The problem lies in that Okuu absorbed a Yatagarasu, which means she acquired Solar powers, or Nuclear Fusion.

Because of the amount of energy required to produce Nuclear Fusion, using that as the source of a nuclear weapon is not technically practical. The Nuclear Bombs used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were Nuclear Fission bombs.

They're, like, opposite, man.

AND THUS I PROVE OKUU'S INNOCENCE.

I disagree, but lots of people seem to think like you... especially template series advocators.

You're missing the point:

The fact that Okuu manipulates Nuclear Fusion is already within the reality of Gensokyo.

Humans outside know how regular Fusion works, but it is not efficient and controllable. It is, essentially, an impossible form of usable energy: Far more powerful than Fission, yet far less achievable by our current technology.

Hence why Cold Fusion was such a rage back in the 40's and 50's: It was the impossible dream, the process that could create cleaner, more efficient Nuclear energy.

But it was proven to be... Just not quite possible.

The fact that Okuu can control Nuclear Fusion to create various sizes of Solar Danmaku out of it probably means that she is indeed using a form of Cold Fusion.

And, because in the outside world, such things are impossible, they're certainly possible within Gensokyo.

People haven't learned that logic or science doesn't apply to Gensokyo residents.

There is logic AND science.

They're just different from the logic and science outside.

I mean, if you can build MISSILES, that means there is SCIENCE, even if it *is* magical science.

What doesn't apply is what we know as common sense. Things like "Ghosts don't exist", or "People can't fly", that's our common sense.

In Gensokyo, there is no common sense.

Magical science is an oxymoron. If we have the even bigger goddamn point (lol) in mind, magical science is just a silly term for a scientific process you can't even begin to try to understand.


Nay, there's as much common sense as here.

It's just that trying to understand a whole habitat-ecosystem —inhabited by more than ten different intelligent species, each with their own unique cultures and social codes— using a bunch of vague, contradictory sources is so impossible that the only way to provide a coherent, uniform explanation for it is to just dismiss some parts as "there's no ******** way to understand it and it will never make sense, just take it as it is lololol". (in example: the previously mentioned template series theory).

I consider such views to be more of a silly way of explaining it, designed to keep fanboys happy, than an acceptable way of viewing and comprehending the Touhouverse. The right thing to do is to accept we don't know enough about it yet and stop arguing until ZUN creates more canon that we can use as evidence. But then again, us all being hopeless addicted fans, I highly doubt we'll refrain ourselves from debating over unprovable points over and over again. xd
