I'm not sure where else to put this thread, so I hope it's alright here.
I know in my school, the foreign language classes pick names in the language that they're learning. I've always liked names and such, so I was just wondering you folk's names in the language(s) that your learning and why you picked it. What other name would you want? Why? This thread is just a discussion for names in other languages.

Right now, I'm taking German and my German name is 'Wilhemina'. It's the femine form of William and also, it's very close to my grandmother's name.

I like the slavic languages but a lot of the slavic names don't necissarily strike my ears as pleasing gonk .
But Alex seems to be a very universal name so I'm in luck heart
And not to throw the topic off too much but, what's the WEIRDEST name you've ever heard? Surname, firstname, whatever.
For me it's Snedlditetikasi (Czech, "He ate the squash to the child").
And in Spanish class I wanted to be Pedro but they didn't let that happen. crying

Well, my name's Kellee. Meaning warrior/ defender. But I've had the nickname "K "[ Kay, if you will. ] since 2nd grade.
However, my last name in English means 'fierce warrior/ general: Navy.'
So, in German, warrior is Krieger. So many of my friends call me Krieger as well. o_o;

I've never had a different name... even in grade 4 in french class when we were 'translating our names to French' I was like "What's mine? What's mine?"
Jennifer.
In french? Jennifer.

I've always loved Asian names. They just sound nice.
I also like the name "Mashka" and "Zoya"
