↑ That's the title of the new Touhou manga, written by ZUN and drawn by Aya Azuma. It's being serialized in Chara☆Mel, and the first chapter came out today. Also, we get to see a new character: Kasen Ibara, an (amputee?) hermit. More info on the wiki: here and here. *rubs hands and patiently awaits for scans and translations*

are we sure she really only has one arm? i thought it was just that one arm was covered in a bunch of ribbons so it looked bandaged. maybe the "one armed" thing means she tries to only use one arm as part of some kind of training?

Concidering Okuu's third leg is an arm cannon and Kogasa has diffrent colored eyes to give the illusion of having one eye, I get the feeling ZUN tries to not make the girls too abnormal. She probably does have all limbs. I am very excited, I can't wait to get my hands on a translated copy. *reads up on hermits* Hmm, no wonder why I haven't really seen them around, they probably got eaten or dragged to hell. Think connections will be made with Rumia and/or Shikeiki?

There has been fanart up already and most look like the "Missing arm" is wrapped up in what i can guess is a ribbon. And i mean her entire arm.

Your logic is sound. Still, I think it'd be nice to see Touhou girls with some type of disability or defect. Of course, missing a whole arm or having an extra limb might be too extreme (after all, one of the reasons why ZUN "lolified" all types of youkai is to avoid having to draw them with the mostly ugly body traits they have in traditional Sino-Japanese lore), but I'd still like to see characters having things like blindness or deafness.

Yeah, seeing Nue as an actual Nue or Suika and Yuugi as actual Oni is...less than something I'd like to see.
I'm sure ZUN has his own reasons for not making a character with disabilities. Probably just because he doesn't feel like it, and in that case stop being so lazy.

I agree. I guess he focuses more on mental and psychological disabilities however. Though there is the occasional blind and those deaf to all but the song.
