I've always though these "Mary Sue" tests were kind of nifty. The Writer's Mary Sue TestThe Original Fiction Mary Sue Litmus TestAnti-Mary Sue - A pretty neat explination to why these other Mary-Sue tests are null xd (hey, it's a good resources regardless..) A Newer MarySue TestI can't find any good "How to RP" guides (so if anyone finds/knows of one, POST IT, PLEASE) since they mostly pertain to D&D or how to make a character in regards to age & so on... and that wouldn't really pertain to Sailor Soldiers since it's fiction to the point of some of us being nearly immortal age-wise unless killed. I want to find something that will explain character interaction in RPs since a few have trouble with it (and I do at times too) since RPGs online with real people are different in a sense from story telling & RPGs with computers

Oh, no, not those litmus tests. I hate those. There are flaws within those tests that I don't like. They tend to be 'anti-description.' and often focus too much on plot points, not character traits. As a writer, I am offended by them, and not because my characters are Mary Sues.
Look up the "Anti Mary Sue Litmus Test," and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah, I could tell by the questions it's not that great. I answered for one of my characters and it gave me a completely inaccurate description of her. I'd like to see this Anti-Mary Sue thing, but I'm not likely to put too much stock into it, either. XD

I understand that. I'm even reading it right now, and so far am agreeing to what it says. I was taking the other tests as comparatives.

The page is out of date. The test she's criticizing can be found here, and many of the problems she brings have since been corrected.

Look up the "Anti Mary Sue Litmus Test," and you'll see what I mean. It's quite nit-picky in my opinion, though there's some I agree with regarding the age & name of the characters, because most of them are fantasy anyway. To me, it almost seems like the MarySue tests are just there to see if your character is just what you wished YOU were (which I think that in itself is retarded), super cliche & unoriginal (that's difficult enough comming up with something original..) OR too al-powerful & all knowing. It could either-or or, all. *shrugs* Maybe because I used to write a lot of stories (wish I had the money to publish some of them), but I see little problem with the Mary Sue tests. Regardless, I appreaciate what that person went through to show us otherwise. I see it more as a great resource to develop a good character. I posted the link on the main post, even though it's claimed to be outdated.

HououMinamino I certainly hope so, but I still believe that the points the page raises are valid, and some of the problem questions still exist. I think some of her criticisms miss the point. For example, many people give their characters gratuitous Japanese names because Japan is perceived as cool. On the other hand, an... oh, say, Afrikaans name wouldn't have the "cool" factor and so nobody would be using it as a badge of "I'm more awesome than you because I have a name that came from that awesome country of Japan."

I've done those before. I always score really high, because I made my characters for an rpg, so they are over-developed.
