FMA:Brotherhood
At the end, Scar spends some quality time with Mei and Alphonse, and masters both alchemy and alkahestry. Using this knowlege, and what he could glean from his brother's notes, he recreates the missing half of his brother's transmutation marks. It also happens in FMA: Brotherhood. Now he can do perfect alchemy, like Ed and Al, but he doesn't even have to clap. He does it with his mind alone.

You see, what happened was FMA got really popular in Japan, and the writer, Arakawa, was approached by TV show people. But FMA was young yet, and Arakawa didn't want to reveal her super-secret plot. So she told the TV producers a little about her story and its characters, and gave them permission to make up the rest as they went along. And so, FMA 2003 was born. When it was a huge success, Arakawa decided to put out a show that was actually based on her manga. And that's why there are two shows. Whew. Also, Ed gets his arm back, but not his leg...he marries Winry and has two children with her. Al gets his entire body back, and marries Mei. Greed, the last living homonculus, decided that having real friends is equal to having all the world. So, with his greed finally satisfied, he sacrifices himself to save Ed, Al, and Ling. The End! lol there's a lot more to it than that, but that's the highlights. There ya go, he-who-likes-spoilers.

Ling is the Xingese guy. (the one always wearing yellow, with the ninjas for bodyguards) He became Greed, after the first Greed was destroyed. Mei is the little girl in pink that does alkahestry. The one with a huge crush on Al. And about the homonculi...Lesse...
Col. Mustang OBLITERATED Lust.
Pride absorbed Gluttony
Greed sacrificed himself for his new friends.
Envy was almost killed by Mustang, too, but it (Envy's sexless in Brotherhood) committed suicide, because it envied humans.
Ed destroyed Pride's philosopher's stone, and erased his memory. He is now just an innocent human/homculus child.
Wrath was killed by Scar.
Sloth was killed by the combined efforts of Izumi's husband and Col. Armstrong.
And Father was killed by Ed, Al, Greed, and Hohenheim, together.

Anyhoo...yeah, the homonculi are like this in brotherhood, for your reference:
They are not failed human transmutations, but they are completely artificial life-forms.
Hohenheim was a slave in the ancient city of Xerxes, and was transformed into a homonculus accidentally by Father.
Lust is the same.
Gluttony is mostly the same. He also carries around a portal to an extra-dimensional prison inside his stomach.
Greed is the same initially, but his spirit later possesses Ling.
Envy is mostly the same, but it is sexless, instead of being a boy.
Sloth isn't the Elrics' mother, but a big huge guy with super strength that he hates to use.
Wrath isn't a little boy, he is actually King Bradley.
Pride isn't King Bradley, he is a little boy that takes the form of Bradley's dead son.
Aaaand Father looks just like Hohenheim, because he borrowed his blood to create new bodies for the both of them, during the creation of the first Philosopher's Stone. He's trying to create a Stone so powerful, he can become God-like.

FMA: Brotherhood...continued
By request of Orcus, here's the deal with the brothers Elric's mother.

2003 anime:
As the homunculi story goes in this show, a homunculus is created when an alchemist fails to resurrect a dead human.
So, when the boys failed to bring back their mother, the homunculus Sloth was created by mistake.
http://jinyo.net/scruffyrebel/images/slothref.jpg
The steaming pile of organs that you see in the first few episodes becomes a homunculus after being exposed to a pile of incomplete Philosopher's Stones. Everyone (including her) believes that she is not the same entity as before; they all think that the homunculi only take the form of the person they're made from. However, when Ed defeats her, in her dying moments she reveals that she is, in fact, the real Trisha Elric (at least on some level.) Her parting words are "I love you! Take care of each other." This idea is further supported in the OVA, when Wrath dies and is reunited with Izumi, and he acts as her real son, and not just a monster wearing his face. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100301055825/fma/images/thumb/3/39/Wrath.jpg/300px-Wrath.jpg

Brotherhood/ Manga:
In the original story, homunculi are artificial humans, created purposefully by skilled alchemists, and not mistakes in human transmutation. Sloth is not Mommy Elric, but a giant humanoid juggernaut with superhuman strength and speed. Unfortunately, the Elrics discover that life-force energy only flows one way, and thus Trisha can never be resurrected. But they learn to keep her alive in themselves after recovering their bodies and moving on with their lives. Hohenheim, his Philosopher's Stone almost completely drained, spends his last moments sitting by Trisha's grave. Pinako Rockbell finds him there the morning following the final battle with Father, with a smile on his face. He has gone on to see Trisha.

I recently watched the Fullmetal movie that concluded the 2003 anime show. To me it was okay and all but the ending was basically the same ending as the 2003 anime with Ed going to the other world except that Al joins him leaving all the others behind. I thought that was crap, now Brotherhood does it right sadly the manga has ended so the anime will soon end crying .

UPDATE:
Spoiling the final episode, right here. Winry marries Ed after the most awkward proposal ever, and they have two children. A family photo is shown, with the four of them in the exact same pose as Hohemheim's family. Also, Mei and Alphonse get married, and the Elrics learn alkahestry to replace the alchemy that they can no longer perform. Mustang becomes the new Fuhrer with Hawkeye as his right hand, and Scar joins them in their attempt to restore the holy land of the Ishvalans.

Man I am going to miss that show since there will be no new episodes but at least I can rewatch the whole show whenever I want. Props to the creator for making a awesome series, and to the animation team for making the show follow the manga in great awesomeness.
