Name: Diamanti Argyris
Nicknames: Dia
Approximate Age: 14
Date of Birth:

Prophet of: Selene, Greek Goddess of the Moon
Rank: Newbie

Occupation:

Personality: Dia, as she is often called, is a serene young girl. Rather shy, she often stammers when spoken to and prefers to stay quiet and be a listener in a conversation instead. If ever caught in the middle of a squabble, she prefers to resolve things in a peaceful way and would advise both sides to talk it over calmly. She dislikes seeing others resort to violence and thinks that it is not a right way to solve a problem and only results in bloodshed. She hates getting into trouble and would sooner avoid it than kick up a fuss.

The girl has a gentle and kind heart and cares for those close to her greatly, and will not hesitate to help a stranger, or even strays in need. Dia secretly uses part of her allowance to buy pet food to feed strays, and although she wishes she could bring some back home, she is terrified at the thought of what her parents would say as she has casually brought it up before and was shot down.

Likes:
Dislikes:

Powers:
  • Power One: Lunar Light- In darkness, Dia is able to hold moonlight in the palm of her hand and light her way.
  • Power Two: Steed of Aide- Dia can summon a winged horse to come to her aid.

Appearance:
Hair: Diamanti possesses long silky hair which reaches down to her waist. The most significant feature is the color of her hair; it varies between black and dark blue, with shimmers that resemble the stars in the night sky.
Eyes: Green
Face: Heart-shaped face
Body type: Diamanti is fair-skinned and relatively small built.

Fashion sense: Dia likes simple but decent clothing, and favors white blouses. She also likes vests to wear over her blouses, and prefers to wear skirts instead of jeans or shorts. The skirt she wears usually end just above the knee; they are not too short nor too long. As for footwear, Dia likes flats; she has been terrible at her attempts to try on heels, as she wasn't too sure how to walk in them and realized that they hurt her feet.
Accessories: Thin golden bangles on each wrist, and a ring on her right hand. Also, Dia has taken to wearing Selene's gift to her; a moonstone pendant on a silver chain.

The Goddess

Selene was the Titan goddess of the moon. She was depicted as a woman either riding side saddle on a horse or in a chariot drawn by a pair of winged steeds. Her lunar sphere or crescent was represented as either a crown set upon her head or as the fold of a raised, shining cloak. Sometimes she was said to drive a team of oxen and her lunar crescent was likened to the horns of a bull.

A number of other goddesses were also associated with the moon, however, only Selene was represented by the old Greek poets represented as the moon incarnate. Other Greek moon goddesses included Pasiphae, the Leukippides, Eileithyia, Hekate, Artemis, Bendis, and Hera (who sometimes doubled for Selene in the Endymion myth).

Selene, the moon goddess, is known for her countless love affairs. The most famous of her loves is the shepard Endymion. Other affairs of Selene's include involvement with Zeus with whom she had three daughters, and Pan who gave her a herd of white oxen. Some sources report that the Nemean lion, which fell to the earth from the moon was the result of an affair of Zeus and Selene. She was involved in many love affairs, however, not as many as her sister, Eos, the dawn.

She was not one of the twelve great gods on Olympus, however she is the moon goddess. After her brother Helios completes his journey across the sky, she begins hers. Before Selene's journey across the night sky she bathes in the sea.

Selene's parents are the Titan Hyperion, the sun god, and Theia, the sister of Helios. Some sources report that she is the daughter of the Titan Pallas, Helios, or Zeus. Helius, who is the sun god as well as his father Helios, is the brother of Selene. Eos, the dawn, who is known for her numerous love affairs is the sister of Selene.

The seduction of Endymion is the love affair that brings Selene the most fame. She fell in love with the shepard, Endymion, and seduced him while he lie sleeping in a cave. Some sources say Endymion was a king or a hunter, rather than a shepherd. Her seduction of Endymion resulted in the birth of fifty daughters, one of which was Naxos. Since Selene was so deeply in love with Endymion she asked Zeus to allow him to decide his own fate. Zeus granted Selene's request, and Endymion chose never to grow old and to sleep eternally. However, Endymion's eternal sleep did not prevent him from Selene giving birth to his daughters. Endymion was visited by Selene every night and kissed by her rays of light.

Selene is a favorite of many poets, especially love poets. A moonlit night brings the feeling of romance. It is said that Selene's moon rays fall upon sleeping mortals, and her kisses fell upon her love, Endymion.
