So i've been watching "The Exorcist" preview a lot because it's all over T.V. i don't know if people can be possessed or not. i've heard both sides of this (trust me, i've heard A LOT) and i truly don't know which to believe. i need some faith in this and some proof, maybe? honestly though, how can this be proven?
what do you guys think about "possessed" people? i want to hear your story/side.

There is no reason for you to not believe that people can be possessed.
Jesus cast demons out of people. The apostles cast demons out of people. Demon possession does happen. I have seen people before who have been demon possessed, one of them in person.
From what I know, there are three basic levels of demonic oppression. The first is simply oppression. Depression can often be linked to demonic oppression (though much of the psychological world is secular and, therefore, doesn't know how to properly treat depression). Other forms of oppression include hopelessness, feelings of worthlessness, and so on.
The next is demonic influence. Bursts of anger and rage for no reason. Hurting people, verbally or physically. Usually, demonic influence comes and goes. It is not a constant thing, and is usually linked with sin.
The final form is demonic possession. There are a variety of symptoms that can go along with this. A common one is convulsions and the inability to say things such as Jesus Christ or God the Father.
The most common form is probably demonic oppression, with demonic possession being the least common form. But it does happen. And I have seen somebody in person who was possessed by a demon. There are those who will try to explain it away as epilepsy (the convulsions), but epilepsy is just having seizures. In demonic possession, the person goes in and out of convulsions at times, and is very aggressive. Epilepsy is just seizures. There is no communication with people in epilepsy as there often is with demonic possession.
So it can't be epilepsy.
Living a life of deep sin can lead to demonic possession. Sinning can lead to demonic influence, and living in this world can lead to demonic oppression. Everyone gets oppressed by demons at some point or another. That's just the way it is.
Just remember that demonic stuff is NOTHING like what Hollywood makes it out to be. People don't walk around stabbing other people, nor do they throw up pea soup or scream LICK ME!

Scarlet_Teardrops Just remember that demonic stuff is NOTHING like what Hollywood makes it out to be. People don't walk around stabbing other people, nor do they throw up pea soup or scream LICK ME! lolwut? rofl The best answer I can give is that Jesus cast out demons in His time. In His ministry He removed a demon from a young boy and got rid of hundreds of demons in a man by relocating them into a flock of pigs. Possession is real. The Last Exorcism views demonic possession as "BWAHAHAHA IMMA STEALIN CONTROL OVER YOUR BODY BWAHAHA". It is not that at all.

the last quote was laughable. (= so i've been talking to my Missions teacher a lot about this and i completely understand what you're talking about but what if it had more to do with people and their sins, maybe their hallucinations?

While it is true that people can suffer from hallucinations and schizophrenia, demonic possession also occurs. Sometimes, demonic oppression and/or demonic possession can be directly linked with issues.
Also remember that sin can manifest itself because of the work of the enemy.
