world shattering, or it should be. After the first time he had read it, he just set it down on the counter and went on as if nothing had happened, but his heart pounded his rib cage, beating, knocking, trying to force him into the realization that it wasn't just some letter. It was a notice, and it was real, and this was happening.

He'd been putting it out of his head, refusing to acknowledge it's existence, but now all the bottled up emotions spilled over and he couldn't hold them in any longer. The tears that he had been battling against finally spilled over, and when it rains it pours. He shoved the letter away, dropping his face into his hands as the grown man began to sob. He was visibly shaken, which was all new territory for the man. Nothing could ever bring him down, he was a soldier, he was a warrior, he was a man. But even for him, this a truth he'd tried not to acknowledge.

He traced over the Arabic type script in his head, clenching his eyes shut tight as though he could block it out, but it'd gotten in and finally gotten through. Amasis was dead. Some part of Dendera had always known this, but without a body it never really sunk in. The real permanence that he was gone never really made it through. It was like he had spent his life expecting the man to just appear on his door step one day and be his soldier again, be the man that he'd looked up to again, be the man that made him who he was again, teach him, help him through the hard times, but that wouldn't happen.

He sobbed, long and hard, in his silent home. And once the tears had finally dried up and the shaking stopped, his shoulder slumped, his upper body collapsing against the counter top, as his eyes stared forward towards the letter. It had come straight from the president, he supposed that was meant to be a compliment to the service that Amasis and himself had given to the country that he once called home. It didn't matter who the letter came from though, it still hurt just the same. And it came with something else, something he'd said no to on numerous occasions but considering the death of the man that raised him at the hands of those that he'd fought, Dendera began to actually consider it. It was a request to serve his country again. He didn't know what to do, but in any case he would have to go to Cairo at least for the funeral. The saddened look returned to his face, "Funeral.." it sounded so horrible, he buried his face against his arms again as though he could block out that word.

"He's a beautiful monster"

"You're a knife, sharp and deadly"

He was on his way to that house,
'again,' his mind supplied. He wasn't keeping track of how many times he'd walked this same route from his own house, up the sidewalk, around a corner, and more twists and turns and streets that he now absentmindedly traveled. It was practically wired in him to know where he was going and how to get there, he could probably do it just as well blindfolded by now. The cement was hard and rough against the bottoms of his black shoes, the sun high in the sky, his usual black attire absorbing every bit of the rays of light. It wasn't hot, though, not with fall coming. The heat that his attire did absorb from the sun was just enough to keep him at the perfect temperature, at least until the weather took another turn for the cold, which the Vaporeon never seemed to mind. Summer wasn't really this thing anyway.

After about thirty minutes of walking like this, he finally found himself walking up the path between a familiar front yard, his feet stopping in front of a now familiar front door. How many times had he done this? It was hard to say, but it had been about, or maybe even exactly a month now since he first met the Umbreon, and here he was again at the man's house. At first he just stopped by to return the borrowed clothes after finding the note in the mailbox, cleaned and folded, like he said he would. After that..it kind of became a blur as to why he went to see the man. Something inside himself wasn't the same anymore, even while he was playing his guitar in his room. The man's car was comfortable, the man's house was comfortable, the man's own presence was comfortable to him, for a reason he couldn't explain. Being in his own house, even his own room..it was all too cold and stagnant, lacking whatever comfort the Umbreon's presence and belongings, living space gave to him, and part of him didn't like being without it. ..or would one say by now, more than part of him didn't like being without it.

As was usual, not an uncommon thing by this point, Silas reached forward and turned the handle, pushing the door open quietly and stepping inside with even less sound. It was always unlocked, not that anyone would be stupid enough to try and break into this particular house, though Silas wouldn't put it past people to be that stupid. He never bothered to knock for a few reasons, one being that houses weren't all that 'sacred' or 'private' to him, second being that he was already too used to coming to the place, which he couldn't tell if that was good or bad, and another being that he liked to try and sneak up on the man, though it never seemed to work. Not yet anyway. It was almost a game now, one that the Vaporeon was determined to win.

After he'd silently shut the door and slid off his shoes, like usual, he snuck just as quietly further into the house, looking for a target that would stand out all too easily amongst all of the white colored walls and floors. He'd be easy to spot wearing all that black, his skin and hair only adding to it. Silas crept quietly until he spotted his target, the man he had been looking for. Normally he would've proceeded with some sort of attempt at surprising the Umbreon or attempting to contain him in some sort of 'fighting hold', which never worked either, but something was different this time, something was...off. Not only did he get unusually close, far closer than the man had ever let him before letting Silas know he already knew he was there, but the atmosphere just seemed strange, somehow hollow. He wasn't sure why, but it made him unsettled. Dendera was always lively, but this was something far from it. Silas had only been gone a little over a week, having to deal with classes and his band mates, but a lot could happen in a week.

The Vaporeon continued to walk silently until he was practically standing next to the man before speaking.
"...Dendera..?" he started quietly, a little uncertainty in his voice for a change, before his eyes wandered over to some sort of envelope and letter on the counter. He reached over with a hand and picked up the letter, his eyes scanning over it uselessly, finding himself unable to read anything on it, which somehow only frustrated him. The only thing he could gather from it was that it looked official, and when his eyes finally found their way to the Umbreon's face he found his mood taking a sudden nose dive even he couldn't make sense of. "What is this?" he finally asked, still holding the unreadable paper in hand.

Dendera was completely in his own world, and for once he didn't hear the door open, he didn't feel the soft heat emanating from a human body, he didn't sense the eyes on him. It was like he'd reverted back to the 5 year old boy that was lost among the wreckage of his home, the boy that needed a soldier to come and take him out of the debris. But when Silas spoke, that familiar voice demanded the return of Dendera, the man.

He slowly lifted his face from his arms, trying to force a smile onto his face but it must have come off as weak at best. Then the vaporeon continued, taking up the letter which the umbreon already knew he wouldn't be able to read a word of, unless Silas secretly knew how to read Arabic. "It's a letter from my old home, Egypt." he said quietly, he wasn't sure if he had told Silas he was from Cairo or not before, but it was at least guessable from the umbreon's appearance and mild accent.

He wasn't sure what else to say, he couldn't just spit out the words that he was having trouble even thinking about, even if it was to tell Silas. He'd grown quite fond of the boy, but this was something that was a little too much. Aside from that, he had a feeling that it would upset the vaporeon to hear about the request that was made in the letter, and he wasn't really ready to be in an argument right now.

So with all of this considered, he opted to give as little information as necessary though surely the boy's curiosity would ask for more, he would just avoid the painful points of the subject, for his own good. Even Dendera had to be selfish sometimes, "I have to go to Cairo." he said finally, crossing his arms over the counter and resting his chin on top of them, his eyes now stuck to the envelope. He could feel the tears welling up in his eyes now, as though he hadn't cried till his chest hurt just a while ago. But he fought them back, tried hard to keep them from spilling, lest Silas worry about them.

His eyes went a little wide when he finally got some sort of answer, though they were short ones. His mind had already vaguely put together some sort of visual map as soon as the Umbreon finished speaking, and he found himself unsettled by how far the distance was.
'I can't..it's...it's too far,' he thought to himself, his legs wobbling slightly until he was able to regain his bearings. Silas wasn't even sure why those six words were even affecting him so much. He had to lean a little on the counter, though tried to make it look as casual as possible, just to keep himself completely upright. It wasn't like his legs would collapse from shock, it was just too obvious that he was having difficulties with this news, and he hated showing that. But he still couldn't figure out why he was so disturbed by it. It wasn't like he ever thought Dendera would be around him forever...did he? Was he expecting too much? 'No..it's because..' he thought again, glancing a little to the side, '..I believed him when he said he'd stay. This has to be more important than he's letting on..' He folded the letter quietly and slid it into one of his pants' pockets, planning to make use of it later when he had the chance.

"...how long?" he finally asked, his voice a little quieter than before and unable to really look at the man. Part of him was..concerned, the other part felt somewhat back stabbed by his words, even if it wasn't intentional, and another part was...sad? Well that was a new one to feel around the Umbreon, and even more so new for Silas to acknowledge. Their time together really was changing him, not quickly, but that change he felt the day they finally spoke with him sober was obviously in affect, and he didn't know what to do about it.

The Vaporeon was starting to feel an odd knot in his chest. It was small, but the pressure was real enough. He didn't like thinking about it, but he'd felt it before, or at least something similar. Pain, pain in the form of emotion, a pain that didn't attack just one part of your body but everything it could reach. It was worse than a cut, worse than the scar on his back or thigh, and the scars it left were always more damaging. For the first time in a while he actually found himself afraid, afraid of whatever words Dendera was going to say.
'Why is it he does this to me. Is this what it's like being around other people? Getting close to someone?' he thought again, his eyes glancing over at the man briefly.

Dendera's body shook as though he were freezing, a silent shudder at his thoughts. He could practically feel how much it affected Silas, and he felt bad but he couldn't be the one to comfort the vaporeon right now, he really wanted to but he just didn't have the strength for that right now. He couldn't pretend that everything was ok, he couldn't reassure the man, he couldn't promise to return. He didn't know what was going to happen, and it felt like that letter had changed everything. It's true that a part of him, the logical part of him, had known for years now that Amasis was dead. But he hadn't had to face it before as an undeniable fact. There had always been the chance, however slim, of his return. And that had been a secret hope that had kept Dendera strong, for him.

But now the man that had made him the man he was, was dead. Killed by those Dendera had fought on countless occasions, making it hard for the umbreon to deny his aid in fighting them again. He gritted his teeth at the thought, normally his memories of war were solemn to him but right now it just brought out a silent bitter anger, one that turned a normally tender and just man into one that would seek relief through fighting.

Silas's question hurt, a lot more than he could know. 'I don't want to leave..I don't..I have to.. how could I not be there for him when he was always there for me?' his thoughts supplied, an attempt at a comforting reality for Silas but it wouldn't leave his lips. How could he explain just what Amasis was to him? How could he explain what he meant to him? How could he even say his name? He couldn't talk about this, not now.

"I don't know." he finally responded, his voice starting to break. That was all that he could bear, he quickly shoved his face into his arms once more as his body shuddered with the sobs of a severely distressed man. "I don't know.." he repeated in desperation. He hated for Silas to see him like this, it made it hurt that much more. He wanted Silas to always see him as the strong caring man that he tried to be, but some things bring even strong men to their knees.

He could hear it, and soon after getting a reply from the man he could see it.
'...it is more important than he's letting on,' he thought to himself, and it was shortly after that thought that he realized his expression had turned sympathetic, an expression he never wore. But it wasn't the only thing he was feeling, his own pain was increasing, spiraling, and the realization that the Umbreon might disappear from his life was starting to make him feel some sense of urgency that he couldn't figure out, like with most things he felt around the man. The pressure in his chest was tight yet heavy, and it was making it so hard to breathe, to think, to focus, but he tried.

Silas reached over after a moment, his hand hovering above Dendera's head hesitantly before reaching down, resting it lightly on top of his head for a moment. He hadn't quite realized what he was doing, yet he was fully aware, it was all a bit surreal to him. He practically never showed anyone any sort of compassion, sympathy, feeling, but when he did it was always brief, always a sliver of something that part of him didn't dare explore any further. The moments seemed to have their brief time limits, but this time he could've sworn it broke the record of any others he'd done.

The Vaporeon retracted his hand at some point, taking a few steps back as he spoke quietly, but audible.
"I have something I need to do.." he started, turning around to walk out of the kitchen soon after, "But I get the feeling you won't like me when I get back." And with that, he quickly and quietly went back to the door, slipped on his shoes, and exited the house, walking quickly and cutting across the grass of the front yard. 'Why am I getting like this over just some man? Only one..' he thought again, his pace further quickening until he was in a full blown run, 'That's the problem, there is only one Dendera. Idiot!'

The Vaporeon ran down the streets' sidewalk, his eyes darting back and forth at crosswalks and intersections, not paying attention to how fast and heavy his breathing had gotten until he reached the familiar entry way of the college he attended. Even then, he didn't stop running. That sense of urgency had overwhelmed him as soon as he stepped out of that house, and it wouldn't let up until he was sure of things again, or one thing in particular. People were staring, students, faculty, people parking or exiting the parking lot, visitors, but for once he didn't care at all. Not one bit. They weren't important, they didn't even register, and if not for Silas's automatic maneuvering abilities from the days when he was in the street gang, he probably would have run into someone long ago.

He raced through an open door originally held open for someone else, his chest protesting to the amount of air he was inhaling and exhaling so rapidly. His feet quickly and lightly carried him down the hall, ignoring stares, yells of protest about 'running inside the building', until he finally came to a stop in the foreign language department and at one door in particular. He only took a moment to try and calm his breathing, pushing the door open and finding exactly who he was looking for sitting at his desk in the empty classroom.
"Professor-," he managed to get out between his heavy pants, fishing into his pocket and pulling out the letter he had stolen off of Dendera's counter, leaning against the door way with his free hand, "I-..I need you-..to translate something for me."

Dendera was still quite visibily shaken and the hand that he felt touching his head didn't quite help. A part of him understood what it meant for Silas to choose to touch anyone on his own, and that part of him was grateful. But for the most part he was just unsettled to even be like this in the boy's presence. How could he keep a promise to protect the vaporeon when he couldn't even compose himself?

He felt almost ill from it all, the shuddering slowly peeling him away from sanity. He tried hard to bite back the tears but they wouldn't stop, it caused the sobbing to be more vocal when he tried to stop it, which made him bite down on his lip in an attempt to contain it. He couldn't remember a time that he had ever felt so weak and helpless, in fact there probably was never a time in his life that Dendera felt like this. He was easily a vessel of optimism, usually finding hope in the worst of times, but now he was confused and scared and sad and angry. His heart being tugged in all directions.

He didn't even realize what Silas meant when he spoke, he couldn't think about it. He hadn't noticed that the letter was pocketed, not until long after the vaporeon had run off, and he became able to stop his tears, and looked forward at the counter. It was missing. Now he understood what Silas meant, the boy wanted to know what the letter said. Part of him was worried about what would happen when it was translated, but another part of him felt that at least he wouldn't have to say it this way, this way he didn't have to be the one to tell the vaporeon. Once he'd finally run out of the energy to cry any longer, run out of the energy for worry or for thinking, he pulled himself out of his seat, shuffling into the living room. He sank into the couch, his eyes closing as he let himself drift in and out of sleep, his consciousness dancing between the world around him and the world inside him. What was he going to do? No choice seemed right.

Dendera Eboni,
This letter is coming to you from the desk of Muhammad Hosni Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic and Egyptian Head of State. I regret to inform you of this tragic news. The body of Amasis Eboni was found during a raid on the Muslim encampments. Being his son, you are the closest living relative so it is asked that you come to oversee the proceedings of his funeral. As a man I am sorry for your loss, as the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces I am sad to have lost such an asset to our dear country, but proud to have had such a soldier serve.

As tragic as this news is, I have more tragic news to give of our home country. The war continues on though you have finished 12 consecutive terms for your country. As the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces I have to implore you to serve for your country once more. Your knowledge of weaponry and defense would be of great help to our soldiers. You would be promoted to Sergeant for your faithful service and return of course. I will give you time to think over this offer but please respond to my offices at your earliest convenience.

The funeral will be held at --:-- on --/--/10 at -------------.

Sincerely,
Muhammad Hosni Mubarak
President of the Arab Republic, Head of State of Egypt, Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed forces

"WHO THE HELL DOES HE THINK HE IS!?" he suddenly shouted, causing the foreign language professor next to him to jump quite visibly at the sudden outburst. His breathing had calmed significantly while the man had been translating the letter, but his short fused temper shot through the roof as soon as he was able and done reading it. Silas grit his teeth, his face a little red from the amount of frustration and worry and everything else he was feeling that he was trying to pent up, his hands gripping the edge of the table roughly, his knuckles practically white. "Who the hell asks you to join the military in a letter saying something like that!?" he shouted to no one in particular, the table legs grating roughly against the old tile floor as he pushed it in some sort of attempt to vent out a fraction of what he was feeling, causing it to run into another table behind it rather loudly. "This is such bullshit.." he mumbled to himself, pausing briefly before swiping the letter roughly off of the table top and turning an unusually serious and deadly glare at the professor who had inched away from the exploding Vaporeon. "Give me a ride to my 'friend's' house," he started, his voice low and flat, "or I'll make your life such a living hell you'll wish you were actually in hell." All the professor could really do was nod. The man was obviously older, but after dealing with students and people for so long he'd grown to learn there were just certain lines you didn't cross, and certain times it was best not to object and use the usual 'campus protocol'.

_____________________________

The car ride wasn't too long, not with Silas yelling at the man almost every thirty seconds to drive faster in between his blunt direction giving. His mind was still going over the letter's contents when the car finally came to a stop in front of the Umbreon's house, and he wasted very little time getting out of the car and slamming the door behind him, not bothering to look or pay attention to the vehicle as it sped down the empty street. The Vaporeon scaled the path and steps quickly, pushing open the door roughly and kicking his shoes off in no particular direction. His eyes darted around, not seeing any sign of the man he was looking for, until he searched around a bit and found him sitting on the large couch with his eyes closed.

Silas just stared at him for what felt like the longest time, almost blankly, yet the mix of emotions was obvious in his eyes. He'd never dealt with something like this before, he didn't know how to 'properly' handle it. So, he decided to go with the only way that he did know how to handle things. Loudly. His hands soon balled into fists, his knuckles turning white again before he pulled his right arm back and threw a punch at the side of the man's face, his teeth gritted once again. He was sure he wouldn't miss this, very sure. The man was asleep from the looks of it, well, was before the punch, and no amount of experience could wake him before the Vaporeon could land a hit when they were in the states that they were in. His punches weren't nearly as hard as Dendera's, he knew it, but they still hurt when you weren't prepared for it.

"DENDERA! WAKE UP!" he yelled again, slamming a foot on the bottom edge of the couch, though it didn't budge much, if at all, just made a loud 'thud'. "This letter is bullshit! Who the hell invites anyone to join the damn military and pairs it with news like that!? I don't care if he's the damn president of Egypt or the queen fairy of timbucktwo, no one should use a death as a damn catalyst! And you better not be thinking of going or I'll kick your a**!" It wasn't an empty threat, he meant it, though being able to follow through with it was another matter, what with Dendera apparently being a long time soldier, which he learned of just moments ago.

Dendera had been sinking in and out of sleep while waiting on the inevitable. Silas would come back, he would be upset, he would want to know what Dendera was going to do. The umbreon wished he could answer that question, he wasn't even sure himself anymore. He'd been asked on numerous occasions by both the Egyptian military and the American military. His expertise was near unmatched, that he was confident in. But that didn't mean that he wanted to serve anymore. He had given his time to his country, and risked his life for four years in battle for her. Now he just wanted a normal life, he was happy wasn't he?

Yes, he had been. He had been living the life that he wanted, something that most people don't get the pleasure of doing. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, and had enough money to get by and provide for his hobbies. And more recently he had found a good friend in the stubborn vaporeon, and was really getting used to having him around. But still, that letter shook him to the core. Didn't he have an obligation? If not to his country, then to the man that raised him, made him who he was. It was an obligation to fight the good fight, in the man's place, in his good name.

The umbreon didn't want to go back, but did he have a choice? Would his sense of duty allow him to say no? As these thoughts raced he didn't notice the entrance of one very angry vaporeon. He didn't notice him until a fist landed roughly in his jaw. Dendera recoiled from the punch but quickly countered it, grasping hold of the man's wrists fast and firmly. He didn't admonish him or attempt to seek retribution for the punch that had slammed into his jaw. When he looked up at Silas he understood why he'd done it and couldn't be mad at him for it.

"President of the Arabic Republic..." Dendera corrected him in a hushed voice, unsure of what else to say. He didn't want to confirm that he was actually considering it, he really didn't want to. He knew how upset it would make the vaporeon, after all the umbreon had promised that he wasn't going anywhere, and now this was happening. "I'm sorry.." he said quietly, "I have to at least go to the funeral. He..." the words got caught in his throat and he held back the emotions that were on the brink of breaking loose. He supposed that the man was his father, for all intents and purposes. But the umbreon had always simply referred to him as 'My soldier...he was my soldier'. The thought was nearly heartbreaking with the knowledge of his death. He didn't want to be away from Silas anymore than Silas wanted to be away from him, but he had to go. He knew that he had to attend the funeral at the very least.

And then his anger was over taken once again, by something he couldn't give words to. He didn't regret hitting the Umbreon, in his mind, he figured the man needed a good punch, or something solid to stir him up a bit out of his funk, even if it didn't help as much as he might've wanted it to. If he needed something else Silas didn't know how to give it.
"Whatever.." he mumbled at the correction, taking a deep breath before exhaling slowly, repeating the process a couple times. It was something he'd learned to do after a while, something that forced him to calm down when he was getting too riled in crowded places, though it was only ever really affective when he actually felt he needed to calm down, and this seemed to be one of those times.

The Vaporeon didn't mind the hands on his wrists, oddly enough. He'd gotten used to it not too long after Dendera had made a habit out of it, and strangely..it seemed to help his own efforts of calming down, a fraction of that 'comfort' feeling he got from the Umbreon and his home soothing his ruffled fur a bit, so to speak.
"....fine," he started, eyes glancing off to the side once more, "then I'm going with you, to make sure you don't do anything stupid." Silas wouldn't admit it, couldn't yet even if he wanted to, but he had grown a little...one could call it being a form of 'protective' of the man, the one person he had once again allowed to get so close after his walls had been breeched. He didn't always show it how people would typically think of it being shown, his violent outburst at the man being a good example. It was the only way that he knew how to get anything emotional across when he was behaving 'normally', to act impulsively and send the message more bluntly than preferred. It was the only way he could show the most form of caring.

"Don't try to object," he began again, eyes glancing back over and narrowing a little at the man, "I will hide in your luggage if I have to." It probably sounded like a joke, but half the things that sounded that way that came out of the Vaporeon's mouth were meant seriously. He really would do what he said, if it came down to it. Other ideas of following the man came to mind, but if being a stowaway was the only option left, he'd do it. Silas was oddly determined to keep Dendera in his life, and alive.

Dendera's face did sting, he thought that it might bruise, then again it might not. The umbreon's body was becoming used to taking a hit, he wasn't one to bruise easy. But it did hurt, not enough to cripple the soldier, but enough to notice. He took it for what it was though, a sign the the vaporeon cared enough to make a fuss over him. He wanted to find the strength in himself to assure the man that he would stay by his side, that he would be ok, that everything would be ok. But at the moment, he couldn't even convince himself of it so it wouldn't sound convincing anyway. It was pointless to try to say something he didn't mean.

What the vaporeon did next was a surprise to the umbreon. Usually he wasn't surprised by the things that came from Silas, usually he knew what to expect from him. But honestly, he hadn't thought that the boy would drop everything and go to a country that he didn't know to be at a funeral for a man that he didn't know, even if it was to stay by Dendera's side. He seemed pretty determined too, and Dendera knew better than to think that he was joking at all.

It seemed that when Silas decided to do something, he was stubborn enough that you couldn't really stop him at least not without quite a good amount of effort. The umbreon thought about it for a few moments, his head dropping to look down at the couch cushions for those moments before lifting up to stare into those blue eyes again.

He'd decided to be selfish. Usually he was completely giving and protective and wouldn't put himself above others but right now, he was in a fragile state, and he could really use a friend. So he would let the man come along, even though it would be better for Silas to stay in his mind. He didn't really know if Silas was leaving behind obligations or not but either way, he'd made up his mind. He wouldn't protest to the man's company. He wanted him to be there and it was comforting to think that he would be.

"You don't have to ride in the luggage, unless you want to.." he joked quietly, a weak smile forcing its way onto his lips. That confusion and sadness was still there but he was trying so hard to be himself again. "I'll buy you a ticket." he said, still speaking in a soft tone. "I'm leaving tonight though, so you'll have to tie up any loose ends now and pack your things. If you really want to go.." he finished, trying to ready himself for packing again. He hated doing it, the sense of leaving things behind, and the knowledge of why he was doing it. But it had to be done.

"I'll pass if possible," he half joked back, raising an eyebrow briefly. Really, though, he was..pleased to at least see Dendera trying to be his usual self. Silas had never seen him so..defeated looking before, it was like he was dumped into some alternate world where the usually persistent and optimistic man was just the opposite of that. Beaten so much that he could barely function. It was a bit unsettling for the Vaporeon, and he found himself wanting to change it, to hear Dendera's 'annoying' remarks and attempts and popping his personal bubble, like he usually was. "It won't be a problem," he replied, going over a few things in his mind and sorting them out. 'The only thing I really need to do is pack, grab some money, and email all my professors. I can handle that quick enough,' he thought to himself, his mood back to it's calm and 'usual' self.

"I'll be back in an hour," he finally added in, tugging a little at his wrists and taking his foot off of the edge of the couch, walking back around it and back towards the door he left hanging open when he rushed in. "If I'm not back in an hour then come pick me up," he finished, sliding his shoes back on after collecting them from quite the distance away from each other, closing the door behind him after he exited the house to leave Dendera to his own packing.

The walk home was quick enough, he actually ran at least half the way, but he was starting to get exhausted from all the running he'd done earlier. The college wasn't exactly the closest building to the Umbreon's house, who's place was even farther away from his own has than the college. He'd definitely be sleeping for a bit on the plane, that was a given.

After finally reaching his house, he switched on his laptop just long enough to send emails to his three teachers, calling his trip an 'indefinite vacation', but that he'd be back in time for finals, which were fortunately a ways off. The Vaporeon quickly grabbed a bag from a closet and stuffed it full of spare clothes, a few bathroom items, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrush, toothbrush, things of that nature. The only extra things he decided to take with him were his dagger, an iPod, and some saved up money he kept stashed in his room, keeping it simple in case he needed to move around a lot at some point.

Silas bid a 'farewell' of sorts to his guitar, also writing a note and sticking on his door after it was closed and locked before heading downstairs and back out the front door again, not bothering to give any real word to the 'parents' that watched him leave. He started back down the street, deciding to walk the rest of the way this time, he was too exhausted from all the day's events to run anymore.

'An hour?' Dendera didn't bother to protest to the short time he had just been given to pack for his own trip as the vaporeon rushed out the door. He slumped back against the couch once more, looking up towards his ceiling as the thoughts began to swarm round his head like vultures. 'What would you want me to do?' he pondered, as though he could speak with the dead, unfortunately he didn't possess that skill.

After a moment, and no response from his passed caretaker, the umbreon peeled himself from the couch. Moping wouldn't get him anywhere, he assured himself in his attempts to motivate himself out of the funk that he was now in over the news. Besides, the blue haired male would be back within an hour expecting a trip. He made his way to his room, he was sure to pack a variety of clothing, knowing that the temperature of Egypt varied greatly from day to night time. He packed up his necessities, along with 'Hope' and 'Faith' and his license to transport them in and out of the country, along with his degree to validate it. He thought about packing up some video games, usually he did for trips. But he didn't think he would be in the mood to play them right now.

Besides, he could busy himself with showing his home land to his new companion. He had so many memories there, good and bad. It made his chest feel so heavy. It had been a while since he had left Egypt, he had mixed feelings about seeing her again. But it didn't matter, he was going be it a good thing or a bad thing.

He surprisingly finished his packing before the vaporeon could arrive, he'd even had time to get online and order tickets for the flight so that they would be waiting when they arrived. He tucked the laptop into it's laptop carry bag and slung it over his shoulder along with the other bags that he carried. It only took him one trip to load it all into the back of his car and then he got inside to head for Silas's home. He wasn't sure of all of what the vaporeon had to do before leaving, it was such short notice. Most people would ask for a day or two, at least a few hours. But his friend had thought one hour would be enough. Sure enough though it had been, because before he could get to the boys house he saw him walking down the road. The umbreon slowed to a stop, leaning across the vehicle to open the door for Silas. He didn't bother to greet him, it was hardly necessary.

Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, Silas traveled light. He wasn't one of many possessions, especially when traveling. His days in the gang more or less built him that way, since carrying a bunch of things on the move was always a great hindrance, sometimes even a way to get you killed. He only packed what he felt he needed and couple things he wanted, but never any more than that. It was all stuffed into one bag that he had slung over a shoulder, as well as a coat, which he brought mainly because fall was coming and you never know when you'd need a coat. They always became useful when you least expected them to. But realistically, Silas had no clue about Egypt's weather. About the only thing he knew of the place were pyramids, a few Egyptian gods from a history class he decided to stay for once or twice in middle school, and that it had a lot of sand. Beyond that, his knowledge was limited to what he knew about the Umbreon, which wasn't much. He never asked about the man's past, and the man never volunteered to tell. Today was the first time he'd learned that much about Dendera's history.

Soon enough, after only walking for about five minutes, he spotted the familiar black car, walking over as it slowed to a stop and the passenger door was pushed open. The Vaporeon leaned in and tossed his bag and coat into the back with Dendera's, taking a seat soon after and closing the door, fastening his seatbelt shortly after doing so. He didn't say anything, there wasn't much need to say anything and he didn't really have any questions, and most likely wouldn't ask them even if he did. Instead, he propped an elbow up next to the cool glass and rested the side of his head against his palm, letting his eyes stare out as the scenery went by.
'Somehow..I don't think I'll miss it too much,' he thought to himself, closing his eyes a little after a moment. But he wouldn't let himself sleep now, not until they were on the plane.

After arriving at the airport, Silas retrieved his bag and coat from the back seat, closing the door behind him once he exited the car. He slung his bag and coat back over his shoulder, following after Dendera into the building and the ticket counter. He'd been to a couple airports before when his parents were always moving around, but it'd been too long for him to remember anything specific aside from how crowded it tended to be. So, he merely followed along, through the airport, to their terminal, onto the plane, shoving his bag and coat into the top overhead compartment above their seats before sitting down into the cushioned chair. He was only glad it met the size requirements to go into the overhead compartment, he hated losing things during air travel.
