I have two friends who are my nearest and dearest, who I have been extremely close to for a good number of years. Now, my friends say they hate Twilight and Stephenie Meyer and all things related to both. We are all fans of Harry Potter, Avatar: TLA, and other things we find cool and well written and exciting.
The other day my one friend requests that I and my other friend join her in seeing Eclipse. At first I am extremely against it (let's go see Toy Story 3 or The Last Airbender, I say), but my friend is adamant on seeing Eclipse to glimpse Taylor Lautner's hot body (she is obsessed with the boy, but I honestly don't blame her. Though he may play a character in an awful series of movies, he is good looking), make fun of the movie, see the HP&tDH trailer and to see each other. At first I thought these were all good reasons.
Then I thought about it. She could look Taylor Lautner up online and stare at an image all day. We have all already seen the trailer for Deathly Hallows on Youtube. We could see each other by going to see a decent movie together. And, honestly, I'm not willing to pay that money to make fun of a movie I do NOT want to see.
And then I began to wonder: Are my friends closet fans of Twilight?! Impossible, surely. But then I think about it some more and it does make some sense. But are my friends just lying when I'm around, claiming that they hate a series that they actually obsess over when I'm in the other room?
I've decided I'm not going, seeing as how I need my money to see The Last Airbender and Toy Story 3 (and to buy many other things like toothpaste and shoes). But what do I do with my friends? Do I let them continue to be posers, even though it really doesn't make me extremely upset that they like it, or do I have an intervention?
