...Or is the United States of America, or at least certain parts of it, kind of... how do I phrase this... becoming Anti-Islam?
Even the people who say they aren't Anti-islam, just Anti-Terrorist, seem to be to be kind of.... It's a slippery slope. My American friends who watch Fox News scare me.
Is this turning into something... that we should worry about?

Well, I would be a little bit worried. Many people think that most of the Islamists are the same like the terrorists and that's just stupid. Maybe it has something to do with the news but I don't know it because I'm from Europe and there aren't that many anti-Islam people. I think it's made up of prejudice. And it's bad to think that all the Islamists are like the terrorists.
Don't be too worried maybe it isn't that bad how it seems. But I really hope that the people don't start to dislike the Islam.

Pretty much crying
Even though I'd say a large chunk of Americans are scared of / strongly dislike Muslims, we still have freedoms which are denied in other places. Like, we can wear Hijab here, we can build Minarets on our Mosques, etc.
After living in America all my life, I've noticed that America has to have someone to hate. It was blacks, it was Asians, it was Indians, and right now they're on a Mexican and Muslim phase.
I'm not too worried, but if they ever get the wild idea to start to put all of us in Internment Camps like they did the Japanese....I dont know what I'll do guys. sweatdrop I expect you all to come break me out.

I know what you mean. The whole debate about building a Mosque has made it pretty clear that America hasn't grown as much as we thought since 9/11 when it comes to tolerance. Or actually, that's just exactly what it is: People tolerate Muslims. In general, they don't educate themselves. Or try to understand. Or accept. They tolerate.

i'm not gonna say that America is becoming anti-Islam, but unfortunately it is true that americans are becoming anti-Islam.
the problem lies in fear. sad what we need to do is push for enforcement of Civil Rights. Muslims are americans too, and the non-Muslim americans need to be reminded of that.
that's actualy why i beliee that the whole Mosque deal was stupid. i know they meant well, and i stand by their right to build it. but the fact of the matter is that to do so is not surprising to have caused this much aggrivation. anyone coulda see that coming! i figured the Muslims would be smart enough to realize this.

I think the main problem right now lies in the fact that only the most boisterous factions get heard. I don't really know any moderates who will stand up and say, "STFU, You have NO IDEA WTH you are talking about!!!" Yet that is what the extremists do on either side of the issue.
You have "Kill the Infidels" Islamic factions broadcasting be-headings and sending there children to die for the sake of Allah on the one hand (a very minute faction of those who claim Allah as God mind you).
On the other hand you have those who have never heard of Allah thinking that because the only people they have ever heard about worshiping Allah have been terrorists, then all people who worship Allah must be terrorists. So they scream "condemn them" for fear (Still a small fraction of the populace).
The only thing that is going to get public opinion to change is if people start taking a public stance on what they believe, and what they feel their religion does and does not require of them. Kind of a tricky line if you don't want to look like one of those religions who "push" for converts.

one Moderate has... a Dr. Howard Dean. but he called out mostly to try to get others Moderates and Rational-Minded people on either side to get together and Discuss the matter in hopes of reaching a Compromise. he wants to help each side to Understand eachother btter, which i think is novel, because it what the Muslims claimed to be reaching out for with this anyway.
though, one of the guys in charge of the Construction plans says that Dr. Dean wasn't helping by suggesting that, which makes me think that stubbornness will again get in the way. xp

Its not as easy as you think. At times, educating someone about Islam when they're obviously misguided is like talking to someone while putting their fingers in their ears saying "I CANT HEAR YOU!" I cant even get a word in edgewise with my sister. Who is not a Muslim and thinks the Crusades was a glory point in Christianity. People in Georgia dont care about any other religions, let alone Islam.

They watch Fox and believe Muslims are having babies to give birth to future terrorists and the mosque in Manhattan and Tennessee are bases to set off an attack. Not to mention it just so happens that EVERY little decision Obama makes, Sarah Palin and Bill O'Reily have to tag-team him and play the devil's advocate with some low-brain retarded propaganda. Atleast Pat Robertson isn't getting any news on the air about how gays are to blame for 9/11 and Haiti had the earthquake more than once because they were cursed by the devil. Not to mention we are a nation who believes we should have a single belief system advertised on our money, anthem, and guns.
That's America, it isn't anything new. It's just sad how people can believe such stupid things.
( Did I mention the only black republican had to say Obama started the war? You know how many Democrats AND Republicans got pissed at him? That's the stupidest thing you can say. )

Last night I couldn't sleep and ending up catching an episode of the Twilight Zone that really reminded me of what you said. The Monsters are Due on Maple Street- Part 1 The Monsters are Due on Maple Street- Part 2 The Monsters are Due on Maple Street- Part 3
Spoilers: We put so much energy into finding the monsters, and all we end up with is dead neighbors.
Also, if they start rounding people up in internment camps, I'll probably end up there with you, due to my fantastic talent for opening my big mouth at the dumbest times. Maybe you can find me, and we can play cards.

I haven't really noticed it. I know of people who are anti-Islam, but I haven't seen America as a whole moving in that direction. I suppose though, the same could be said about all religions, different parts of America are anti-Christian, anti-Jew, etc.

Lumanny the Space Jew My American friends who watch Fox News scare me. I know this isnt the point of this thread, but if your friends get their news from fox, then you should be scared for them. Fox is extremely baised. If you want the truth, (and i can't believe its come to this) you should watch the daily show.
