Iztheri grumbled under her breath as she eyed the stacks of unwashed beakers and potion bottles that had piled up in her lab. Then there was the pile of dirty linens in the corner of the room that were starting to stink. She sighed and ran a hand through her short hair. There was just too much to do in the hours she had for a day. It was as if the tasks just kept piling up day after day. There was no way she was going to get to everything without missing out on some much needed sleep.

It was time to find an assistant. Sure she could have bribed one of the few servants to help her with her work, but they'd more than likely go blab about what she did to the matron. She rather preferred her privacy. And if she was going to keep it, she'd need an assistant that would keep secrets as well as he or she could clean.

No..it had to be a she. A male would not work. He'd probably get the wrong idea and think that she'd be using him for an entirely different purpose. The idea made her cringe with disgust. It was strange, but ever since she had spent those glorious hours with the bounty Hunter Solmurs's she couldn't stand imagining any other male touching her. It rather scared her that she was beginning to think like this.

Iztheri sat down, wrote out an ad and then had a servant go out to have it copied a couple hundred times and have it posted up. Then with a sigh, she got to work on cleaning up the messy build up in her lab. Hopefully..someone that fit her standards would show up on the morrow and be ready to help her with her work. That wasn't too much to ask, was it?

When Pella's temporary work under Sbatavin was over, she had gladly moved on instead of pressing for a permanent position. A fresh city would do well for her, so she found herself traveling Undrek'thoz and looking for work yet again. The young healer's bags were lighter this trip. This time, every trace of her past life and past worship had been left behind. She felt a bit of guilt for the first few days. It wore on her until she saw that sign.

An ad. A healer needed an assistant! Here!

A smile glimmered on her face and she found herself forgetting the past. The far past, yes, and also the recent troubles with Sbatavin in Menzoberranzan. Here she could be someone new. Finally.

The ad was vague about how to report for the position. Vague for a newcomer like Pella at least.

"Oh, no problem," Pella huffed and struggled under the load of a large box for a noble female. She had played this role for Sbatavin, why not put it to use again. A few minutes of debasing herself and she was happily on her way with good information about the iv'Ress House.

Pellaneari took a deep breath and headed up to the House's entrance, with her ad in hand.

Iztheri was nearly finished with cleaning her beakers and potion jars when a soft knock came on her door. She nearly dropped the three beakers because of how slippery they had become. With a soft curse, she laid them on a clean towel to dry and made her way over to the door.

She was slightly surprised to find one of the house servants standing there with a rather tall female standing behind her. She eyed the female closely, noting the state of her dress and the dust that was covering her light purple clothing. The striking purple eyes caused her to pause but not that long.

"Thank you Dra'nari, you may go now. Please..come in." Iztheri told the other female as she opened the door a bit further and then went back into her lab to continue her work. "So then..you are here for the position I need filled? What are your credentials? And what do you know about plants?"

A servant greeted her at the door and she was led along the dark hallways. Pella took a deep breath. She was starting to feel her confidence get eaten away by nerves. But she knew better than to show it. When the door opened, Pella was pleased to see another female healer. And this one didn't strike that feeling of fear in her that her former Mistress had. The lab looked well equipped and cared for, if only a little messy.

"Yes, I am. My name is Pellaneari, I belong to no House. I worked under the healer Sbatavin of the Menzoberranzan House Ilxed."

Plants? Maybe all those chores for Sbatavin were going to pay off.

"I know a good deal about plants. Although I am no expert in how to use them all, I am comfortable with identifying them. Sbatavin left me in charge of her supplies."

Iztheri watched the other female as she entered the room. She definitely had a confidence, and her words mirrored her movements.
"Excellent, your knowledge will be most helpful. I mainly need someone to aid me with getting my supplies and keeping my lab clean while I am busy with patients or my magic studies. I'm not one for titles, so please call me Iztheri.

I can supply you with your own quarters, as well as two meals a day. I am willing to pay around 10 silver a week for wages. Is this acceptable?"

"Thank you for the offer, Iztheri, the arrangements sound like just what I was hoping to find." Pella was more than pleased to hear that a room would be provided. That was very good news for her in a strange city! Oh, she had learned the hard way that not knowing a city well when you go to pick your neighborhood could be dangerous.

Hearing Iztheri describe the position, Pella could not help but feel a little underwhelmed. More cleaning? That wasn't really what she was after. But that was alright for now. It sounded like she would have to be happy with observing.

"Do you think there will be any hands-on work at all, with patients or mixing anything up for you?" Pella fought the urge to call the lady by a title.

Iztheri turned to regard the female more closely at her last words. So..this Pella was an aspiring healer then? Interesting. At her introduction, Iztheri had thought her to be mainly an assistant, but if she had healing skills then that would come in very handy. If this Pella showed enough promise, Iztheri would be able to allow her to attend to the folks with less social standing that she had to deal with.

"I imagine that in time the occasion will arise that I have need of your healing skills. I will have to test your knowledge before I allow that though. If you're up for it of course," Iztheri said giving the other female a pointed look.

Iztheri figured that if the female was eager enough to do the hands-on work that she would do whatever tasks were demanded of her.

"My regrets, Lady-" She couldn't catch herself in time, "Iztheri, if I mistook the intent of the position at all. That sounds very generous of you." Pella smiled and ignored the other's glare. She couldn't falter now, "I have some experience, but my position with Sbatavin was similar- an assistant at first and only an apprentice when she felt like it."

Pella shrugged, not pushing the subject at all. She was delighted enough to have employment and housing! "I desire to be of service, whatever work that might mean you have for me."

Hopefully Iztheri didn't mind her curiosity- she certainly had a lot of it. Where was this all going to lead? Pella couldn't quite get her mind around this whole prospect of really moving into a House. She had never been this involved in a House because no matter how long she had stayed with Sbatavin, everyone knew she was an outsider that did not sleep within the House walls. And they certainly treated her as such, a threat and hired help both. Here.. things were going to be a little different.

Iztheri raised an eyebrow at the other's calling her a lady. She held back a hysterical laugh, surely if Pella knew what Iztheri did when she wasn't working at magic or healing she would never dream of calling her lady. In truth she rather hated that in her position she had to act like a lady when all she wanted to do was act like her real self. A wanton and sex driven whore.

Iztheri shook her head at the other's words and held up a hand. "The position's work load will change from day to day, so you may have more cleaning jobs one day and the next you may need to assist me in the healing arts, as well as errands. I should have worded the ad a bit better I suppose." She said more to herself.

"You should do nicely for what will be needed, and since you've already had some experience that will help me out more in the long run. You have some scribing talents I hope?" She asked.

Pella nodded, listening quietly this time. She perked up with a smile at Iztheri's question. Ah! So her persistence in pestering everyone she could to practice scribing would pay off.

"Yes, I've practiced it quite a bit. Not formally but I manage." Pellaneari was excited and she could only hope it wasn't starting to show too badly. She really had only seen a very small glimpse of her new home. Her new home! She could hardly believe the good turn of fortune, although something critical inside of the healer nagged her to be cautious.

"Are my quarters to be at the House, or am I staying in the city?"

Iztheri was delighted. She really had found a diamond in the rough with this young woman. She'd do perfectly for what she needed. And perhaps even surpass her expectations if all went well.

"Excellent, then you shall do wonderfully here." Iztheri replied, with a small smile. She fingered her hair for a moment looking around the still room to make sure everything was cleaned to her desire.

"You will be staying in the House of course, I can't have you living in the city, especially with the hours of work I have. Come, I'll show you where you'll be staying whilst you're here. If you stay longer..we'll have to upgrade your room later on."

Iztheri said with a wave of her hand, and quickly walked out of the room and leading Pella down the hallway.
She came to a stop about four doors down and then opened the door on the left, and peered in.

"Ah, its a bit dusty I'm afraid..and it looks like you'll be in need of some new bedding. Let me go grab a servant to see to this mess." She said with a frown and left Pella there to have a look at the room.

Pella explored her new home. Iztheri was not lying at all when she said the room was dusty. Pella held back a sneeze and wiped a finger over the desk. She traced a lazy trail to the edge as she walked, gazing at the mural high on the wall. Over the bed, some devote drow had left a dedication etched in colored stone to Lloth. Of course.

"The room looks great to me." Pella shrugged. It could be straightened up and cleaned a bit, but that was something she usually had to do herself.

The main portion of the room held her bed, desk and a large wardrobe. To the far right a curtain set apart her bathing area. It was roomy for what she was used to. Pella could only imagine that someone like Iztheri would find it small, but it was definitely an upgrade from living in that hovel of a hotel. Not even staring at a Lloth mural every day could upset her anymore.

Iztheri didn't even hear Pella's comment as she left the room. She was a bit frustrated that the servants hadn't followed her earlier instructions, and set out to find the two that had disregarded them.

She found the two of them chattering loudly in the kitchen over cups of tea. She frowned, and tapped her foot lightly, causing them to turn abruptly and jump up when they saw her there.

"Lady, is there anything we can do for you?" the elder asked bowing slightly to her.

"Did I not ask you to clean a room for my new assistant?" She asked, her eyes narrowing slightly at them.

"Not that I recall Lady Iztheri." the elder female replied looking a bit alarmed. "We'll go do it right now." With this said, both servants rushed from the room to see to the task.

Iztheri frowned, and thought back over what had happened, and cursed. "I am definitely working too hard if I can't recall what I have and haven't asked for." She murmured.

She considered taking a dose of the strong tea that the servants used to keep their wits sharp but decided against it. It had been too long since she had had a good sleep and figured it would be better not to ruin her schedule too much. The tea would probably keep her up for another ten hours if it was as strong as she remembered.

Iztheri plodded back to her assistant's quarters and looked in on the work that was being done. The servants were dusting ferociously, causing the dust to spin and float around the room like a miniature sand storm. The dust got in her eyes, and nose causing her to sneeze and wipe at her eyes.

"Augh!" She exclaimed, and dashed for her lab to wash all the dust out of her face.
