A basket laid in a stand of tall grass, not so far from a river. The basket had been left here by the Kawani for the little foal to be left to come out in a quiet place. But sadly, the little Kirin would come out without their guidance.
Aurora, the foal within, wiggled, clearly too big for the basket she sat in. Her nose peaked out over the rim of the basket, and she sniffed, taking in so many different smells she would not otherwise smell inside her basket. Her wings itched to be stretched, but she found herself rather nervous to exit her once comfortable home. She blinked, and sniffed, leaning forward, until finally, with a small clatter, she came tumbling out of the wicker basket.

Kerberos sighed softly as he walked along. The territory was unfamiliar to him, but at least the beast he was forced to call his mother couldn't find him. His ears swiveled back and forth at each sound that was made by the creatures running around. It seemed they were running away from him, something he truly enjoyed.
His glowing red eyes darted back and forth as he stepped with ease on the grass, making sure he didn't make a sound. He was alone and wanted to keep it that way. At the sound of what seemed to be something falling against the ground, the stallion lifted a brow, wondering if it would be easy prey. Now would be a good time for a nice snack...

Aurora looked about, surrounded by green grass, and then looked up, her iridescent eyes meeting a pair of shockingly red ones. She blinked, her wings flapping ever-so-slightly. "D-Dada? Daddy?" She let out a nicker of fondness. Kerberos was the first thing she spotted when she had finally emerged from her little nest of a home. She stumbled slightly, struggling to stand for the first time, before she finally managed to get to her feet. She stared up at the dark Soquili with no fear upon her face. Why should she fear?
Little did she know that this Unikalona Wind was actually looking for a meal.

The sound of the young voice made Kerberos' ears flatten against his skull. This was not what he was looking for. He looked around for a brief moment. It seemed the filly was looking for its father. With a growl, he decided to ignore the filly, rather than aid in the search for her father. Oh she would make a nice snack... for a true kalona. Kerberos, however, didn't have the heart to kill the filly. Yes, he hated females, but not enough to kill a filly on the spot, right after she emerged from her basket.
His uni tail flicked back and forth as he snarled at the thing in front of him. He would leave it where he found it so its parents would come find it. Kerberos turned in the direction he was previously walking and began his search for food once again.

Aurora blinked, watching the black creature she was sure was her father retreat away. She let out a lament and stumbled after him, crying unhappily. "Da!" She squeaked, "Don't leave!" The foal continued after him, clearly intent on keeping up with the adult. She didn't want to be left alone, afraid of what could be lurking out here. But wasn't that the irony? She was afraid of being alone, and yet... not afraid of the dark Soquili.
She stumbled onward through the grass, every part of her wanting to explore, but also telling her not to leave her "father".

Kerberos froze in place when he finally put two and two together. This filly was assuming he was her father? A snarl appeared on his face, assuming he could scare the foal off, as he turned to face the filly. His long mane fell over his neck, telling by the numerous knots in it one could assume he didn't take care of it well.
His black ears flattened against his skull as he turned to face the filly and looked around. It seemed she had no parents. With a growl he shook his head. No! He would not allow this filly to follow him. He needed to find someone to leave the filly with and quickly before she got the impression he was her father. "I don't believe we are related, foal..."

The kirin filly stared at Kerberos. Not related? It must be a joke, she realized. They both had wings, they both had horns, and they were both of the same color! Silly daddy! She let out a nickering giggle, and looked at her "daddy" with a silly grin. "Da is silly!" She trotted toward him, and giggled again. She looked rather fearlessly at him, a smile on her snout, and not a lick of fear in her eyes.
Why would she have to fear him? She did not know of a reason to fear something, even though she was but a child.

Kerberos' eye twitched as the giggle and the foolish filly. He looked down at the filly and sighed before turning and walking off in the direction he was previously headed. Maybe if they kept walking, he would find someone to leave the filly with. It was still a shock that the filly wasn't afraid of him. The sharp fangs and the glowing eyes usually kept others away from him.
His black and white uni tail lashed back and forth as he trudged along. He looked back at the filly every now and then to see if she had found her true parents yet. Obviously, she was going to stick to him whether he liked it or not. "Hm..." He grunted softly as he looked for a place for him to hide in the shadows.

Aurora blinked and finally caught up to the dark Soquili. She looked up at him, staring at how he seemed to glow in the dark. "Daaa?" She squeaked, stumbling over a loose stone. Her ears flattened in an upset way before she ran ahead of Kerberos in a burst of childish speed, flapping her wings awkwardly, before she turned back to Kerberos. "Daaa! Daaa!" She was happy, her eyes alight.
This was what she wanted, now finally out of her cocoon of a basket.

Kerberos felt his ears flatten against his skull as he looked down at the filly that was terribly confused. At the odd way she seemed to go from upset to completely delighted made the stallion stare at her for a moment in confusion, then mumble something about how strange females were. "What?" He asked in a monotone voice down to the filly, assuming his name from her was going to be Daaa.
His head lowered as he walked along and he looked over to the filly. It seemed he was stuck with her now, there was no getting rid of her after he responded to her name for him, or that was what he assumed.

Aurora's whole face seem to lit from within when he responded to her. She smiled at him, trotting toward him...or rather stumbling. Though she looked like she should be graceful on her hooves, she was not in the least. She was a stumbling, bumbling little foal, with no sense of fear, or even what fear would mean. And here, here was her Daaa! She skipped through the grass, every few steps turning around to smile at him.
Now that she did not feel alone, she looked about curiously, her eyes looking around with utmost joy.

The large stallion watched as the filly seemed to glance back at him every few steps she took. He grumbled softly and walked slowly along. His heavy hooves now stamping agains the ground as he looked around. He was looking for quite a number of things at once: a place to rest, food, and this foal's parents or guardian.
His unicorn tail lashed back and forth as he lifted a brow and began to walk towards a dark forest. A dark smile curled on his maw as he looked over to the filly, thinking she would be too scared to follow him in the forest where he would find a place to live.

Aurora blinked as Kerberos began to move away from her toward a dark patch of forest. She felt her hide give an abrupt shiver. Of course some foals would be scared of the dark, having been cooped up in a little basket for most of their infant life. She stared at Kerberos' retreating, letting out a bleat of alarm as she lost sight of him. The foal took off after him, her heart a mighty drum in her chest.
When she entered the dark, she was a shaking mess. The light from above didn't penetrate the thick branches, and she found herself unable to spot Kerberos now. Bleating helplessly, she continued deeper, her eyes darting to and fro, hoping to spot him. "Daaaa!"

At the sound of the foal's frantic cry for help, Kerberos sighed softly and continued to look around. He would let her be scared for a moment, it would teach her not to go very far if she didn't want to be killed. When he found a dark cave, Kerberos nodded his head. It would be the perfect place to stay and keep the foal hidden from any possible skinwalker or kalona lurking about.
Kerberos lifted his head when she called out the nickname she gave him and sighed softly before walking slowly in the direction her small voice came from. When he saw the bit of rainbow dart past him, he smirked, somewhat enjoying the sight. Was that wrong? "Aurora... hush. You must learn to stay quiet out in the forest." Ker said in a somewhat harsh tone before turning back towards the cave to lead the young filly to their new home. There was no turning back now... he would be stuck with her.
