So, what with the recent announcement I sent out, I have decided to open up a discussion thread along with a poll. Feel free to state your side of things, whether you agree or disagree.

I'll post my opinion here, because not everyone is in UG chat.
Personally, I don't mind either way. It may actually do the guild good. But it also may be temporary.
As a player in private (un-official) MMO servers, I'm familiar with something called 'wipe' (when they clean-out the servers and everyone starts from scratch). And always, at first there are many active players, but as time goes by, it still ends up in the state it was before the wipe and it becomes a closed circle.
My main point being - I don't mind it. But hopefully, it won't become that very same closed circle like I mentioned before.
Another thing is, like you said, many people have worked hard for where they are now. And just losing all of that would demotivate them, I think.
So if we are actually going with this idea, I at least suggest an in-character reason to go with it. F.e. some sort of danger in the old caverns, and they all had to move. Gods playing around with time, punishing the mortals. Etc. etc.

I believe a clean slate might help in jump starting the guild. At least for a little while. However Aglo I It may actually do the guild good. Brings up a good point. It could create a cycle of active, slowing, and cleaning. Active, slowing and cleaning. At the same time, the state of the guild at the moment seems rather the same. The guild has short spikes of activity, then lulls back into inactivity. This is a cycle we are already in...one that doesn't take any energy from the crew to maintain. If a newcomer is lucky they can catch these spikes, if they aren't so luck. Well, the join what appears to be an inactive guild and then leave. It tough to decide which cycle I want to put my hopes on, but right now I think a clean slate would be nice.

I'm with Aglo on this...the wipe wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as there was an IC explanation for it. I think some sort of natural disaster, a cave-in perhaps, would be a plausible scenario, and would also account for the disappearance of several inactive Houses in Ulorbbath...they got buried under several tons of rubble.

Well with my only active carachters in limbo (Au'shinduago is dead and apparently no one needs a haircut) i have no problems with this. Any continued activity from me would depend on how things go post-wipe. Here's hoping I can at least keep Iime around...

8 voters, but lacking some comments. If you vote on the poll, please state your reasons; otherwise, don't bother.

Sorry, Sere. neutral
I think it's a good idea because, like it was mentioned earlier, there have been old a** rps still struggling to make it.
A clean slate I think would be healthy. Like cutting off the dead ends of hair...allowing for it to grow.

I clean slate would actually be pretty nice, I would however like to keep my house, but purge it of my partner, who abandoned me like the last one.
My house rp has possibility, if only I had a loyal rp partner.
My only qualm is to warn us like a week before hand so I can back up my house.
^^ THanks guys.

You can re-establish houses if you want.
As for the natural disaster or whatever, I don't think that's necessary. That would just add more plot clutter.

that sounds nice. I'd like to rp in this new clean slate thing. Do you guys still hold by the 'post your rp characters to be approved before you use them in guild' rule?

Gabe Ragnarok that sounds nice. I'd like to rp in this new clean slate thing. Do you guys still hold by the 'post your rp characters to be approved before you use them in guild' rule? Aye, but now we require approval by two mods. We'd love to see you join in the RP!

I approve of this idea. It would give everyone a chance for a fresh start which I something I think the guild needs.

Definitely in favour - as well as the advantages of giving everyone a level playing field, and not having characters grandfathered into play, it'll give a good opportunity for various new ideas to come in.
