This is a new fad in China, renting out white people to stand there and look important. Sometimes giving a speech and mingling. Sometimes just sitting in the window of a company doing nothing. Source Many Chinese businesses have figure out that if they have well dressed white people working for them/investing in them ((usually played by actors or models)) other people will want to invest and/or work with them. Quote: "The requirements for these jobs are simple. 1. Be white. 2. Do not speak any Chinese, or really speak at all, unless asked. 3. Pretend like you just got off of an airplane yesterday." Possible career option?

Um...that's just...wow. rofl
Too bad I'm not white, otherwise, I'd apply for that job in a heartbeat, even if I don't live in China. rofl Wonder how much white people would get paid for just...doing nothing?

Too bad I'm Vietnamese and not white. xD That sounds like a job I can do. I barely speak at all, so requirement #2 is a cinch for me. xD

I guess there is an an advantage to to sticking out like a sore thumb in a place full of Asian people. xd I think I'd be too embarrassed to take that job. White people are probably a prestige symbol in much of Asia I think. It means a company's "international". Why else would Japanese commercials have so many random Westerners? And that's not even counting the Western celebrities . It feels so weird whenever I see a commercial like that. The article was funny though. "Yeah, we have a lot of oil in Scotland."XD

Maybe I should do that... pay for my flights to Canada... I'm whiter than a conservative republican eating Wonder Bread in the middle of the blizzard in Antarctica... Yes...

I read about that. I'm jealous of the expats in China now!
White foreigners are used as "window dressing" here in Korea as well, but only to add legitimacy to English academies. An academy I worked for would hire under-qualified white foreigners over TEFL-certified Asian Americans/Canadians for that reason.
I really wish that would catch on here, though. I could use the extra money. ㅠㅠ

There are all these ones where a Japanese person on on a platform says the features of their product, and then it shifts to show a bunch of Westerners below clapping in awe. I guess it's another prestige thing.
