Contest Rules

Since there was such a surge of interest in the thread, I've decided to open up a little mini-contest for Butterfly and Moth semi-customs, instead of just handing them out to whoever was fast enough/rich enough to request them in bribe threads and the like.

If you'd like to participate, all you have to do is fill out the form in the following post to make your request. Fill it out as completely and thoughtfully as you can!

A few notes, for the record:

  • Multiple people can make the same request/ask after the same butterfly or moth. I will probably choose only one of the requests, but I might end up making more than one kimeti per type/kind!

  • There is currently no end date for this 'contest'. I will not be choosing a certain number of winners at a certain time. I'm going to nab the ones that really call to me as they crop up, starting Saturday to give more people time to get them in.

  • Most of these kimeti will follow a similar style to the ones shown in the third post here. However, there is no guarantee that they'll fit the same mold! These are semis, so you can't be promised wing socks or masks or any of the other 'common' features I've included so far.

  • Since these were inspired by Lilwolfpard and endejester, they will likely be helping me choose winners.

  • You can enter only one time for only one kind of butterfly or moth, so make it good!

  • Yes, it's free!

Kimeti Name: Butterfly Grace
Number of Kimeti: 0
Kimeti Gender: Doe
Inspirational Image: [X] [X]
Why this moth/butterfly: I fell in love with this particular butterfly because it encompasses all of my favorite colors into one wispy little jewel. I picked this one also because it was the inspiration of my first B/C pet ever, Papillon. It was from the name I got the inspiration for how I would design her. When I was picking out the butterfly wings for her, the name also caught my eye because Papillon is french for Butterfly, and so the Paris Peacock seemed to be the perfect choice.
Additional Info: This butterfly is named the Paris Peacock. As for Grace, I haven't worked out her personality complete yet, but I know she will be a lady. A very classy, polite, dignified lady who rather die then commit a faux pas. But deep down she's a die hard romantic and hopes one day a big, strong buck will come and sweep her off her feet. I hope to pair her with a beautiful and lifetime mate and to have babies to pass around to my closest Gaia friends and also to start my own herd of these beautiful creatures.

Kimeti Name: Of Dark Wings
Number of Kimeti: 9
Kimeti Gender: Colorist Choice
Inspirational Image: 1 2 3
Why this moth/butterfly: I won this lovely just over two years ago and fell in love with this type of moth. I just loved how pretty just black and white can be. The markings are just beautiful as well.
Additional Info: This is a White Witch Moth. I think he or she would be a very curious one and love brightly colored kimeti (be attracted to them in a way).

Kimeti Name: Solar Flare
Number of Kimeti: 4
Kimeti Gender: Buck
Inspirational Image: 1 2 Madagascar
Why this moth/butterfly: Well, the first thing I saw about them is that the Madagascar species wings don't have any pigmentation. The other reason, is that it just looks so cool to me.
Additional Info: Its a Sunset Moth. He would be cheerful and happy buck. Always willing to help out, regardless of time or day.

Kimeti Name: Luminescent Rain
Number of Kimeti: None
Kimeti Gender: Doe
Inspirational Image: X, X
Why this moth/butterfly: I have a pair of earrings that are the hindwings of this butterfly, and I love the colors that show up on them. The green actually changes to a deep blue in certain lighting conditions, and I just thought a Kimeti modeled after this butterfly would be gorgeous.
Additional Info:
Butterfly's Name: Papilio lorquinianus; Sea Green Swallowtail
Personality of Kimeti: Gentle and a little flighty but very friendly.

Kimeti Name: Lost Alone
Number of Kimeti: 3
Kimeti Gender: Colorist's Choice
Inspirational Image: 123 Picture 3 are the female colors.
Why this moth/butterfly: I like the depth of the colors on the emperor moth. I like that it's a Big Damned Moth. It's also got the ability to sniff out a female from way far away and, I donno. That's just cool.
Additional Info: If you happen to choose this concept and put it on a buck, I think he will start a herd, due to the fact that his naming dream is basically telling him that strength lies in having kimeti surrounding him and building clan/kin ties. If you use the female and put them on a doe...I may custom/try to talk someone else into customing the male Emperor to bulk out that herd. /shameless

Kimeti Name: Painted Lady (if female) or Laughing Dawn (if male)
Number of Kimeti: 3
Kimeti Gender: Surprise me
Inspirational Image: Red Pierrot
1 2 3
Why this moth/butterfly: I've never seen it before and it really stood out when I was looking at butterfly pictures. It was a plus that no one else seems to have picked it yet.
Additional Info: I borrowed the female name from another type of other butterfly. I nearly picked that one on the name alone. If female her naming dream may be a warning against vanity. If male his dream may be a more joyous event, to be honest I haven't settled on an exact direction yet. I just know I haven't done a joyous naming dream yet.

Kimeti Name: Livebirth
Number of Kimeti: Oh god like a bunch, you know this
Kimeti Gender: Doe
Inspirational Image: The bottom one
Why this moth/butterfly: The Haetera piera is a transparent butterfly from the Amazon. No deep seated meaning in picking it, I just wanna see what you do with a clear-winged butterfly and this was the only one I could find that wasn't mostly pink or had very dark veins razz
Additional Info: Livebirth is totally going to be a botanist, travelling far and wide to collect rare specimens and delicately, with great pains, transporting them to a central garden which I believe she will have guarded by a pair of lynxes (or dogs if I ever get around to making dogs) which, if you end up making her, I will gladly supply myself. She will be doing this primarily for her own edification but I see her as QUITE the scientist and intellectual, constantly striving to find some way to preserve this knowledge for posterity--or in other words, given Matope society, passing it on via word of mouth. I think she will have some primitive conception of realistic art in that it relates to her goals to preserve knowledge.

Imagine her gardens! With little carefully marked stones with O or X to denote whether they are good or bad...

Kimeti Name: Quiet Contemplation (if female); Poetic Journey (if male)
Number of Kimeti: 1 (just recently!)
Kimeti Gender: CC
Inspirational Image: [x]; Google Image Search - Red Spotted Purple
Why this moth/butterfly: Purple has been my favorite color since I was a little girl - and very few butterflies are naturally purple so it's always drawn my eye. I simply love them... along with Blue Morpho's some of my faves! They have this simply wonderful rainbow like gradient.
Additional Info: They look dramatically different on the front of the wing than they do on the back - but I love both sides or any combination of both.

Kimeti Name: Dive Into Dusk
Number of Kimeti: One. :3
Kimeti Gender: Buck.
Inspirational Image: [Black-banded purple-winged butterfly] [x] [x]
Why this moth/butterfly: I was just looking up species of butterfly, and I stumbled across an online travel magazine that featured this particular species. I immediately fell in love with it, mostly because of the way the colors shift from blue to purple depending on how you look at it.
Additional Info: Dusk will be very serene, calm, collected, and a daydreamer. He'll be one of those bucks that always has this knowing look about him like he knows a secret, but won't tell exactly what it is. <3

Kimeti Name: Evening Moment (If Male) or Suns Waking (if female)
Number of Kimeti: 8
Kimeti Gender: Colorist's Choice
Inspirational Image: 1, 2, 3.
Why this moth/butterfly: I love Black and Red color combinations. They catch my eye, leave me smiling, and make me happy. The way the tail has red with black spots set into it make me think of peacock eyes, which fascinates me. This butterfly is just utterly gorgeous to me.
Additional Info: This is the Scarlet Mormon butterfly.
As a character, this one would be friendly but prone to being up at odd hours, dawn and dusk mostly, enjoying the times between night and day, fond of the colors of twilight.

Kimeti Name: Aquatic Serenity
Number of Kimeti: 0
Kimeti Gender: Doe
Inspirational Image: X X X
Why this moth/butterfly: The gradient blue and black makes me think of the ocean pictures you see of light coming through and shining upon the darkness.
Additional Info: This is the Blue Morpho Butterfly. For last few months, I've been seeing ones in my dream, and it really sticks in my mind. I remember telling my friends about it, and giving them the description of the butterfly, for I had no idea what it could be. When I saw pictures of it, I remember a smile coming to my lips, for it was probably the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

Kimeti Name: Summer Without Rain
Number of Kimeti: A dozen!
Kimeti Gender: Colorist's choice, though I referred to a 'her' in the write-up, just for convienence.
Inspirational Image: 1, 2, 3
Why this moth/butterfly: To be honest, I have an abundance of orange, brown, and green in my herd and I wanted some more color in it. I also really like the purple, blue, and (haha) orange on this butterfly. After googling 'purple butterfly' and coming across this, which isn't JUST purple, I found its markings really fascinating. Sort of iridescent, and an odd color scheme that differs wildly between the top and bottom wings. It reminds me of sunset, which is my favorite time of day. And also of bioluminescent deep-sea creatures, strangely enough.
Additional Info: The butterfly is the Red Spotted Purple, a variant of the White Admiral.

Summer Without Rain would have been born a fish if s/he'd had a say in things. Though born during one of the driest summers known to Matope, her underwater dream was full of cool water, moist sand and brilliantly-colored fish. Her favorite places in the swamp are those with an abundance of water, whether clear (her favorite) or choked with duckweed. On hot days she's up to her nose in it, and during rainstorms she's seeking the places with few trees to feel the downpour beat on her back. She's too active to let her love of water manifest as a longing if she can't find any; she simply roams around the swamp finding puddles and pools and eating the fish or shellfish she finds within them. On especially dry days and in the dry season, she carries around a small, smooth river-rock in her mouth, sucking on it to taste the waters it came from.

She's a bit whimsical; always positive, though sometimes her trains of thought are a little hard to follow since they're quite watery. Sometimes they tumble over little rocky patches in her mind, and other times they flow free. She always means well, though.
