We can recommend books to one another here. I'll go first, and we can add books over time; whether they be spiritual, non-fiction, fiction or anywhere in between.

I picked this book up at a discount shop and am really glad to have found it:

Of Wolves and Men
Barry Holstun Lopez
ISBN: 0-684-163222-5

Giving a genealogy almost of the development of the modern wolf, as well as giving perspective on its place throughout history Of Wolves and Men gives insight into the human perspective on wolves and our relationship with them as well as providing a nice supply of facts and information about our lupine friends. I'd recommend it, but that's just me. Maybe you could look up further book reviews or something. Be sure and look for other suggestions from me. I have plenty, but I want to see if this thread turns out or if anyone's interested before I do so.

9. The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce

I LOVE the song of the lioness books!

A couple random suggestions from the bookworm

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause
Werewolf-human romance novel, but I think this one is a lot better then most and when they are in wolf form they actually act like wolves (mostly). If you have seen the movie forget it they totally ruined the book.

Anything by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (I especially like Demon in my view)
She is an amazing author for her age (her first book was published when she was 14) she wrote several books focusing on vampires and a series on rival shape shifting cultures (mostly snakes and birds but there is a wolf clan too)

Heir apparent by Vivian Vande Velde
The story of a girl that gets stuck in a video game she has to beat it or die. An entertaining quick (for me) read.

kgirl: I love that series too and I also love the Blood and Chocolate book~ Have you read her other book Silver Kiss?

For more info on any of these. Go to Borders.com or any other online site for bookstores or for your local library.

Promise of the Wolves: This is the first book of at least two (the second has yet to come out but will be soon). It is about a young wolf named Kaala. Her mother had mated with an outsider wolf which is taboo among the packs that live in Wide Valley.
Even worse is to associate one's self with humans and even the youngest pup knows of the consequences. It is a law that has been around since the packs of the wide valley have. However, Kaala ends up saving a human girl from drowning - not only turning her world upside down but completely affecting all of the packs around her.

The Host: This book is set in the future when humans have been invaded and completely taken over by aliens - and not your normal kind. These aliens are small but once they enter a human and fuse with the spine, brain, nerves, etc they have entire control over the body and mind – the human “disappearing” completely.
However, for one girl this isn’t the case. After running and hiding from the aliens, she was finally captured. Melanie has an alien implanted into her body, but finds that she still has her own thoughts and conscious. The alien in Melanie’s body is called Wanderer and in the beginning, the two don’t get along. Period. Both want control of the body and to live their lives as they wish. Soon, though, the pair get to know each other more and find that they soon have the same goal.

Darkest Powers: A trilogy of books on teens with supernatural powers. This book is focused around Chloe Saunders – a normal high school girl trying to find herself in life. Or so she thought. After a terrible day that makes her feel as if she’s insane, Chloe is removed from her normal school life and thrown into a home for “troubled” children. There are other kids there and she gets different impressions from each.
Then she begins to learn of powers and abilities and that there may be more to her new home’s plans than to just help children. Throughout these books, you follow her adventures – through the good, creepy, and bad – with those that she ends up banding together with.
This teen series written by Kelley Armstrong starts with the book The Summoning.

Immortals: Daine has grown up with a love and understanding of animals. After she’s forced to leave her home, the young girl learns that she actually has a rare gift that is called Wild Magic – and Daine can not only communicate with animals (verbally or mentally), but she can also make them obey her.
On her journey to get away from her home, Daine becomes the girl to watch the horses for the Queen’s Riders where she eventually meets the mage Numair. The pair become teacher to apprentice and so begins their journey.
This series consists of four books starting off with the book Wild Magic.

Stone Fox: A book from my childhood. This book is a fairly easy read and centered toward a younger crowd – although a person of any age can enjoy it. It is based off of a legend and was written in 1988 – so the writing may not appeal to some…
This book is focused on a young boy by the name of Willy who decides to take it upon himself to help his ailing grandfather and pay for his farm. The only way to do this is to beat the champion of the annual dogsled race – Stone Fox.
So Willy commences training for him and his only dog Searchlight so that they can win the big race. Will they be able to beat some of the best around and save the farm and Willy’s grandfather?

I loved her books. =3
I was actually interested more so in her shape-shifter ones than in her other works.

@ wolfpuppies
^^ I'm glad you mentioned The Host.
That one is actually my favorite story of all time. I mean, I read the Twilight series but I think she did far better in The Host.
And I also heard that S.M. wanted to make The Host the first book in a trilogy. 3nodding

In other newsss.
Hi, I'm new. =] I thought I'd start out here in the suggested reading thread, since I'm in my school's book club. ^^

I think other than The Host being one of my top favorite books, another great read for everyone to at least try would be Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. [[that's the whole title of one book, btw.]]
The story is told in the point of view of a 9 year old boy whose father was recently killed in the 9/11 attacks. As you read further into the story, the boy starts to ask serious questions and come up with some rather intelligent, and unique, ideas of how the world really should be.

I've heard that about the Host as well. I'm curious to see how things go with it if she chooses to do so. :3

Some more books...

The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
The Sight and Fell by David Clement Davies
Dreadful Sorry by Kathryn Reiss
To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker

I was super excited when I heard about that. =]
The article said she even had a name for the second book before she finished up The Host. She wanted to title it "The Soul", I believe.

To Catch A Pirate sounds interesting. 3nodding

Also for my book club, we're about to start reading Dracula. ^^

Tell me when they update the info on it. ;D

To Catch a Pirate is a good romance and pirate-y book. I checked it out from my library on a whim and ended up falling in love with it >w<

Tell me how Dracula ends up.

I'll be sure to do that. ;3

=o I love those kinds of books!
x3 the ones you find randomly, that is.

I'll be sure to add that to contribution list. 3nodding
As far as I know, it's similar to a diary entry book.

Oh I've read the first Night Angel Book and loved it! But here are some books I really liked.

1. Warriors series: Erin Hunter
2. House of Night series: P.C. & Kristin Cast
3.The dog with golden eyes. (It's about a wolf, I read it like five years ago so I don't remember the author.)
4. Seekers: Erin hunter
5. Summoning, Awakening, Reckoning. All one series. (can't remember the author...)
6. Call of the Wild and White Fang: Jack London

If I remember anymore I'll be sure to post it...
