Behavior: Those who meet Zane for the first time see him as a sadistic and ruthless assasin, which for the most part he is. This is merely a front in order to hide the fact that he feels the emotions of others and depending on their behavior, Zane acts the same way.

Personality: Zane is a cold blooded assasin through and through. He will put the mission at hand first and refuses to work with others. His loner demeanor comes from the years of training that he underwent as a hunter nin. Though through the interactions with his students, Zane has become much more open and values the lives of his students before his own.

Backstory: At the age of 6, Zane displayed the unique abilities to be able to speak to ghosts. Just like his little brother, Zane too was special as well. He would often wander to the graveyard and speak to the restless ghosts there. That's when he met Ezio Auditore. Ezio was a hunter nin of Kirigakure, who died trying to fullfil a mission for the Mizukage. Not being able to rest for the shame he wrought for making a rookie mistake, Zane decided to help Ezio complete the mission. Submitting himself to Ezio, Zane spent the next two years training under him in the ways of the hunter nin. By the age of 8, Zane had achieved the strength of an upper ranked chuunin.

Thanks to the weapons that Ezio taught him how to make, Zane used his gauntlets to assasinate the shinobi that killed Ezio. Returning to Kiri, Ezio decided to be Zane's partner for the rest of Zane's life. Upon hearing the exploits of Zane, the Mizukage had Zane's little brother taken as a bargaining chip: "Become the leader of the hunter nins and your brother will be safe." Wanting to protect his brother, Zane went deep underground in order to hone his skills as an assasin.

It wasn't until Zane was 20 in which he fully resurfaced from the underground. There would be stores of silent assasinations coming from the Mist village, as if a ghost would seek justice with a sword. It was how Zane got his name: The Ghost of the Mist. Zane continued fighting and serving the Mizukage while his little brother was being experimented on deep underground.

After killing the Akatsuki member named Blue, Zane reported back to the Mizukage, given command of a squad of his own despite his refusal to take any students. But it was thanks to his students that Zane was able to save his little brother and find humanity. Due to his strong urge to protect his students and his brother, Zane has taken the mantle of Mizukage after the deaths of the previous two.

Personality: When he is first introduced Axel has a mysterious, stoic, and calm demeanor. But once he's known he has a very laid-back, "go with the flow" outlook on many things, including missions and battles. But he also is shown to have a very kind, heartful side.
Backstory: Axel is the younger brother of the hunter nin of Kirigakure Zane Hajime. When he was little, the two brothers were seperated from their parents and from each other. While Zane was taken underground to train as a hunter nin, the previous Mizukage took a special interest in Axel. Axel was put under a massive amounts of horrible experiments, altering his dna greatly. Axel has blocked out most of what had happened, for he does not wish to remember the horrors of the experimentation that he went through. When the previous Mizukage passed away, and Sachoi became the new Mizukage, Zane broke Axel out. Since then, Axel has chosen to put his abilities to good use, to be the best medical shinobi in the world.
