Rivek, bitter about being ostracized, refuses to ally himself with anyone who hasn't proved their loyalty first. He hasn't particularly trusted anyone he's met after the age of seventeen. He is magic-born but technology - along with math - comes intuitively to him, giving him the ability to fake citizenship in whichever region he happens to be in. Although he is bound by blood to Willowren, she gives him relative autonomy. Therefore, he is able to run his own business. He resides in the neutral zone and makes a modest living running messages back and forth between factions. Normally, these are harmless trade agreements and/or narcotics. Running a solo operation means, although he lacks official government sanction or protection, he tends to remain unharmed - or sometimes, just entirely unnoticed - during his travels. To request his services, leave a specific bundle of herbs where you would like him to meet you. You must obtain the recipe from someone who has used his service previously. Within a day, one of his birds will find it, and he will meet you there the next evening. In person, you may request an exchange at the site, or he may ask you to set your package in certain places for pickup, usually the window or doorstep of a complete stranger's home, a different place every time (usually selected for your convenience - his customer service is actually pretty good) . In his spare time, he maintains an aerie whose feathery inhabitants double as employees. He will not tell anyone where it is. For the purposes of this tournament, Rivek has written and signed four contracts with each faction government for the purpose of delivering commands, artwork, and other miscellany. Given the factions' love of politically playing each other, no contract states that the messages delivered by Rivek must be truthful, entirely accurate, or even that he reveal the entire intention behind the message. They can be hurtful or even complete fabrications. He will usually impart his own sarcastic, sometimes perverted, taint on the wording. In return, he is granted political asylum and military protection for the duration of the tournament, as well as a nice sum of money. Therefore, breaking of contract by any faction or player character will result in immediate punishment upon the attacker. Each contract states that Rivek will serve solely as a noncombatant, but if this is violated, he has free reign. He is never unarmed. And believe me, he is much, much faster than you. ---  Name: Rivek Ailinar Gender: Male Age: 24 Height: 5' 10" Weight: 137 lb Ailinar Ailinar Rivek Ildorus is a swordsman-archer on a contract with the government who doesn't exist on paper because of religious reasons. He has mixed feelings about his position - he's in love with his boss, but he hates being metaphorically leashed. Nevertheless, without the law, he would still be just as dedicated to her. As a result, although he stays distant in public, he's not afraid to speak his mind when they are in private. When you get to know him, you realize, behind the logical exterior, is a sarcastic sense of humor which is a further mask for his intense loyalty. Proud to be an indirect descendant from Ailinar, Rivek inherited all of his magical prowess plus the ability to change into peregrine falcon form. Unfortunately, he has minimal control over his power and finds his everyday behavior affected by his animal side. Just like his forebears, he is a dark-mage but lives in times when it is much worse to be one. He has spent a decent portion of his life simply trying not to get killed, but he now aims to better his station. He is also very good at math and would probably ace calculus had it been invented. His blood is so dark red it's almost black because he's a mage. His powers, though are limited. All he can really do is talk to birds and turn into a peregrine falcon, which enhances his human speed and eyesight. His eyes are blue, and the cross on his face is a scar. Wings are optional. A lot of people add them for aesthetic reasons. Just make sure they're gray/mottled, if you do add them. Ah well, here is my first profile, as the one character I know I will be using for this. XD For the purposes of this RP she will probably be training (or attempting to train) and giving direction to any new recruits who join our faction. She will also generally antagonise anyone from other factions that she happens to come across. XD -------------------- Rebecca Portan is the Captain of the Guard for the Mage capitial, in charge of the security and safety of the city, keeping law and order there so that its citizens can sleep soundly at night. She has been military since she left home and is exceptionally serious about her responsibilities - she rarely takes a vacation and gets restless when she's not working. After a repressed childhood in a highly religious village on the edge of the Mage's lands she finds it difficult to understand how to have any kind of personal relationship; that's not to say she is cold towards people, she will talk, but will rarely be prepared to discuss herself or answer personal questions. Thus very few consider that they know her very well despite having seen her almost every day. Part of this is her own issue of personality, the second is to do with her own magic, which doesn't take the form of spells but is ingrained within her every cell, inhancing her physical abilities to make her stronger and faster than probably any other Mage (people from other races or with technological advancements may well be stronger/faster). It's also unfortunatly highly oppressive magic and 'seeps' from her, giving her a kind of aura that the majority of people find uncomfortable and intimidating (think of the feeling you get when people stand in your personal space, but stronger), although some sentient races are not affected by it and certain other kinds of magic can block it out. Almost all animals, apart from cats, stay clear of her on instinct.  Personality wise, Portan is tough and straight-talking, sometimes mean, usually not too nasty or cruel but she has her moments. Suspisous, serious and quick to throw her weight around, particularily if you're breaking the law (which she is humorless about). She is proud, and full of pride for herself and the things she has achieved in her life - she is never late or will leave the house without a perfectly pressed uniform. She's not shy of arresting, and manhandling, anyone she suspects of causing trouble but her sense of justice and fairness is high, for example going back and helping to fix anything that's become broken while making an arrest. She protective of anyone or anything that she does care about and has a soft spot for kittens and music. Any sense of humor she has is reserved for sarcasm and wit but rarely displayed. --------------------- Name: Rebecca Portan Hair: Brown, just past shoulder length, worn down or in a single ponytail. Woo I finally get to hear about Portan more! And always a pleasure to read about Rivek =p. I will place my OC's on this post so that we only have OC posts here :3
But.... definitely going with a trio of shady characters, including one violent subordinate:

Wheee, Blakely! Really like neutral-Rivek and looking forward to seeing Portan in action.
Reserving this spot for an OC that's still unnamed and needs references. At the moment, I've got a nevertobecompleted-piece (alternate style) and a hairstyle concept.
She's shaping up to be a trinket vendor/collector, who wields a crossbow shooting different types of magical bolts and if forced into melee, uses a rapier and a parrying dagger (trident maingauche). She's looking for her dad who abandoned her and her mum (so that she can beat him up), and I had a thought about she mistaking Thorn for him. But decided against bringing him into the storyline.
Anyone want to help finish her design off? xD

Boop! My characters will be going in this post, once I get their basic profiles sorted out (and decide who I'm actually going to use! xD).
Characters I'm considering:
Zarael - powerful mage, probably one of those in charge of her faction.
Rose/Maverick - treasure hunter, probably will offer rewards or information for quests completed.
Ritak - teleporting entertainer, probably useful as a spy or messenger.
Lila/Variable - mercenary, definitely used for shady jobs.
Zarael and Maverick are both remade versions of the Maverick I used to use... (but are still very different characters) xD Ritak hasn't changed a whole lot...
Yay for characters! Rivek sounds like he'll be a ball of trouble-causing fun. As does Blakely xD And Portan, well... She's always fun to mess with. ~Ponders throwing Larry into the mix.~
Larry - baker or a prince, depending on which version I go with. He fails terribly at... uhm... most everything, except being a baker and following his rulebook.
And Thorny, Thorn should totally show up in the storyline here! You're already running the neutral area, he could be there for a couple quests/events and for us to bother xD
And that new OC of yours sounds interesting xD

Thorn, your character looks so cute! XD Zien - You know what I think of your OCs! XD Larry would be fun though, he could be a random quest giver - I can also see Portan hiding secret messages inside his breads and cookies and asking him to give them to people. We already discussed Zarael. Ritak and Lila would be fab for his setting. :3 --------------------------  Raine is a Dragon, cousin to the current Prince in his kingdom. Dragons are varied in either their true or humanoid form, the latter they usually take for space and comfort reasons. He is somewhat socially maladjusted. He can come across as rude or patronising, at least at first, because he's not sure how to talk to people who aren't Dragons. But he is quite kind and would be sad to think he had insulted anyone - he's fond of other people, can be quite nieve, he's not always aware when people are manipulating or tricking him when they are particulary cunning. If he does realise it though, you risk his puppy-dog eyes.. He's curious and inquisitive, enjoying learning anything he can. But he prefers reading books before attempting anything in real life, leading to a seemingly naive appearance and a sheltered life in his solitary tower - part of the reason he has been brought to the tournament. And he mysteriously requested to be allowed to attend... -------------------------- Name: Raine Hair: White with blue tips. A bit fly-away. Ruthless and selfish. Seivo would betray anyone if he had a good reason to - the only person he is interested in is himself. He's never cared about anyone else he's ever met. At least that's what he tells himself. As a child Seivo was abandoned by his family who believed he was not strong enough, magically speaking, as he displayed no talent by the usual age that Mages do begin to show their magic. He's never got over this abandonment. Adding insult to injury, he was then tormented by various people in his village who found his lack of magic highly amusing. Unfortunatly for them it did one day emerge and in a surge of power and revenge, he destroyed much of the village before leaving to plan his revenge on the world that never showed him any love or compassion. Seivo hates pretty much everyone. He certainly hates other Mages. Other races are tolerable at best. But his main aim is to become ruler of the Mages (by force of course) - argueably this is something of a pipe dream as he has no real plan by which to achieve this. However in his mind he has ideas and goals that may well help him to come closer to his dreams and mostly he will just torment, torture or otherwise do whatever he can to hinder either individual Mages or as a collective. He will happily do almost anything to anyone if he thinks it will help him or hurt or cause problems. This includes torture, blackmail, murder, spying, or anything shady at all. However he is not someone who will act without reason. If he allies to someone and there is no reason to betray them, he will not do it just because he can or because he is malicious. In some ways Seivo is still just a little boy wishing someone would reach out and hug him.
