Apparently the border of Ontario and Quebec is right on a fault line. I had no idea o-o; So there was a totally random, magnitude 5 earthquake there yesterday that confused the crap out of everyone. Appparently no one else in the general public knew there was a fault line there either.

Yeah. There exist a few minor fault lines in the US that do not have noticeable quakes.
There's also one in my area of Florida, which was active a few years ago, but the quake was around a 2.9 - tiny and mostly unnoticeable, except near the fault.
