Day One had been a horrible failure. Yea, she’d met a cute boy… But like the saying went-- he had to be gay. Tepin was kind of worried about the game. Out of all the players that she had met, three fourths were gay. That was pretty sad, especially considering how the remaining person was a girl.
She didn’t have any luck! If she liked them, they must be gay. That was her new law of love.
Maybe Day Two of the manhunt would work better. She had found better fitting clothes, at least. Even if she was still dressed like a tomboy… Someone would have to notice her! She couldn’t stay single forever, right?
Something told her she wasn’t right at all.
Darnit! She hated this! She hated feeling like she shouldn’t even go home! She hated everything! She hated missing the affection she got from Vale, even. But she had brought this upon herself-- and now she had to live with the consequences.
So, Middling it was. The shops there would attract people… And maybe one of them would be single! Then, maybe someone could treat her to lunch. She was getting awfully hungry, and it wasn’t like she had any pocket money.
Stupid Vale! If he would just accept the truth, she could be at home eating, instead of standing outside of a furniture store looking like a weirdo!

It was only when she found herself wandering aimlessly about Middling, gazing at the shop windows somewhat vacantly, that Dia asked herself what exactly she was doing.
W-eeelll. For starters, she had been regularly checking Seasons, the shop Anubis told her she should go to. The...scorekeeper, he had said? She had liked him, strangely enough, and Dia wished she could see him again, though that wouldn't be possible. But who else could she ask? She had thought, while gazing at the closed door of the shop, wondering when the florist would return.
She had no such luck these few days and the girl had simply gave up, deciding to pass her spare time taking a stroll around. Her dark hair gathered up into a ponytail, swishing along as she walked. It was possible, judging from her blank stare as she drew herself into her own thoughts, that more people were noticing her than she did them.

Another one! No way!! Yesterday, she had met a godling just by hanging out in Middling. Today, the same? The girl was all too obvious, with her hair so… sparkly…. And the twitching in the back of the prophet’s mind was a dead giveaway in and of itself! Was this like… the Official Game Hangout or something? That just wasn’t smart, gathering all in one place when they had to kill one another!!
Oh… Wait. Shoot! Darnit! She regretted those thoughts the moment she remembered that she too was a Godling that was prone to standing in Middling. Stupid brain! Think of the facts first, the insults later!
But what were they all doing here?! It was like there was some strange force, summoning all the players to this area! There had to be some reason, some thing that made them come out of the woodworks. There was no way that they just all came to Middling of their own accord! (And certainly, they couldn’t all be looking for boyfriends, could they?)
She had to know. It would bug her and bug her and bug her to no end until she figured out just what it was that drove these Godlings to endanger themselves so openly! That was it-- she was going in.
“Hey, hey!!” This was so eerily familiar. Didn’t she just do the exact same thing to a godling the day before? “Wait! Missy! Hold on a sec, sparkly girl!”

Dia was fully aware of all the stares on her as usual, but she was still oh so horribly awkward with dealing with it. And it wasn't as if she would resort to cutting her hair and hiding it under a hat so that she could walk through the crowds, unnoticed. There were times when she had thought that perhaps she would be one of those invisible ones that no one really bothered with if not for her hair.
But then, she was terribly fond of it.
For a second, she hadn't registered that the shouts she dimly heard was aimed specifically at her, until the very mention of 'sparkly girl'. It was really quite obvious that she was who the shouter was referring to, and Dia halted in her steps, her face heating up slightly as she turned slowly to offer an awkward smile, turning up the corners of her mouth slightly. Her gaze regarding the other was somewhat surprised, hesitant and doubtful. She considered stammering out a question, but settled for simply waiting for an explanation as to why she was called.

She caught up pretty quickly-- her new legs seemed to move her much faster than the old ones, if only because of the added length.
“Hey, yea, uhm. Thanks?” It was so weird, how was she supposed to act? Of course Tepin was a godling, it was written all over her face (In bold black ink, no less), “For stopping. Or someth-- Look. Hi.”
It was nerve-wracking! So many Players around, and Tepin seemed to be the only one of them without any powers to speak of! Even her God hardly spoke with her. How was she supposed to compete? She was a normal girl, a sitting duck in a pack of sharks!
“Yea. Uhm. You’re a Player.” Yes, point the obvious out. That always worked well, “I’m a player, too, see? So, you gotta do me a favor! Please? Because this is going to drive me nuts.”
It was weird. Between today and the day before, Tepin had met two Players without having to fight them. The Game seemed too easy! No one seemed to even bother fighting one another, it was as if they were too occupied in their everyday lives to give a rat’s a** about The Game that dictated their lives.
“I promise I won’t hurt you, don’t worry. I just wanna know… Why are all these Players walking around here? What’s the big deal with this place?”

The girl merely smiled, dipping her head slightly as her hands fidgeted, her finger unconsciously reaching for the moonstone pendant that hung around her neck. Touching it helped her to calm her nerves. "Hello." She murmured softly, her blue eyes regarding the other curiously.
A Player. Oh, oh yes, the Game. A Player. Should she be afraid and run away? They were supposed to what...outwit each other, try to win the Game while making enemies...and alliances. Diamanti wasn't sure what to answer; she wasn't even sure what this favor was supposed to be.
Yet.
"I...don't really know." The girl admitted. Were there really so many Players about? Oh dear, she hadn't really noticed any, except for the occasional observation of someone with strange physical qualities. "Perhaps because the scorekeeper lives here?" Dia had always been hesitant of talking to strangers, but well, Players weren't really strangers and she had to learn to speak up. To participate in the Game. Selene had been nice and explained everything slowly for her to understand. All she had to do was to at least prove her worth of being chosen, starting with smaller steps.

“The scorekeeper!” There were scorekeepers? Wasn’t it just a battle royale for who could kill everyone else? If there were scorekeepers… Then maybe there were ways to forfeit! Maybe she could get out of this stupid Game, and go back to being normal. Then Valeriu wouldn’t treat her like she was radioactive, and leave the room whenever she popped up.
“Where does this scorekeeper live?” Ha! This was so sad! She was so much older than this girl, she had probably been in the game longer (Judging from their relative ages), and yet she had to ask her the most basic of questions! How did they learn this stuff, anyway? Was there some kind of Player’s Guidebook that got passed around to everyone but her?
Was that how it went? Everyone else got Gods that talked to them and gave them powers and taught them the rules, and Tepin was that one Godling that everyone just laughed at. She must just be there to make everyone else feel better. But if that was the case, Mixcoatl wouldn’t have made her grow. He had already apologized profusely for the trouble that had caused.
Crap! She was thinking too hard! She just had to focus! The task at hand was the Scorekeeper! She had to find the Scorekeeper!
“Can you show me where he lives?”

Judging from the girl's reaction, Dia doubted that she had been told about the scorekeeper. But why not? She wondered. Anubis had told her about Seasons, and she figured he would have shown the other Players the way too. How...strange. Or was she not supposed to tell the others about it and let them find out by themselves? But then, it wouldn't be fair, would it?
But was this Game even played fairly? Dia didn't know whether to trust her or not.
Still, she figured, it was just the scorekeeper. Nothing too secretively important she had to keep to herself. "The referee told me about her. She's at a florist called Seasons....well, at least she is supposed to be." She murmured the rest of her sentence, so softly that she doubted that the other girl would have heard.
"I could. But there's no one there." No one had been, so far.

The referee? Was the game this structured? All she had ever dealt with was a sketch guy trying to give her a knife. She had figured it was some Divine game, as soon as everyone else was dead, you’d be crowned the winner by a heavenly beam of light or something just as silly and unrealistic.
But if there were scorekeepers and referees, that meant it was more structured. There might be a way to get out.
“Where is she?”
Shoot! Her chance, her one chance! Was this the Gods’ idea of fun? Bait the stupid one with a chance of freedom, and then yank it away as soon as she wanted it?
“Look, I’m sorry. No one ever told me anything about this Game, and I’m just confused.”

"I don't know." The girl replied simply. Granted, she had gotten answers to her questions from Selene, but Anubis had told her she should go to the scorekeeper. Dia wondered if it was allowed for the scorekeeper to be absent in the Game for so long.
"No one told you?" She echoed, a puzzled expression forming on her face. Shouldn't the other have been approached by the referee as well?

She didn’t know? Crap.
“Shoot!”
Did that mean she wasn’t at her house? That was stupid! What if someone wanted to know the score?
“No one’s told me anything, really. I’m just floundering here.”
Should she be letting this information slip? What if this girl had some sort of super power? Tepin could be doomed! Just because the girl looked unassuming enough, didn’t mean she didn’t have some sort of crazy beam that she could whip out and use to blast her away!
“Why, is there some kind of hand out or meeting I was supposed to know about?”

"You never met the referee?" Dia narrowed her eyes at the taller girl, looking puzzled. "He's the one who told me I was in the Game." This sounded very strange indeed; how else did the girl know she was a Player?
"He just appeared, one day, well, night really." The girl murmured. "And gave me something to accept, like it was some kind of entry ticket into the Game."

“The scary guy?” She stopped, looking at the girl flatly in a stumped confusion. “Really tall--” Her arms darted up as if to prove her point, “--And dark--” The arms went down to her ears, tugging at them with a skeptical expression, “--With pointy ears?”
Oh, yea. She had met him. But hadn’t he been kinda…? Well. In any case, Tepin didn’t want to run into him again.
Body once more in a somewhat normal position, she looked on the girl as if she were the insane one. There was no way that it was that easy, right? You couldn’t just ask someone the rules, could you?
“Was he supposed to tell me about all of this?”
