Action Driven One Shot

Alex looked across the eerily silent Time Square at Adrius, who was stripping himself of all of his Dark Artifacts. The contest had to be raw power against raw power, or the vicious cycle of resurrection would never end. Alex left his loose fitting jeans on, removing all else, including his socks and shoes. The young man walked towards his lifelong adversary with a smile on his face. The two men stood facing one another. Adrius' pitch black eyes and hair, paired with deathly white skin reminded Alex of a ghost. Alex smoothed his black hair out of his dark red eyes and smiled. "So, it ends tonight?" He asked the dark mutant, slipping his black leather gloves off finger by finger.

Adrius smiled, pointed teeth glinting in the fading twilight. "Indeed. One of us will fall, and the other will be free to shape everything as he wishes," the dark killer replied. Adrius slipped off his black, bladed gauntlets and smiled, slipping into a deep fighting stance. "Let's do away with the formalities. We don't want to keep everyone waiting."

Alex nodded, throwing a surprise punch at Adrius. Adrius leaped back, only to be barraged by a stream of blue fire. Adrius conjured a solid wall from the shadow of a mailbox, sweating from the intensity of the heat. Adrius kicked the wall, sending it flying at Alex. Alex quickly formed a ball of swirling electricity in his hand, a combination of the Chidori and the Rasengan he had created himself. As the wall approached, Alex took one step forward while thrusting the energy ball into the wall. A massive explosion shot forward, shattering the wall and scorching Adrius' arms. The dark mutant cursed and swung his arms low, then thrust them forward violently.

Adrius' shadow shot forward and up, forming a line of sharp spikes aimed at Alex. Alex shot a burst of fire at the spikes, eliminating the sharp tips but not stopping the attack in full. A blunt spike slammed into Alex's chest, sending him flying through the window of a nearby electronics store. Alex stood up slowly, feeling a sharp sting from his arm. He looked down and spied a shard of glass sticking out of his forearm. "Well that's just sad. The first wound in the fight comes from a damned window," Alex mumbled as he ripped the shard out. He cauterized the wound and looked out the shattered window. Adrius was not standing where Alex had left him.

"You can't hide from me. With nobody in the city, I can level it as I like!" Alex shouted, breathing in deeply as he drew in energy, channeling it into the tips of his fingers. Alex shifted into a deep stance as he pointed his fingers out the window. Small forks of red lightning spread across the square, erupting into violent explosions as they collided with buildings and a few gas lines. Seven blocks of New York city were wiped out of existence, reduced to ash and cinders. Adrius stumbled out of the shadows of one of the piles holding his scorched right side.

"A nice little burn, to be certain, but it's nearly nightfall. I'm going to end this, and there's nothing you can do to sway fate in your favor!" Adrius shouted, rising his black covered hands above his head. Tendrils of darkness and shadow grew out of the ground and began snaking over Adrius' arms and legs. The dark mutant smiled maniacally, and let out a laugh to match it.

Alex spread his arms wide, electricity shooting out of exposed wires and several street lamps around them.
