As you know from her appearance at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga has been attempting to reach out to the senate to abolish the US Military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, forbidding gay and lesbian service members to openly admit their sexual orientation. Because of this law, thousands of LGBT service members have been discharged regardless of their stellar servitude to their country and simply for their sexual orientations.
More to come; if our favorite news anchor Hanimonster adds in more I will edit it into this post.

Chuck Schumer's is supporting Gaga on this.
I hope all goes well. They've stood on a wall while we've slept safe just like the straight soldiers have.
Pretty much. Every time Gaga pops up in the media, you have a link covering it. 3nodding
haha awww thanks ya well, you posted the very important "dont ask dont tell" stuff up first... i was gonna put it up, but i felt like i needed to wait for this official video you found before me biggrin yayyy
But later, Gillibrand tweeted: @ladygaga Thx for calling. I couldn't agree more and am helping lead the fight to repeal DADT. Do you have a moment to talk later today?
Shortly afterward, Gillibrand tweeted again: "@ladygaga In addition to calling, please sign my petition to repeal #DADT here: http://repealdadt.com."
No tweets from Schumer, but it looks like he and Gaga hooked up (NO, not like that) later.
Gaga tweeted back: @ChuckSchumer@SenGillibrand Thankyou for responding, it means so much that you support us on this issue. Let's get this passed. Talk monday?

It's good to see someone using their fame (most followed person on twitter, most liked person on fb... who is alive) to help promote equality for all, and to get their fans involved in such a political movement! You don't see Justin Bieber or Britney Spears helping... only promoting their own stuff (love brit brit though)

This is why I love the miracle from hell that is GaGa. I have said it before, she is too nice for her own good. But that is not a bad thing, far from it actually. It is refreshing to see that in this day and age, peopel like Lady GaGa exist, and are doing what they can, using their power and influence to make a difference, and to try and make this painful world that much more pleasant and filled with music, love, and fun. I signed the petition, appreciates the links3nodding
I also have a link as well..... - http://www.popeater.com/2010/09/17/lady-gaga-dont-ask-dont-tell-dadt-sldn/
It has the video and all that stuff.....

Join Lady Gaga at DADT Rally in Portland, Maine 9/20
Posted by HausOfGaga on 9/19/2010 | Comments (2)
Lady Gaga & Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) will be holding a grassroots rally with young people near the University of Southern Maine campus on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 4:00pm ET, at Deering Oaks Park, Portland, ME, in a major Senate push to break the expected filibuster by Sen. John McCain of the National Defense Authorizations Act, to which repeal is included. The key U.S. Senate vote is scheduled for 2:15pm on Tuesday.
If you can't make the rally, tell your home state senators to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" by voting the week of September 20 in Washington, D.C.
Here’s the phone number to the Capitol switchboard – they’re staffed 24 hours a day: (202) 224-3121.
Need to know the name of your senator? Ask the operator and you’ll be transferred.
What to say while on the phone:
--Tell your senators to vote with Sen. Reid and Sen. Carl Levin in opposing the filibuster, defeat amendments to strike repeal, and defeat any crippling amendments.
--Senators should follow the lead of Sen. Carl Levin who will be managing the defense bill.
--It is critical that the vote on “final passage” takes place before senators leave for the election recess.
Call your senators now. Here’s the phone number to the Capitol switchboard – they’re staffed 24 hours a day: (202) 224-3121.
