hello fellow members.
well we know there is a lot of changes going on in gaia. they are changing booty grab to try and regulate the economy.

i am proposing that we as a group dress down. put away our sparkling items and go with the gold shop. enough with chasing after million dollar rig items. so for a while lets see how we can totally rock the gold shop items!

I love this idea! In fact, I love it so much I reworked my avi!!! Got rid of all the premium items I had on it (which was damn near EVERYTHING) and redid it with all gold shop items. And I was able to keep that bad girl look!
So I challenge EVERYONE to go out there and rework their favorite designer looks with just stuff from the gold shop! It could be like those fashion mag make overs where they replace the expensive designer stuff with cheaper knock offs.
Hey.... Maybe we could turn this into a contest - who can make the best knockoff of their favorite designer avi?? We could post a tektek of the expensive one and wear the knock off til judging is over. Oh, and the knock off avi has to be ALL GOLD SHOP ITEMS....What do ya'll think?

hey that is fantastic!
i did the same. it is sad how up scale we get. i put all the premium items into my storage so i will not slip. my inventory is way down! it was sad putting away some of it but....
now i have to be creative with my cloths. also if i want to buy something it is cheaper. i was tekteking some outfits and they were not in the millions!

I like the idea, even though I honestly don't care all to passionately about gaia's economy compared to how much I care for making pwetty tekteks ^^;

I better get my butt over to my main and work her out somehow - although I'm in the same seat as Mysti...

Maybe we should call an announcement over this and see if we can get some attention to it?

Is this good? I's far from all gold shop, but it's freebies and zomg items which ought to be almost as good. Gaia doesn't yet have enough rugged and ragged items of quality in the shop but if only I could find a good petition for the cause that might change some day ._.'

as long as it is not sparkling in your inventory it is all good. ZOMG items, holiday items and rewards are non sparkling items.
i am not saying give them up forever but lets pause to dress down.
personally i am think about trying a lot of beach/summer things. i am finding this to be a good challenge. an announcement might be good.

OK, JD, I totally get what you are saying! It's just a game/chat site, right? Well, we wouldn't have to talk about the "gaian economy" if Gaia didn't insist that there be one!! As it stands, Gaia likes to act like its a socialist state - everyone is equal and everyone gets what everyone wants and its all friendly and blah blah blahblahblah...
Here we have proof that socialism works on paper, but not beyond that. As long as humans are involved there will be ugly words like greed and the like. And Gaia feeds this with their RIGS. Couldn't possibly release one friggin rig where there are no rare items. Or better yet, release a rig where the "rare item" is so friggin ugly and useless that no one will want it anyway!!!
It does seem they are trying to get better stuff in the gold shops and thats wonderful! YaY! But the rigs are still being released and the prices on the good stuff from the rigs is still exorbient. I'm sooooooooo tired of it. So I'm dressing simple, but hey - I do simple sexy so take that Gaia!
And YES I am still bitter about pale marionette! LoL
So lets do this - lets dress down and have some fun! Relax and flip the bird at the Gaian Economy. I LOVE the idea of our own little Guild Tektek contest!!!

Oh no, I can't watch this discussion without saying a few words in defence here.

First of all, it's an economy because there's a currency that individuals can use to get something (items) from other individuals. Thus there's a flow in the currency that mimics that of the economy outside the net in it's logic. Just like in any economy, action leads to consequences.

I can't for my life see how this is a socialistic problem dear. If gaia had removed the marketplace and decided a set price for the items then it would perhaps been a communist problem, but that's hardly the case is it?

Rather, this is a problem spinning from the open marketplace and so called gold fountains that has spewed out gold in such masses that the value of items that doesn't have set prises have both reached and passes that of ridicule.

The matter of equality is one I though every democracy - including the states! - were fond of, but maybe I am wrong. However, I see not how equality between individuals have anything with all of this to do except the lack of equality that gaia is showing since members outside the states gets notably less of the experience than members inside the states.

Please explain your thought further because it seems like I have missed something in your reasoning dear.

On a completely unrelated note, I am considering to postpone the ball event since the spirit doesn't really seems to be here - not even in me XP It just seems to hot for heavy gowns...

Instead, I'm leaving the prices with the guild mule for now and empty the event forum - the content will be posted in the test forum for storage until a better moment :]

Ahhhh the acrid smell of bitterness. Aryllia she is just pissed cuz she sees her dreams of a kitten star AND pale marionette disolving like so much sugar in boiling water. Now she has to chose between keeping her tank going with the short lived highly expensive monsters (cuz everyone knows the regular fish don't get played anymore) or buying a couple of the more expensive items off the list of greed - unless, of course, she wants to sell some of the stuff she is so into hording, which is not likely to happen anytime soon. So frustration rules the day. She needs a car bomb or two and a vacation on the coast! LOL

i just want to kick back and relax. now isn't shopping in shops a good summer activity?

gaia does need the money to keep it going but are they giving us the benefits?

*frown* I could just barely care less for the kittens and the marionette. Far to overpriced as they are, I am not even looking at them.

Mind you, I am considering making my first tank my last. It is a far too risky investment, what with gaia going wild over their right to change anything at any time. It's just not worth the effort, although of course I would still be playing booty grab to support those who still buy fish.
Rather, I am going back to my small-scale hoarding of everything that will increase in value. (Except the Evolvings, those I buy out of desire)

As for benefits... That was all a lot easier to say back when we only had donation letters. You gave gaia money, and gaia gave you a letter with an item (well two or three, but you could only keep one) and the promise that it would be a safe investment since the letters are never released again.

Now with cash, gaia get their money and the customer now chooses out of several options what they will get in return. Theoretically, that is all fair. If I don't want the letter I can get something else for my donation and it's up to myself how many risks I am willing to take.

Musti, I am not forgiving you for triggering my argumentative side. FYI, I would probably not have reacted so strongly if it hadn't been election year now.

And I am NOT a socialist. I am a pirate fostered in a socialist/liberalist/demi-communist home. Yes, pirate is a political view, a purple view - a view locked on individual freedom on the internet just like we have individual freedom in the rest of our nation.
