Zellie suggested doing camp, but doing a better job than Gaia did last year in the official summer event. I have been mulling it over, and I think I have in my head what I want this to look like, and that picture has lots of crew involvement! However, I don't want to put too much of a burden on anyone, so I've come up with some ways to make things as simple as possible.

Crew Cabins:
I really liked the idea of having each crew member hosting a room, so I came up with some ideas to help. Every crew member would be a camper just like everyone else, but crew members will each host a contest. I don't have an overabundance of gold, but I have a little to help with prizes. I have 100k gold that I can split between the people who do rooms. For example, if there are four crew members that decide to make rooms, each will be given 25k for prizes. Each crew member may supplement prizes with their own gold if they wish, but that is not mandatory.

Cabin Themes:
Each crew member will select a cabin, and make the game fit the theme of his or cabin. You will keep your cabin identity in the roleplay, but that's for later. Here are some suggestions for cabin names.
-The Nerd Cabin
-The Jock Cabin
-The Goth Cabin
-The Punk Cabin
-The Artist Cabin
-The Musician Cabin
-The Gamer Gabin
-The Cowboy Cabin
-The Prep Cabin
-The Otaku Cabin
-The "fill in any stereotype here" Cabin. rofl

The Games in the Cabins:
Each crew member will make a game room that corresponds with his or her cabin name. Be creative and funny! This is just a guild thing, so it's nothing overly serious. It's all in fun! Here are some suggestions:

-tektek contest
-random number game
-dice game
-writing and drawing contests
-word game different from the ones we already have in the games subform
-anything you can think of as long as you think it through

I will be doing a battle type game again as usual because that kind of game is always has a complicated and time-consuming scoring system.

Feel free to ask for help with your game. I ask my friends for their opinions all the time. I want to check your rooms before they are launched to make sure there aren't any problems that might make your room not function like you want it too. Trust me, it's easy to forget something important, so having someone (or preferable a few people) check what you've done is essential.

The Roleplay:
Someone may volunteer to lead the roleplay, or I can do it if no one wants to. This is not going to be anything complicated. Each crew member and guest will have their own camp stereotype to work with during the roleplay. They can choose a stereotype similar to their own, or they can choose one completely different and be really silly with it. Character profiles should only be one to two sentences, so everything will be in one thread. I was thinking of having something happen during their adventure like a random bear attack or something, but we can worry about plot later if we even want to have a set one.

Clear as mud? sweatdrop This is just kind of rough sketch of everything, but I hope that people are able to understand it okay. I would like anyone who is working a room to be able to commit at least 5 minutes per day to tallying scores, updating lists, etc. 5 minutes isn't too long, so don't get freaked out. If you can update scores and such more often, that's great but not required. Also, if there is some computer emergency, I can take over your responsibilities, so don't let the unknown keep you from having a great time!

I can also make banners for your rooms. whee

So, does everyone like my idea? Any changes? Who wants to volunteer to be a leader?

(Btw, please post all of your ideas in here so everyone will no what you're doing, so there won't be two identical rooms/campers/etc.)

As for the date, we will settle that when we get enough info, but I was thinking the 23rd-27th because people tend to get on Gaia more during the work week, and I want this to happen before August is over.

Great! biggrin You can pick any that you like. You can be nerdy like in real life, or you can try to get into some other stereotype character. It's just whatever you feel like doing for one week.

I'm glad that you volunteered. I want to have at least one other person run a room. Let's see what happens. I sent a PM to all of the crew members except for Green and Mira, because both of them have something really big going on in their personal lives, and they won't have time to be here much. Dew just had a baby, so I don't know if she will feel like doing something like this or not, but I hope she can. I also think that Li-Mei and Kierra might do something, but they aren't as regular as they used to be. I haven't seen Diablos around in a while, so I'm guessing that he isn't going to be running a room. Zellie might be interested in running the RP, but I haven't talked with her much recently, so I'm not sure about her schedule. But, all of these are just speculations, so I'll just wait and find out what happens. I think I'll send a courtesy PM to Green and Mira anyway, just to let them know what we're doing.

So, have you thought about what type of room you would like to do? I want to definitely have at least one random number/dice game and one tektek contest. You can run two rooms if you like. It would be nice to have a word game room that doesn't have any prizes tacked onto the list. And of course, I will be making banners for all of the rooms to make them look snazzy. whee

Don't worry. You wouldn't have to be in charge of the RP. You would just participate in character. The room thing is just for fun. I'm wondering if I am making this a bit confusing. sweatdrop Here is an example:

You are a camper from the nerd cabin, so you make a random number game with a really nerdy theme. One thing you could try is a science experiment game where you generate random numbers until you find a particular number or total that you are looking for to make a successful formula or something. Then, you would play the nerd in the RP, but the game would have nothing to do with the RP at all. The whole thing about connecting the room theme with the RP character theme is simply for consistency.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the "mods" of rooms to be counselors?

...I would be interested in running the rpg, but I've got an out of town wedding for the first day so I might be a little late in getting it off the ground.

...I would volunteer to have a theater/shakespeare room with a word game or something, as long as I can get it set up well in advance of my needing to leave town.

Well I've been thinking about it, and since I'll be doing the tektek contest, I figure the artists cabin would be the best fit 3nodding

I have a basic idea for the cabin layout, the contest theme of course would most likely be summer camp. Camp activities maybe to make it more specific? What do you think?
