I have been a Vegetarian for 6+ years. And stopped eating cheese a year in half ago. Also recently have started the Vegan diet completely since Febuary/March. I had always wanted to be Vegan all that had me was milk chocolate but found alot of Vegan chocolate candy that is excellent!

But anyway enough about me!
This is about Lay's chips. I have not been eating them for about a year cause I heard somewhere they cook them in beef fat. I never found this wrong or right, I just completely stopped eating Lays.

I cannot find where I read that. I now only eat chips that are Vegan friendly Organic.

But I wanted to ask if anyone here has heard or heard of it? Do you think it's true? Do you stay away from Lay's for other reasons?

I've never heard about that so I don't know if it's true or not...
I do try to stay away from them because huge companies are nasty though.

Also, I think I heard somewhere they test on animals? Not sure if this is true either though.

I've never bothered to learn exactly how Lays chips are cooked, but considering how unhealthy many chips can be...it wouldn't surprise me. sweatdrop

In any case, I usually munch on corn chips. Paired with some good organic salsa, it's a yummy (and filling) snack.

I've never heard of that. I stopped eating Lays a long time ago just because of how greasy they were.

Hmmm. Well I am not sure if it is true. I just heard and ran to the hills to not eat their chips. Though if it isn't true I guess the good thing about not eating them is the greasy thing and they add a whole lot of salt.

Actually, if you look at the package, I remember it being a big deal, to be a bit healthier, Lay's switched to sunflower oil. So I think that beef fat thing is just a load of crap although it may have been true at some point, dunno

Hmmm maybe I should mail them or something. I dunno.
I mean I know some Lays chips are not at acceptable for Vegans or even some Vegetarians. I think I will send them a letter.

well, I'm not denying there isn't beef fat in one of their flavors, I'm just anything they aren't fried in beef fat

Did you sent them a letter, Painful Passion?

Most Lays chips aren't vegans friendly, I have just checked their official website... for the information on labels.

While this classic package is vegan friendly (if we can trust a company that also use animals). What strikes me is that and/or canola oil on the label.

Canola oil is one of the worst oils... Europe banned this oil being imported to their country since 1991, never approve this type of oil into their area legally... Why? because canola oil is heavily GMO food & poison, Canadians paid a lot $$$ (50,000,000 USA) to FDA to legalized this bad oil saying it is okay & healthy for human consumption while it isn't. Putting this industrial oil into our mouth are really insane. I once talked to a non-vegan about her choice of canola isn't healthy (didn't explain all these to her, just say canola oil isn't healthy, she can do her own research from internet), she flipped out terribly. Turned all aggressive on me.

Monsanto is a terrible organization... really terrible. Their goal is make money while depopulation for a "better" world...

Maybe this:
http://www.fritolay.com/our-snacks/lays-natural-sea-salt-thick-cut.html are somewhat safer... but only if we are willing to trust a company that cares about profits....

Yet... afterall, if we can don't mind fried chips & canola oil on label. Don't worry terribly much It's vegan (I guess) whee wink
