But keep in mind that I'll probably apply for re-homing events. So, I won't pay a lot of attention to the fell essence and souls for the time being (I'll keep working on them, though). August 24th '10 // I'm still here, if anyone cares~ Got a little busy with preparing for the next school year, getting other personal things done and there's also a con next weekend~ <3
August 8th '10 // Added another essence. Just in case any of my other essences would not work out. However, roaring mist remains my favourite~
August 3rd, '10 // Alright, event's over and I had a lot of fun~ Made it to the final round (there were only two rounds. xD). I can tell how much more I have to improve but I'll work hard! The experience was nice and exciting, but now I can keep working on my Raevan concepts. <3
July 12th, '10 // Luka's re-homing event has started and I plan to join (hopefully I'll make the deadline @___@). However, I'm not giving up on the essences posted here. Since I just started LAB 305, I can't exactly say I'm 'active', which is something that counts during the event. xD;;
July 7th, '10 // Joined LAB 305 and set up this thread. I admired Raevans for quite a while and finally had the courage to join in myself. n.n Accepting crits as well! /gets ready for heavy criticism

Fel essence concepts Last update // August 8th, '10 │║█▌█ ▌█ ██▌▌██ ║│Roaring mist
This innocent clump of mist was just minding it's business by making things look a little more gloom and doom than usual when the Great Storm came upon it. A terrifying clap of thunder shook the leaves from the trees, but even as the Storm passed it seemed that its echo was captured within the mist. With every curl and roll of the creeping mist one can hear the rumble of a storm as if one were approaching. Sounds made within the mist are amplified instead of muffled as well and those who witness this mist seem to believe it's a lion in vapor form, rumbling and roaring across the earth. - Thanks Kitten for this great description!
Living fossil
(what's so special, what's the cause of the skeleton to move etc) (something about the storm enhancing earth/stone layers with all it's might)
Fossils are the preserved remains or traces of animals, plants, and other organisms from the remote past. As they are remains they show no longer signs of life. However, this fossil shows a different trait. This piece of rock from early Jurassic/late Cretaceous era, has a little ammonite fossil moving around on it. However, it seems the the little critter can not move off the rock.

Usually you can hear the sound of the sea when pressing a shell against your ear, but when listening to this particular shell you’ll hear raging thunder inside (the thunder of the magic storm). And if you were to look at the right time and angle, you might catch a flash of lightning from within.

They are in order of preference.
 Leopard tortoise
The Leopard tortoise is a large and attractively marked tortoise found throughout the savannas of Africa, from Sudan to the southern Cape. This chelonian is a grazing species of tortoise that favors semi-arid, thorny to grassland habitats, although some leopard tortoises have been found in rainier areas. They have a very attractive shell pattern. The shell pattern acts like camouflage in its natural home range. They also are sensitive to humidity. Cooler temps and a relative humidity above 70% can cause upper respiratory problems. The diet should be at least 70% grasses and hay. Not surprisingly, given its preference for grassland habitats the Leopard tortoise grazes, extensively upon mixed grasses weeds, and flowers. It also favors the fruit and pads of the prickly pear, succulents and thistles. "Meat" foods should never be given to Leopard tortoises because it can lead to excessive growth. They are more defensive than offensive, retracting feet and head into their shell for protection. They can also climb and go underwater for up to 10 minutes.
Perhaps the popularity of this animal is because it is associated with strength and immortality. In many cultures, people believe that the tortoise possess qualities that they associate with central themes of faith. The Chinese view the animal as a revered creature, and Native Americans believe that the tortoise supports the world, and that earthquakes are signs that the tortoise is moving.
 Lady beetle (lady bug or lady bird)
Coccinellids are small insects, ranging from 1 mm to 10 mm and are commonly yellow, orange, or scarlet with small black spots on their wing covers. A few species are considered pests in North America and Europe, but they are generally considered useful insects as many species feed on aphids or scale insects, which are pests in gardens, agricultural fields, orchards, and similar places.
The name "ladybird" originated in the Middle Ages when the insects were known as the "beetle of Our Lady" . They were named after The Virgin Mary, who in early religious paintings was often shown wearing a red cloak. The spots of the seven spot ladybird were said to symbolise seven joys and seven sorrows.
A common myth is that the number of spots on the insect's back indicates its age.
In parts of Northern Europe, tradition says that a persons wish is granted if a ladybird lands on them (this tradition lives on in North America, where children capture a ladybug, make a wish, and then "blow it away" back home to make the wish come true). Raevan concepts Last update // August 8th '10 │║█▌█ ▌█ ██▌▌██ ║│As I have two concepts of fel essences, I thought it would be nice to have two Raevan concepts as well.
Currently working on both their personalities. I'm mainly brainstorming and such. Don't expect too much of it yet.Name // Sight Gender // maleFel essence // Roaring mistSoul // Leopard tortoisePossible powers //
Conjuring mist // Sight has the ability to create mist (or fog) by either adding moisture to the air or dropping the air temperature around him. It will take form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets in the air. /will add more later + there has to be a limit
Amplifying sound // Sound waves, which are actually variations in air pressure, are converted by the he ossicles (a group of tiny bones in the middle ear) into a corresponding electrical voltage that varies in frequency and strength according to the 'pressure' of the sound vibrations. This 'audio amplifier' is used to strengthen or amplifying the sound. Finally, the amplified electrical signal is released from the Raevan's body through its vocal cords. Electrical energy is thereby converted into mechanical energy, setting up vibrations in the adjacent air once again. (not sure how much of this is correct.. )
There's a limit about how much sound the Raevan can amplify. He has to use his own energy to strengthen sound, therefor it will tire him after a while. (it should be especially tiring for a new born.)Feeding // Sight could be feeding off sound (waves). The type of sound would have effect on his own mood however, like auditory therapy. An additional way of feeding would be 'eating' mist. However, since mist doesn't always occur and creating it himself just to eat it would be useless.Hobbies // ---Personality // Cheerful, likes to occasionally startle people by a small roar. Loud, not specifically (?) verbally. Can't sit/stay still for a very long time. Slightly clumsy, tends to knock things over. The more she changes into stone the more physical strength it will cost her.
(Or perhaps petrify a part of her own body for protection?)
Spots // Not really a power, but whenever Sygun experiences a exceptional sorrowful or joyful moment, a black spot will appear on her back/wings just like one of a lady beetle (max of seven of each emotion). Feeding // Touching rocks/stones or being near them should refill her need of energy.Hobbies // Observing random/passing people from a high place. Personality // Quiet, but not afraid to socialize. Devoted/dedicated, faithful, lack of tact (?), cautious. Quirks // ---│║█▌█ ▌█ ██▌▌██ ║│

At 5’11, Koree is considered quite tall for a woman and usually stands at eye-level for most men. This eye-level is a pastel shade of blue accentuated with blue make-up and unnaturally white hair reaching her waist with ice blue tips, the bangs of which are parted from the left. Although Koree has standard clothing styles in her closet (H&M being the shop she visits often) she tends to dress in an extravagant style designed by herself. The eccentricity is nothing out of the ordinary for her though, video game designers are supposed to think big!PERSONALITY //
As with many game designers, Koree is creative and outgoing with a streak of modesty and an ability to face new experiences with an open manner. Koree is open towards others and tries to make others feel comfortable around her. Despite her kind personality she has limits on her hospitality like any other person.
You won’t find her declining new experiences (she once took part in an all-you-can-eat-competition). Nor will you find her jumping at extreme sports either, because of the time she fell down from a cliff. She had broken her collar bone and leg and couldn’t move around for six weeks (her worst nightmare ever).
Her gaming characters and outfits are often inspired by her life experiences being put in practice. She considers this a way of progress in life which brings her much joy as well. Her fascination for Rococo and Baroque influence her work along with those life experiences. For Koree, life without laughter is a day wasted and she can always be counted on for a good joke.
Patience is a virtue, especially for those in the gaming industry. Despite Koree's easy-going attitude and rare anger bursts, she sometimes find herself frustrated with the boredom of deadlines or the restrictions of working with a team. These frustrations also arise in her dislike for things that she feels are less important or interesting and she often rushes through them.
(Life doesn't just consist of pleasant things of course, but the quicker the dull ones are done, the quicker she can go back to enjoying herself.)HISTORY //
Growing up among loving parents and supportive brothers, Koree never considered her life difficult, but she did feel restrained by the stiff environment and so she felt like she needed to live away from home to live the life she wanted. Despite her parents wish for her to remain closer to home, Koree soon left to study abroad hoping her parents would one day support her more fully. Koree's adventures in America left her more mature and at the same time made her realize how important her family is to her. Koree returned home once she obtained a Masters in Graphic Design degree, specializing in game design.
Working in a large team, Koree is usually in charge of character design, something she often incorporates into her real-life fashion attire. Much to Koree's delight (and her team's as well), their video games sell well on the market. Koree spends most of her time working at the company, the place is designed to fit a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. And as long as plans for a new game aren’t taken out in the open, she's allowed to work at home as well (games are usually top secret after all)
Koree's biggest problem is her inability to stick to deadlines however, must to the distaste of her boss. Often she can be seen working overtime and begging for postponements, but when she's got free time she enjoys searching the city for inspiration and peace.

Welcome to Lab Remise! I'm Ravina, and I'm a staff member at the shop, and I seem to have a love of quest and critiquing so how about I handle this hmm? There's no need to worry about not being a native English speaker, the Lab's owner Kyou's first language is Cantonese and we all make mistakes at times. nwn
Even though you said you'd be mainly applying to rehoming events, I'm still gonna touch on everything you've placed down in the posts that follow.
Fel Essences: I'm going to tell you right now that none of the three things you have down that you came up with are Fel Essences. Essences are things found in nature, but don't naturally happen in nature; things like fire than doesn't go out, ice that never melts, and shadow that has no caster. 'Lingering memories' occur within everyone, 'Ticking Time/Passage of Time' happens as we all know, and your 'Peruvian Lily' is more soul-material than Essence material as it is just a flower. Please take a look at the gallery here as well as the first page of the shop for more information, as well as look at some of the quests in this sub-forum and the journals.
Also, for the three Essences you have down, you cannot use ex o ex Snoof's Beholder's Eye. The Essence has been written off as invalid because it contains a body part which are no-gos in Lab. As for my Agonizing Aloe, I'd prefer if you didn't use it because as staff I was hoping to maybe have it used in a future event. For Kuuro's Nebula, I'm sure you could PM her or ask her in shop when she's around.
Souls: I see nothing wrong with your souls. :3 As a matter of fact I like the diversity and different creatures you've chosen, as they're not very standard with what questers generally choose. Just remember that Raevan powers also come from the soul along with the Essence, so it doesn't hurt to maybe think up some possible power-related ideas from each one.
Guardian: I rather like your guardian! She's a normal woman and we need more 'average Joe' sort of characters as guardians so they don't hog the spotlight too much. The things that stick out to me are her occupation. You say she's studying to be a professor, but is she employed now? What job does she have? Owning a Raevan is like having a child and you need an income to be a provider for them as well as yourself. It's fine to keep the whole 'studying' thing up, but please list what she does to earn her living. Another thing that sticks out is what you have down for her outfit. I understand she makes her own clothing, but it seems a bit...Kingdom Hearts or Anime Con to me. D: It's not very major but it's just a rather odd thing to see when she seems rather normal over all and given the fact she's studying to be a college professor. Besides, she wouldn't be wearing the same clothes day in and day out right?! XD
What's more, I'd like to see a bit more to her personality. I think you might be going for the event entry word count, but I've only got a small image in my head to how she'd react to things. Also the lines "She find it hard to socialize sometimes. Especially when Koreë is faced with unpredictable situations." have me worried about how she'd interact at Lab and in the setting provided. Be warned that the shop is RP-intensive and your Guardian will play a large role in your Raevan's life and in the lives of others as well. She's going to have to socialize a lot with people of all different varieties and Raevans themselves are quite the 'unpredictable situation' at times as well. I'd be in your best interest if you could rethink those lines with what I've said in mind. Lab's about community and we want to see guardians out there and having a good time with their Raevan!
Over all, you're going to have to get rid of the Essences you have and research a bit more on them. Your souls are fine though remember to think on possible powers that could stem from them, and you guardian is rather fine as well save for the lack of a true occupation and those two lines I pointed out. I've also noticed I've never seen you in the shop itself, so feel free to drop in and strike up a conversation! We're all nice and always happy to see a new face. :3

About the essences, I could have seen that one coming. Actually, I was thinking they weren't valid as I was brushing my teeth last night. xD So, I removed them and put something else up. Though, those are just 'starting points', they not anything special to be a fel essence yet. n.n;;
As for ex o ex Snoof's and your essence, I removed them from my post as well, but you might want them to be removed of the list I got them from as well. n.n; I noticed the last update on that list dates back from august 2009.
Ah! About the souls or rather their potential powers, how should I interpret that? I don't really have a clear image of a power that could come from an animal actually. n.n; (or could a power be something like an amazing climbing ability for example?)
I totally need to add more information to my guardian yes. n.n; As I mentioned she's a revamped character, thus practically new. Best thing is to think things over carefully of course. Updating my guardian will have first priority.
As for clothing...That's something I can't help. I really like striking/different clothing. Most of my characters wear things like that, but I'll try to see if I can figure something out. I might even end up changing her occupation, since, as you mentioned, she has to take care of a Raevan.
It's true I never posted in the shop, unfortunately I lurk. OTL The thread's quite intimidating to be honest. And I already spotted so many great roleplayers here!

July 9th // Added new fel essence concepts (really like the roaring mist one), came up with a, yet incomplete Raevan concept (some feedback on possible powers would be loved) and changed somethings about my guardian. Not really satisfied with her yet, but I'll come up with more as time passes~

Hello Remise! Welcome to questing here at LAB. 8D I'm just glancing over things and here are just some things that I noticed. :]
Fel Essences
I would offer more information on each of them - especially the Roaring Mist since I don't know exactly what was affected? It's mostly just scientific facts that haven't necessarily been affected by the storm; so I would reveal exactly what has been changed, if possible. :]
The living fossil seems to be very interesting. Id like to hear more, much definitely. 8D I would choose a specific kind of animal if you want to have it show effects of life (such as choose a..uh...angelfish (this is just for example purposes) fossil and describe that?).
With your random ideas - there are some dawn/dusk essences so those might be complicated to work with. Also, for the Miasma, there's a quest using that as their quested essence ([x]) so that could be hard to work with without stepping on toes. ><
Soul
Those are some very interesting choices! The Raevans they could make would be intriguing, I'm sure. :]
Raevan Concept
Be very careful with possible powers of a Raevan. The powers need to be something that are inherently connected to the fel and soul, not adversely related, you know?
With that, the offensive ability seems to be a far stretch from essence and soul, but since I don't know exactly where you're taking Roaring Mist I can't offer much advice in that field.
The passive ability doesn't seem to connect as well. It says it cause upper respiratory problems and you have it regulating body temp? It might be better as an active power that he can enact on others to make their breathing harder. But you have to be very careful there to avoid god-modding.
For an idea about a defensive ability - he could have really, really tough skin? o3o
I didn't go over your Guardian since you said you were still working on her. 8]

Alright, put Orion's feedback to good use and edited both the fel essences and Raevan power.
I also added a second Raevan concept. Very incomplete though. Coming up with a power for this one is quite tricky. n.n;
