It was yet another day for the lazy and somewhat wounded Cheshire Delusion. The blue striped herla is still in quite a bandaged state from his previous encounters. The wound on his face that nearly killed him from infection is naught but a scar (and this fact irritated him quite a bit) due to the medical treatment he received. His sides a wrapped in some sort of cloth he found in the Dead City, as the silly grinning buck learned his lesson in not keeping wounds clean.

It's the middle of the summer and the best place for him to keep cool is the shady areas near the river. Cheshire's favorite place is lounging in a tree's branch about twenty paces from the bank of the river so that he may get a drink or spot prey coming to get a drink.

"Ahh... I love the summer. The perfect excuse to be lazy, if there ever was one." he says to himself, "I'm not but a few seconds from water and just patience away from food."

However, there was something eating at him. He knew exactly what it was. It was about the only thing that could get him down; being lonely. Often he would wonder why he seeks companionship when he is quite well off on his own, needing no other hart or hind for assistance in living. Well... Maybe perhaps when I forget to clean wounds... he thinks quietly to himself surveying the area, with his striped delta tail hanging like that of a vine from his perch.

Being too distracted in his own thought he didn't notice the other herla within visible range; Azul, of whom he'd had the pleasure of meeting a couple times previous. Cheshire liked her because she didn't run away when he frightened her (purposely or otherwise) and was always friendly, talkative, and kind. The fact that she could speak a language that he couldn't, for the most part, understand also intrigues him.

His tail now begins to flick around beneath his perch, hoping to have the pretty winged hind notice that he's in his usual perch, as the last time they met he was in the same tree.

Azul seemed to find herself more and more at the edge of a river bank; mainly becuase it reminded her of her own home. She was a delta after all. She was used to the heat and humidity and most of all; the water. Though this was nothing compared to the marshes and ocean she was used to... But she supposed it would do for now. Until she found the mate she was looking for and could go back home to her family.

So for now she would take what she could get. Fluttering her wings lightly she laid herself out onto the bank; and smiled as the scales of her body glistened in the sun light. It was nice and warm. When she feels too over heated she would simply walk into the shade offered by the trees. But for now it was nice to be able to sun like this and be lazy.

She closed her eyes when Chesh's tail began to flick; not catching the movement and therefore not noticing he was there at all. If she had known she'd missed seeing him like that she would have been extremely sorry for having been so rude. Then again he was the one that saw her; but didn't say anything so maybe not so much.

She honestly thought she was all alone; so she began to hum a low melody to herself. Just feeling the sun and the breeze; listening to herself and the nature around her. Until suddenly she decided maybe she'd like to sing the song instead of just humming it.

"dejalo si quieres continuar (hermano)
sal ilumina tu vida
todo el cielo aplatandote
dime que harés (intentalo)
ilumina ese amor
antes que se vaya"

She sighed when she was done singing those songs and just went on humming it to herself. A small sad frown crossing her lips as she did so. This song always brought up such sad memories.

((The song she's singing is Latin Simone by the Gorillaz))

Cheshire was slightly disappointed that he missed getting her attention his own way; all sneaky-like. "Hm... Why is she closing her eyes in such a beautiful day?" he wonders to himself. He thinks for a short moment then decides to go to her himself as his loneliness was particularly bad this day. Just before he gets up to drop out of the tree, Cheshire hears her singing from in the tree and his striped ears perk as he stops to listen.

Stopped in awe he says quietly, "Wow... I've never heard a singer like that before, nor a song quite in that style..."

Now he drops down from the tree with a soft thud and starts walking over to her slowly. He would normally be over there very quickly, but she has her eyes closed. He was asked nicely not to frighten her so he'll do his best not to on purpose and was fairly sure just standing in front of her when her eyes opened would be that.

Now trotting over to her, he sees the frown cross he lips. Slowing his trot he cocks his head slightly, wondering what brought on her sadness. He is not the only sad creature at the river today and he hoped he could cheer her up at least a little bit so... Time to be goofy!

He smiles thinking about maybe the small giggle this could get; he summons a cloud and taints it the same blue as his body then has it hover around his body, making him look like a fluffy sheep-herla with over-exaggerated fluff at that.

Azul opened her eyes slowly and lifted her head to see Cheshire there in front of her... all... fluffy. "Que?" Oh... She looked up at him and couldn't help but start to smile and laugh. "And I thought my hair was unruly."

She called to him lightly standing up on her feet and trotting the space between them to nose at him lightly before- "ooph." Going straight through him and falling into his body. Somehow her nose connected with his flank and oh god she was still falling. Pushing into him and possibly toppling over on top of him.

"Oh! Oh I'm sorry D;!" She said embarassedly scrambling to get up and to her feet and away from him so that they were no longer touching in a compromising sort of way. She stood looking away with a big blush on her face. She normally wasn't that clumsy.

"How embarassing." She said looking up at him now. But not quite able to look him in the eyes. Just right around his neck. >////_////<

Cheshire couldn't help but chuckle, then laugh, at her scrambling as he lay on the ground from her toppling him over. A small tint of blush shows on his face, but otherwise it would be impossible to tell if he were even slightly embarrassed by the whole ordeal.

"Hahaha, dear Azul," he says, "do not be sorry. It is my fault for making my disguise too perfect~" Cheshire stands up and notices her looking at his neck for whatever-odd reason and cranes his neck ninety degrees to look her in the eye again.

"Why, even when you're blushing you're pretty. That purple goes well on your cheeks." Tact. Cheshire hasn't an ounce of it.

"Now that we have greetings out of the way," continues the odd grinning hart, "How are you doing? You looked sad, so I thought I'd come over and help that! Also, I love your singing voice, even though I couldn't understand the words."

Azul looked at him with a curious and slightly confused expression on her face. Disguise? "You did that Cheshire?" She asked stepping back over to him though cautiously. Not wanting to have another incident like before. "How could you do something like that? Is it like... the eye thing you did the other day?" She asked shuddering at the memory of it becuase it had been slightly terrifying.

oh god did he just call her pretty O///////O "Oh... um... thank you." She said looking away from him now that he was meeting her eyes again. Pawing at the ground in a childish manner, a small bashful smile on her face.

Azul nodded her head. "I'm fine thank you. I was just thinking about a few things; a few old friends. Getting... nostalgic?" She finished not sure if that was the word for it. "It only sounded nice becuase it was in spanish." she said laughing. "The person that taught me that song was much better than I was." She told him nodding her head at it. "Oh! How are you today Cheshire?"

"Oh, I thought you knew?" he asked, "I can do many things. I can look like anything I want to, or nothing at all. If I have seen it, I can be it, or I can make it. Though it will all be hollow. If I look like a tree, I only look like one. I still have my shape and flesh and blood and all that. I would show you but you have asked me, ever so nicely I might add, not to frighten you." he finishes with a wide grin.

Grinning, Cheshire circles her as she is busy pawing at the ground. "You do not seem to have faith in yourself. You really should, you know. Not too much, though! Just enough to know it. I mean, your colors are nice. Two shades of blue (almost similar to mine!), some steaks of yellow, that mark on your eye, and mustn't forget those marvelous wings. Did you know some days I wish I had wings?" he asks.

Shaking off the cloudfluff, he returns to good old striped delta-herla-with-a-perma-grin Cheshire. Trying to meet her eyes again, he speaks, "Nostalgia... That can be great sometimes. Sometimes it makes me sad. Sad in a way it makes me long for days long past. Sometimes makes me wish I had done something different, done something I didn't, or not to do something I did. Oh well, it is past.

I am actually doing okay. Well, now I shall be better now that I have a nice hind to talk to! It was getting boring in my tree. Not many prey items have come to drink today but that is for the best. If I had eaten then I would probably have napped and missed you! Now that would be a pity." and he sits down, his collar with the same shape that's around his eyes dangling from it makes a slight ting sound as it meets another piece of metal on itself.

Azul tilted her head when he said that and stared at him with slight interest; a thought coming to her mind. He could look like anything he wanted to? She wondered if he could look like her first romance... that would have been nice. To be able to see him even if it was only an allusion. But she was fairly certain that Cheshire had never seen her Stuart. And so that idea was dashed away quickly though it was still a nice thought all the same. "Gracias Cheshire." She told him after adding that on. She wondered how many others he went around scaring. And really the thank you was a bit of an umbrella response. Since she wasn't used to compliments from others; well; at least not compliments like these.

She nodded her head sadly when he talked about nostalgia like that. That's how she felt at the moment. As if there was something she could have done or said differently. Tried a little harder; waited a little longer. But he was right; the past was the past and she needed to make up for those mistakes now in the present.

She smiled as he watched him sit down. "I think I would have been upset as well if you had missed me while I was here." She lowered herself slowly to her knees as well; fluttering her wings as she did so to readjust them gracefully. Her long tail swaying back and forth gently.

"Not that I didn't plan on spending most of my day here in the first place of course. But all the same it would have been upsetting to have not seen you all day." She told him with a slight nod her head. "It's not often I find such interesting conversation."

"Interesting conversation?" Cheshire asks quizzically, "I've mostly been complimenting you (rightfully so however) and talking about my ability! Well, I guess that would make interesting conversation. If you ever want to see something, I can probably do it. Like a nice serene beach scene! Though it'll still have river soundscapes. I haven't figured out how to do much more than throw my voice."

Cheshire pauses for a while and lets the silence take over as he looks over the river, the sounds of nature soothing him like how his mother's voice would when he was a fawn. All this talk of nostalgia makes him go back... But he shakes his head to snap himself out of it before a bad memory surfaces, his collar tinkling lightly as he does so.

The odd blue hart decides to scoot a bit closer to Azul, making naught a sound. "What about you? I know your name is Azul and you're delta clan, like me... And you like to sing! But the rest of you is a mystery. Do you have anything you want to share about yourself? Do you have something special that you can do like me? Or.." he trails off, realizing he's probably pried too far with his questions. After all, there's the possibility that she doesn't want to share.

PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 1:52 pm

Azul laughed lightly when he asked her that. True, that's all they had been talking about, but his powers were interesting. She'd never been able to meet a herla like him before. He was very very interesting. Especially when he could change while talking to her. "You'd be surprised at some of the boring conversations I've had to have lately." She told him adjusting herself a bit as they both just sort of laid there.

She nodded her head when he offered up his abilities for her entertainment. "No thank you Cheshire. I'm afraid the scenery in my head is clear enough for me. It would be the scents of it all that I miss the most..." And one herla specifically that would make it all so much better. She let a sigh slip past her lips as she closed her eyes picturing him in her head. He'd been such a string bean when she'd first known him; she wondered how tall he was now... if he'd put any weight on at all. He'd probably already started up a family. She wondered what he would think if she finally found him. would he even remember her?

When Cheshire began to talk again she opened her eyes to look at him and noticed he'd moved closer. She raised her eyebrows a bit; but that could have been becuase he was asking about her. "There's nothing particularly special about me. And my singing isn't as good compared to some. I am from the delta's; a part that's close to the swamp as well, we lived on the ocean side and in the marsh as well. I loved my herd. But there was a group of travelling musicians, and I loved a singer more...." She stopped to think about the first time she'd met him. Her girlfriends had dared her to go out and kiss him, and she had becuase she'd thought he looked handsome.

"But that was just a yearling crush." She said firmly. Becuase with each passing day, no matter how much she didn't want to believe it, she began to think more and more that her love would view it as just a passing thing. Almost like a summer love.

Both his ears perk and eyebrows raise when she begins talking about her crush. Studying her voice for a moment, Cheshire says, "You don't seem to view it as such. You think, no you believe this hart to be something really special to you. You're such a great hind that, you know what? I think you're still special to him too. No doubt at all. They say first loves are impossible to forget!" he finished, nodding twice in agreement with himself.

"So chin up, Azul!" he puffs his chest up and gives her an encouraging nudge with his head to her shoulder, "Don't give up on him. The moment you do, that's when he's lost."

Cheshire thinks to himself for a moment before blurting, "I've never had a love before. I don't know what it's like. I don't know the feelings or anything. I'm trying to find one, though. I'm well old enough to start a family of my own." He looks the smallest amount sad when saying this, staring downstream.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 02, 2010 5:29 pm

Azul let out a bit of a snuff of air in a laugh. She wasn't sure how to take that. He was being rather nice to her about the whole situation. And she's never heard of it that way to be honest. And it was a bit... well... rather encouraging. She nodded her head listening to what he had to say. "Thank you Cheshire." She said a small smile on her face at her renewed hope in the situation.

When He started talking about himself, and wanting to find a love she took a step into him and nosed at him gently around his collar, but still with enough distance between them to make it not something odd or intrusive. "I'm sure that special someone will come along? Sooner or later." She said almost certainly.

She really did beleive that. That was how her herd worked, you could always find your mate, there was someone out there for everyone it was just a matter of finding them. Azul herself had already found her perfect someone... But they had just been separated from one another.

Contemplating what Azul says for only a moment, he replies, "Oh I'm not worried about getting one or not. I know I will eventually. I'm just concerned with when, kind of. I've had my eye on a couple of does. I know one thinks I'm an idiot (which she may well be right in some respect) and the others are either taken or have shown no interest in a nutjob like me."

He grew silent and closed his eyes once she had nosed him. He had liked physical contact. It was actually something he had longed for. He hasn't had much since he found his way out of the swamp after being lost inside of it for a couple years. He may have matured rapidly in some ways from that experience, but he still has a lot of fawn-like emotions and needs pent up inside him from not having parents, the craving for physical touch one of them.

Sighing happily Cheshire continues, "I shouldn't be worried about how soon though. I've heard from my guardian that good things come with time. I suppose the longer I wait, the better the love shall be. He also said that flings are fun but... I think part of my insanity comes from him, suggesting things like that."

Cheshire shakes his head at his guardian's words before sinking onto his side to lay down a bit, looking at Azul upside-down with a sillier-than-normal grin* You look different from here. I like it. Can't quite put my hoof on what it is."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 07, 2010 7:26 pm

Azul nodded her head when he talked about what his guardian had told him. "Ci! ci! Good things come to those who wait!" She chirped back to him nodding her head and bumping him slightly with her own rump. But she stopped and gave a not so certain look when he mentioned flings. She shook her head there. "Flings to me... are not a good thing. Flings are... like saying to a potential mate that they couldn't wait for you. That they were going to go on with someone else until that one perfect someone came a long... if that makes sense." She said laughing lightly and lowering her head.

She shrugged her shoulders and smiled when he turned his head and looked up at her from an upside down sort of an angle. She let out a small laugh and pushed forward to head butt him slightly. "Tell me Cheshire. When you smile, is it real?" She asked still close to him.

Most of the time she got the impression that he wasn't really smiling. That it was just there on his face. Instead of a true emotion coming through.

"Aye," he answers in regards to flings again, "I know what you're getting it. I feel the same. To me, both parties need to try to be mates for life, not just one night, no? I know there are harts and hinds that think different, but I do not agree with them, not at all."

He blinks and lowers his ears back, almost hurt at the question about his smile but answers honestly anyway. "The smile on my face is one I cannot get rid of, unfortunately... My smile with you is genuine, Azul, you're special.

The way to tell is to listen to my voice or to look into my eyes. You can tell if I'm happy, sad, mad, or anything else just by the rest of my face. It's just something that you see and feel. I wish I could show something else with my mouth, but I can't. I'm unable to remember the last time I did anything but smile, if there ever was a time." the striped herla finishes before he settles to his least injured side on the ground.

Curiously Cheshire asks, "Why would I do anything but smile with you, though? You make me happy. You've been nothing but nice, kind, understanding, and tolerant. You're a great friend." He honestly thought that about her. She's never raised her voice or done anything negative to him. Azul had been tolerant of him and his "scary" moments and his slight madness.
