I was looking up fruit shoots online, when a very suprising article came up. It said that a sweetner in fruit shoots can cause cancer (if drunk over a long period of time.) It also said that this sweetner was in lots of things like coke and other drinks. Do you think this is true? because i'm not sure.

Most sweeteners nowadays do.

It's actually a common sense, or a rule of thumb in today's current world, when you come something that tastes sweet; Don't buy (into) it. It's dangerous to your health.

Some examples..

High fructose corn syrup(HFCS): In all soda's and mostly everything else, this inexpensive sweetner is the leading cause of obesity in America. As once it enters the body your body is confused about how to treat it so treats it like a procrastinator with homework, sets it off to the side in fat cells for 'eventual' process.

Mono-sodium Glutamate(MSG): In alot of food products, not so much drinks or sauces, but is usually found when an item contains a chemists' list of ingredients. It's an excitotoxin, it doesn't actually have a taste in itself, that sends messages to the brain directly that what you are tasting is SWEET! It has been linked to many health issues and emerging diseases, mostly all linked with brain function.

Aspartame: In a select food and drink products, is the most commonly used worldwide processed sweetener. Which is why it's more likely you'll find it in foreign brands rather than American. Nicknamed the Sweet Death. It has been known to cause immediately health issues, seizures, along with a variety of other health concerns with prolonged use, and death(thus the nickname).

The dangers don't end there, but does get progressively less common.

No, it can be explained. All cancer is caused by your environment and what your body is exposed to. What you eat and drink is the biggest part of it all. Next is what you constantly touch (with your hands, your lips, your feet, your skin also what products your use on your body and what you breathe in. It's very explainable. This world is full of known toxins that can be avoided if you take steps to do so.

Cancer occurs naturally...however like Mae said, it can be influenced by your environment and what your exposed to. Sometimes however it is unavoidable due to your own genetic makeup (hence why some families are more likely to have it than others).
GMO foods and harmful toxic chemicals do not help at all, but the thing that sucks most about those products that can influence it are simply how addictive they are. I've gotten into arguements with family members over why they shouldn't drink diet pop and chew sugar free gum, yet they refuse to give them up.
Long story short, I can't blame the government/big pharma for "causing" cancer. but I can and do blame them for okay'ing products that can increase the risks of developing it.

Um wrong. You just haven't bothered to research what causes cancer. http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/CancerCauses/OtherCarcinogens/GeneralInformationaboutCarcinogens/known-and-probable-human-carcinogens the government and FDA know these things cause cancer and continue to allow them in products unlabeled.

As for the man you are talking about, I don't know anything about him but it sounds interesting smile

I also believe I read somewhere that cancer can be caused by Free Radicals.
